I think that he only gets one thing that he can ask for. Some people will ask for a title for their mothers etc. But he asked for a marriage decree. If he wants a title for her he would have to earn it for her.

I think asking for a marriage with a commoner/former maid PLUS a title for her would've been too much for one ask, no? Also, while Lanxiang has done much for Lin family, she hasn't done anything for the emperor himself or his country.
