must a show be good? is it not enough to get silly with it?
To be totally honest, I watched Ai Long Nhai with a 102+ COVID fever and I think it rewired my brain chemistry. So while My Dear Gangster Oppa is certainly not a masterpiece of a show, I had a really fun time watching. It's silly, goofy, campy, and tropey, with not a lot of substance underneath. It probably didn't need to be as long as it was and Certainly should have spent some more budget on the sfx wounds. But it did make me laugh and smile, and I genuinely looked forward to watching each week. It's a pretty big step up from ALN all around, and I look forward to see what these guys work on next. Was this review helpful to you?

Oppaaaaaaaa Zaddy
Okay so this was much better story-wise than 'Ai Long Nhai'. I didn't take it too seriously, because lets be honest what gang just lets a prevalent member just peace out because he fell in love. That's not a reality, as well as nobody getting jail time. However, once I let myself look past that I didn't mind this show at all! I loved the initial connection of being online gamer friends, so it let the feelings make more sense quicker. So overall, super cute and I would recommend! Was this review helpful to you?

My Gangster OPPA
This is a very bias review. I loved Meen since Love by Chance 2. He is really young but such a good actor. I like Ai Long Nhai even though it was a trash series. The reason is because of Meen. I liked Ping but I’m not delusional to think he has any acting skills besides being annoyingly whiny and being cute AF about it. Even I can admit Meen’s acting wasn’t good. Given the material and who he is playing against. With that said I still had high hope for this series. To start off, Meenreally leveled up his actin in the series. He did exceptionally well in the second half because I can clearly see his acting being so stalkingly good with Ping loosing the plot of the story. I cannot take him as a serious actor when I think he is worst that Dunk. What is it with these boys whining and crying so hard? That scene in bed in the last episode was so poorly directed and edited but Ping’s acting good it to another level of bad. You can see that Meen was really focus on not laughing at it. He was so serious which makes that scene so funny to watch.
I don’t like the character Wahl but the actor did a great job portraying it withthe redemption arc. He was definitely different in the book. In the first half I really want to yeet Wahl out the the series. However once he discovers his feels he wasn’t as cringey.
The story took a completely different turn than the webtoon. But overall despite the poor Ping acting which really shine through in contrast to Meen and Winner. Hell everyone’s acting was good to great except Ping. But I’m not mad about it because he’s so cute. This is why I am giving it a 7.5. It’s completely bias.

SIMPLE STORY, ACTUALLY A GOOD DRAMA
STORYI was really wondering why some reviews about this is bad because for me the drama as a whole was really good , the story was easy to understand , I did not had any problems with the scripts, it was what I was expecting it to be , It was fun in total.
I liked the chemistry of the leads , I prefer this kind of drama than of those with long episodes but nothing was happening than kissing and having sex. I just salute Guy here because he did not gave up with P'Tew when he shut him off and sent him away .. but actually following him all along .. maybe he knew even P'Tew was not showing himself. he was actually around and looking over him and he even saw it multiple times. I really feel bad also with Wahl because he deserves a second chance .. he was not ready after all at first and was not really sure of what he likes .. but when he was sure it was too late that Guy met P'Tew already.
I liked the part when Guy did not want to send P'Tew to fight again against Kenji , the way he cried , I really felt that he loves P'tew , and also when Guy followed P'Tew when they were eating outside with the game squad on the parking lot .. P'Tew cannot last trying to keep himself from touching Guy. I also liked when P'Tew sent Guy away .. the acting was intense ..
The only thing I did not understand in this drama is Kenji .. it was seen and made clear what he wants and the suddenly changed .. he was an eye sore for me at the drama , but it means he really did a great job for it
The Drama was about Mafia things, and the presentation was really good but not heavy enough , not dangerous looking enough , and the fighting scenes was a bit lacking of I don't know what . but it was okay , I really liked it how they presented it , the drama was just a light drama after all I guess not a heavy one
Boss and PTull HAHA I liked the both of them < I was actually expecting more part of the drama for them but not really that many .
All in all I liked the story, I liked the presentation, the characters was portrayed great .. It was a light drama and worth of my time
ACTING/CAST
Meen and PIng did great in their acting here, and Wahl I liked it that they seems to really went to the being of their portrayed characters , I enjoyed seeing them
MUSIC
I did not really listened to the songs of this drama but the sound effects was okay
OVERALL
I can say this was like a korean drama , well from the title itself , HHAHA I was just wondering why P'Tew was an OPPA , he should be HYUNG not oppa because Guy was a guy right ? HAHA anyways .. I would probably re watch this again , it gave me a feeling of can't get enough of seeing the leads lovey dovey .. like I did not want to watch any dramas yet for a while. The last part scene was really good , I really liked it the way they are a lovey dovey .. until they closed the window of their restaurant . two thumbs up for this , I will miss them so much ! I hope Meen Ping will have many more Dramas in the future

Entertaining but Ping needs acting classes
Why Why why??? Does Guy just is ready to fall for anyone ,who just comes and gives him a bit of attention. He just jumps from one person to other in a matter of seconds and is ready to kiss the other person right after his breakup and then telling that he still loves is ex. I mean is it only me who finds it hard to digest....I mean it would make sense for a character like Guy with low self esteem and introverted personality, to have feelings for someone who gives him attention. BUT is that true for every person he meets..... Come on Boy, just make a decision of whom you actually love.
I am sure a lot of people will hate me for saying this but, I seriously think that the actor Guy(played by Ping) seriously needs some acting lessons. I couldn't just feel any emotions from him when he acted. Mostly when acting for emotional scenes his depiction of sadness barely touched my heart, rather just brushed off from the surface. I have seen him in AiLong Nhai and it was the same him playing the cute annoying character.
The series however is entertaining I didn't have much of a expectation from it but it was a nice watch overall. I think 8 episodes is enough and did justice to the series. However, they gave Whal's character too much screen time. It would have been nice if they cut some of his scenes and given the time to show the relationship developement of the main leads (or just some sweet boyfriend moments).
Overall an entertaining watch and Binge-watch worthy.

Wasted Potential
Such a good story overall but lacks in writing and script many scenes should at least have more screen time, especially for the first 3 ep for more depth in the overall storyline.I think that they wasted the last 2 episodes, they put many cliches in the series' plots that make it so-so. Many potential storylines can be put in this EPS.
Acting can be more perfect if they do at least push the acting workshop a little more, the chemistry is there but the acting doesn't help.
Overall, I like it and enjoy this series as expected, don't let the negative comments stop you from watching this.
Might rewatch it again.

6”4 thug preys on a kid with no friends
Fuck this show lmao. I had to gun to my head this show, it was so bad. And watching this now is also sad because they are no longer a couple, but that's fine. I would give it a 6.5 (7.9, but this was terrible, so) out of 10. Don't watch it. I am going to say what I liked, what I didn't like, and then an episode overview. So let's go.Winner. I love him so much, and I would watch this all over again for his sexy ass, oh my god, I forgot he was in this, but I would give my life for him. The show started off well, I will give them that. It was random, but they were free, and that is all that mattered. I think I just like mafia shit, I love that so much, and this was no different...actually it was, but that is fine. The intro was cool, lmao, just the music was ass. The show is so bad I'm complimenting the intro lmao. Whatever happened towards the end of episode 5, with the plot picking up a bit, was fun, like we did harm a bunch of innocent people, but that was fun. Ping is good looking, he just isn't the best actor lmao, but I have hopes for my boy. Uh, yeah, that's all I have positive to say about this show.
I love Meen and ping together so much, but they have no chemistry, and part of me is excited to see their ship get laid to rest and ping going on to other projects under GMMTV. Jesus Christ, they had no chemistry in Ai Long Nhai; they have none in this either. Fuck, this was hard to watch. Like two brick walls trying to fuck. THE VIDEO GAME SHIT. I don't know why, on November 12, 2023, when I started this, I thought that was so interesting. That was so fucking random, and I was like What the fuck is happening? How are we even connecting the two plots right now? YOU AREN'T AND YOU CAN'T. The bullshit with that Kenji freak, like, why does he have more screen time than our couple? Like shut his fat ass up and put him in the fucking dirt, I swear to god. The costumes and the makeup were ass, I swear to god, just terrible. This show was also beyond cringe lmao. Jesus Christ, some parts were stomachable, and the other parts were not at all, oh my god. This whole show was a whole bunch of nothing. I can't even lie to you. We fucked around in my face for way too fucking long, Jesus. I felt myself wasting away watching this show; we were doing bullshit, having bullshit problems, just the full 9 yards. A TERRIBLE ENDING TO A TERRIBLE FUCKING SHOW. WHOEVER WROTE THIS DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO WRITE A PLOT, I SWEAR TO GOD. You need to go back to the drawing board, draw a gun, and shoot yourself because this was so fucking bad and not even in a good way; it was just awful. We can't act, we don't have chemistry, the plot is awful, there is no romance building, fuck this show, it was terrible. Fuck it.
Take what I say in the episode reviews with a grain of salt. "I miss these two together so fucking much, oh my god, bro. Especially with them in a mafia video game romance thing. I am very excited for this, and I love them together. Their chemistry is great and makes everything 10 times better." I dont know why I lied. "We are definitely going to get a fake overplayed love triangle because of the way whale man is acting." "Everyone in this show is freaking me out. Love the actor who plays the mob boss, but he’s so creepy in a hot way I can’t get over myself. He’s so scary. And he’s literally doing so much for his man, and I respect it. And we have a second couple, maybe. And I think Tul had a think for Tew at one point." "The mafia is making his life better, bro. You are just mad because he is leaving your toxic ass in the dust."Hey, you're going to get jumped. I want to know why Homeboy quit. He's going to get jumped. Oh, shit, he is a traitor. Probably the most interesting thing to happen in this episode. Oh shit. He's actually a traitor. He clearly likes hanging with them, but it's going to kick his ass later. Oh, shit, he drugged them. That's insane. That's insane. What a twist! There are like four very innocent people you also just drugged, so keep that in mind." "There is something so tragic about watching shows with dead ships." " Also, a whole bunch of nothing is happening, and I know why I didn’t finish this." "I will miss their very awkward on-screen chemistry dearly. Why do I keep watching this bull shit fucking shows? My lord, I feel myself fucking wasting away right now lmao." "The crimped hair makes him look less like a pimp and more like a Japanese host." LMAOOO I DONT KNOW WHY I WROTE THIS. "Ping is gorgeous, and I hope he gets slightly better acting lessons and gets a new show soon."
FUCK NO. STAY AWAY. Okay bye!

Simple, short and sweet
I think from now, every time I see a thai BL that's 8 episodes, I'm going to go in knowing that it's a speed run because that what it is.It's obvious that things were moving very quickly, where you would be expecting some deeper development.
With that said, I did enjoy this for what it was. It was a simple quick BL of an introverted loner, trying to make new friends and falling in love with one of them, or perhaps, a love at first sight between the two.
Little does our lead know that his new friend is a mafia member and is more than capable of maiming and killing, so there's a little bit of grit in the show and honestly more than I was expecting.
One thing that really annoyed me though was the character of Nami. Wan is written as being the jerky friend, and we should probably be laughing at his misery but I actually felt sorry for him. He was confused and didnt know what to do with his feelings.
Who peeved me off was his girlfriend Nami. One of her opening lines was 'Are you sure this is your friend?' .....So she knows that Wan has feelings for Guy and judging by her expression when she realises Guy wants to confess, she is aware that this a potential relationship between them, but she inserted herself anyway, continuing to sneer at Guy in later scene, and was the offscreen reason for Wan being unavailable for Guy.
And when she wasnt treated like the Princess she thinks she is (Wan cutting her nails for her, really?) she got upset and blamed it on Wan. Nah honey, you brought that on yourself and deserve every ounce of misery. There are women who do this to gay men, and seeing Wan treated liked the one in the wrong irked me slightly I'm glad that they hinted at a new love interest for him at the end because although jealous, he was still a genuine friend for Guy and deserved better than what Nami was doing.
As for the other couple, I really wasn't interested in them and there wasn't much time to flesh them out anyway. I fast forwarded through their scenes.
Overall, it's just a simple, short and sweet BL with a little gangster flavouring.

Cringey
I was cringey so hard at some scenes especially the crying ones. The storyline was also pretty plain and predictable. I’m so bored of the storylines where they break up with their partner cause it’s “dangerous”. Even if it was a plot like this make it more interesting at least. The random quitting and going back caught me off guard. While guy was hanging out with wal acting all fine and then starting crying about it I was so confused. Wal was also such a bad person and then turned around to be “caring” all of a sudden. their chemi wasn’t the best either. I don’t get the random scenes and I think this drama was just a flop. Was this review helpful to you?
Cute Characters, Rushed Plot
The drama is overall quite good, though not without flaws. Some characters made it especially cute and enjoyable-particularly Muffin, whose fun and cheerful personality added lightness to every scene, and Phai, who balanced things out with herseriousness and grounding presence.
The leads, Guy and Thiu, had great chemistry that kept the story engaging. However, certain parts of the plot felt rushed, with some events skipped as if the scenario was cut in half. Despite that, it remains an entertaining watch, especially if you're looking for lighthearted moments, laughter, and simple enjoyment.

Not horrible but not good either
There is not much that can be said about this drama - it is unfortunately one of the most mediocre series I've watched. I don't feel enough to hate it and I don't feel enough to like it either. If you're watching for the plot or acting, you've come to the wrong place. There are so many areas for improvement in terms of acting and writing. Pacing feels very off, there were a lot of plot points that needed to be fleshed out more and some that needs to be shortened. Acting is subpar, which is a huge shame because this isn't their first rodeo. I don't think being able to cry well is a huge ask in the acting world but the emotional performances in this series really fell flat and felt amateurish.
If you're looking for eye candies, however, this drama might be it for you. Meen looks especially good in this so my 5.5 rating is mostly off the fact that he's hot. Also I've gotta say, the guy playing Whal kind of stole the show for me. I was full on rooting for him and Guy to get together instead because he kinda nailed the internalized homophobia, pining, and hesitance look.

It's worth a try
This series is worth a try but it ain't promising a satisfaction. But i enjoyed watching the show. The main leads were nice and they had cute and funny scenes as well as useless conversations. The gaming team had a nice group of friends and it was quiet funny and entertaining to watch the scenes where there were. And I looooove the character Tul like he was the only henchmen who really considered himself more than that and was friendly with Tew till the end. That relationship was promising and was lovely to watch . One and only thing that i don't prefer about the MML "Guy" is that he always whines and never tries to fight for himself even when he was in danger. It would have been perfect if he was more self controlled and brave. So i gotta say that this piece of work is worth watching if you love the Main Leads. Personally i watched this cause I'm a fan of Meenping and i was thrilled to see them in a mafia background based story. The first few episodes were promising and exiting but when the story continued to unfold it felt nothing like THERE WAS MAFIA MEN IN IT. Most of the time Tew convinced Guy that he will be in danger if he gets involved with him, but i never so anything dangerous coming on their way at all. As i said there was nothing mafia-like. and i got so disappointed when Tew decided to leave the gangster world cause then there won't be any room for risks and danger. I hoped there would be more life risking situations and action scenes where Tew's and Guy's relationship strengthens and It felt strange watching the drama because the main characters had no relation-ship development on screen but suddenly they were so in love and clingy AF. I think they gave too much screen time to minor and side characters rather than focusing on Tew and Guy. And more over, the so-called " Villain " in the drama had loads of stupid ideas and foolish plans which were really useless and that eat up too much screen time. In my point of view, i think the villain's character lacked reasons to be a villain. It would have been better if the villain was more straight forward and i think he was given too much second-chances like Tew literally spared him more than 3 times yet that mf tried to kill Tew calling it was his revenge and failed miserably at the end. (like Tew was the one who gave you live in the first place ) I really didn't expect Kenji to act like a mad dog without thinking logically. And the action scenes were relatively low compared to other mafia bls out there. It felt strange how they held their knives and guns with their hands as if they never touched a weapon before. I really like the scenes where Tew fought without weapons rather than him using knives like he has never seen a knife before cause those scenes were not realistic. And i felt like they wrapped up the story too quickly at the last few Eps, leading the audience to feel miserable. I really hoped there would be a story wrapped around Tul and Boss but it just led to a disappointment. Also they didn't have a nice clearing between them even at the last episode. And the side characters like the Mafia boss(Paiboon or somthing like that ) didn't really contribute to the drama at all. I expected the Mafia boss to be more violent, harsh and be more confident like a real leader. Also i thought he had dark secrets and dangerous stuff going on with him but it turns out that he ain't that of a badass. so overall that's all i noticed which could be termed as holes in the drama. Eventhough it was not that successful it's worth a go :)
