A serene of young love

I have my doubts about adding this one to my list solely because of how misleading the poster was. It was far different from what the actual vibes of the story were. The poster is somehow dramatic and I thought that it would be a devastating series with a lot of pain but thankfully, I came across with non-spoiler comments of how beautiful the setting was.

Characters are fluff and sincere. I love the innocence and kindness that Ryuji-kun has and how he manages to embrace Amane’s feelings in the end. A short BL that did a remarkable way of flourishing the main character’s growth the moment he finds the one with letting go of his past lustful intimate fling with others.

The story being produced in a seaside city was indeed an appealing sight to see and gives the highlight of being covered in warmth and affection that the story is trying to tell its viewers. I wanted to try the summer season living in that beautiful rural town.

Too short with shortcomings

This is a nice romance, but they missed an opertunity to get into more details due to the short run of this series. The struggle for Ryuji was not explored in detail which is a shame because in contrast to many other series he has absolute no idea about his feelings, his wants and how to express himself. Also the "kissing" scene in the finale was more lame than romantic. I don't need hot and spicy scenes mostly seen in Thai BLs but kissing should be real not just touching lips.

What this series sets it apart from others japanes BLs is the communicaton between the main characters. They always talk it out which is really refreshing. I personally can also enjoy "My Personal Weatherman" which is 100% opposite to this series.

Overall an enjoyable series with much more realistic characters compared to many other shows. Also the production value was high with some sweet moments and good dialogues.

TOO GOOD TO JUST HAVE 5 EPISODE

Best JBL Drama for me,the story are jut have 5 episode and soo to the point. I love how good ryuji's attitude like he didnt even hate amane when he said he was gay. BUT THE PERFECT POINT IS ON EPISODE 5 HE IS THE ONE WHO SAID HE WANT TO WATCH HANABI JUST TWO OF THEM LIKE MAAAN i wish you were not a fictional character. And amane too when his ex texted him and said he want to meet him he is reject it and said "I ALREADY HAVE THE PERSON I LIKEE". The High school BL drama with no sex and too much skin ship was soo good i love it soo much. i didn't wish for season 2 but if they make it i'll definitely watch it. But now i will rewatch this every time i think about Ryuji's smile.

And i like how it start with hanging out together untill sunset and ending it with hanging out until sunrise.

Hope ya'll watch this.

A fluffy story

I wasn't expecting much, but the story started as a fluffy cute teenagers friendship, and ended with a fluffy cute teenagers couple.

I loved that they didn't make it too complicated, and relied more on honesty and clarity between the 2 leads.
Both are extremely cute and soft hearted in the series, and even though it was short, it was beautifully depicted.

A good 2 hours and a half to spend with joy and cuteness, without anything rushed or shoved down the viewer's throat.
Amane has a lonely past, but Ryuji-kun makes up for it. And it's lovely.

Could Have Been A Masterpiece

What a joy this series is to watch. It is soft, gentle, touches the heart with its warmth, child-like innocence. Yet, there is something initially very sad about it. It makes you think about how fast children must grow up and sometimes miss out on their childhood; only longing to want to return to it when they discover its pleasures. Its message is a bit cryptic and hidden behind a façade of childlike behavior, but underneath is hiding a child really wanting and needing to be – a child. But the flaw in what otherwise would have been a near perfect series is the astonishingly clumsy and deflated kissing scene. It is awkward and deliberately filmed so as to not show the mouths touching in either kiss. That was a cheap shot and diminishes completely the caliber of this series and its intent. I am not a fan or artistic trickery to show a kiss.

RYUJI IS SUCH A GREEN FLAG AND AMANE IS THE BIGGEST BABYGIRL

This Japanese BL is honestly so cute and wholesome.
Amane knows his sexuality but at the same time doesn't? He understands his attraction towards the same sex but he doesn't understand the beauty of it and how amazing love can be. And don't get me started on Ryuji...he's such a green flag ever since the beginning and I love how accepting he is of Amane being gay ❤️😖.
PLS DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO.WATCH.IT.

- Nothing inappropriate :)))
- Cute and wholesome <3

A typical short BL

This was quite a cute and quick watch, but I don't think it stood out to me or will end up being too memorable. It's very similar to other dramas with this length — About Youth, Blueming — where we see the main characters gradually get to know each other as they heal from trauma or familial pressure. I really like how we got insight into why the main character is so bubbly, but as always, I felt like the shortness of the show really hampered how deeply we could go into their stories.

A beautiful, grounded rewatch that proved why honesty matters more than tired tropes

This is my second Japanese BL rewatch of the day, and returning to this story with fresh eyes has highlighted a few things I missed the first time around.

Story
What sets this apart is Amane. It is honestly exhausting how many BLs fall back on the tired “I don’t like men, I just like you” or “I love the soul” narratives. Most relationships begin with a baseline of physical attraction, and I love that the story doesn’t shy away from Amane being a believable, convincing gay character. Seeing this level of honesty in a Japanese BL high school setting is rare and welcome

Then there is Ryuji. It is revelatory to see a male character react to a gay confession with such natural acceptance, rather than the typical shock or discomfort. He recognizes the weight of the mask Amane has been wearing and, instead of forcing it off, he gently helps him dismantle it. It’s a beautiful study of emotional safety

Romance
If I’m being honest, the reason this sits in my Top 10 rather than my Top 5 is the momentum. The separation over summer break in Episode 4 felt like a stumble. With only five episodes to work with, that time felt wasted. I wanted to see more of the post-confession “bridge” like those small moments between the two of them where Ryuji could actually sort through his feelings

Because we missed that development, their bond occasionally feels more platonic than romantic. However, I have to give credit to the honesty of the finale where Ryuji admitted his feelings might not be at the same “level” as Amane’s yet is an honest touch you don’t often see in the genre

Acting
The chemistry works because of the contrast. Takato Okura brings a necessary bubbliness, while Hyuga captures a specific brand of “charming yet humble gentleman” He avoids the typical over the top eye candy tropes and instead delivers a performance that feels lived-in and sincere

Cinematography
Enoshima does a lot of the heavy lifting here. While the color grading remains fairly standard, the shooting locations are top-tier. The coastal backdrop elevates the production value, making the entire show feel like a breezy, nostalgic summer or high school memory

Sweet, fluffy and healthy

When you need peace and relaxation, it's a must-watch. The characters are very pleasant and lovable. It's also nice that a serious topic has been raised about how important it is to be accepted by your loved ones as you are. I also like that there is communication between the main characters. The only thing that I didn't like is the ending because it seems that everything is still ahead and I wonder how their relationship will develop in the future.
OVERALL:
All in all, I would rate this BL very positively. It is perfect for one night when you want to relax and dive into the sweetness and cuteness.

It's kinda giving overrated

I went into this show with high expectations cause I saw it was short and had good ratings, which is perfect for me. After watching it I have to say I do not understand why this show has such high ratings. Not to summarize it but it's basically about a gay boy who sleeps with older men cause he's scared of finding love and being hurt/rejected but decides to give it a try after meeting a boy he likes. Their relationship grows over the episodes culminating in a confession which leads to the other boy saying he doesn't feel the same way but is willing to give it a shot. They end up together and that's it. I understand it is very short and for this reason not as fleshed out but I still feel like their relationship at the end was quite forced. My interpretation was that the other boy decided to date him cause first of all he's a kind person and also didn't want to lose the other guy's support and friendship. I didn't feel that spark between them in a romantic way, but as a friendship it did feel somewhat genuine. Also I gotta mention this, not to be rude in any way but the protagonist has very huge pick me vibes and is always acting over the top in a way that is kinda difficult to watch. It took me a few days to get through the episodes for this reason. Overall I don't find this story particularly interesting nor does it feel genuine enough to me, and I personally wouldn't recommend it even if it's a short watch.

Short, sweet, bite-size happiness

A lovely short story about 2 boys finding what love is, one with deep emotional scars, and one who heals them. They truly do complete each other in such an endearing and adorable one.

One thing I love the most about this series, is the amount of communication and talking they did. Ryuuji manages to coax Amane into being his true self, and talking about his past wounds. He really listens, and only listens, and that's enough for Amane, having someone who tries to understand him.

I love the confession scenes, it really show Ryuuji's character when he puts such deep consideration into Amane's feelings. It wasn't a simple rejection nor acceptance, he accepted his confusion yet at the same time embraced his feelings for Amane. That for me was just beautiful, and one of the most nicely done confession scenes.

The whole series is just fluffy and cute, except when we deal with Amane's past scars. I wish we had more time with this cute couple, and could've explored more of the development of their relationship after they got together, but then again, that's not the point of this story is it?
