how do my ratings work?
(btw, I am not the kind of guy who would give
an overall rating to a series that I dropped)
(I only use this site to rate BLs and queer contents. My ratings for other formats like anime, het K-dramas, Western dramas, or other dating shows etc., I rate those over on my Serializd)
For BLs, I usually base my rating on:
story & writing, acting and chemistry, cinematography & production, and post-series resonance / satisfaction
But I also leave a little room for personal bias, bc sometimes a show just hits me harder than its technical qualities would suggest
I might add +0.5 or +1 bias stars when I really connect with the story, find myself envying the relationship, or maybe when a series has that lingering effect after I finish it like it stays in my head, changes my algorithm for weeks, or has me thinking about it long after watching it
So basically, the score isn't purely "how objectively good is this?" It's also "how much did this actually do to me?"
