A decent horror that relies on jumpscares
I'm trying to dip my toes into the genre of "serious horror", aka, movies that will definitely give me nightmares, ensuring my sleep cycle is ruined. And Netflix has been on me about watching Death Whisperer and I said why not. I want to watch more horror movies despite the fact that they are evidently not great for me.To the horror end - Death Whisperer is a very good movie. Tons of jumpscares, extremely scary looking ghosts and ghost adjacents, an incredible cast who've done a great job at pretending to being scared and actually scaring me. Plus, tons of gore (which I was not prepared for so that was a nice surprise!). It's a classic horror formula I've seen lots of times.
The story - is okay. I expected a bit more. I wanted a good setup and some decent explanations but going scare heavy, the plot was all over the place, and we got no real conclusion (rectified, hopefully, by the fact that there are three more movies in the series). I know it's based on a novel based on real events, but I can't but feel a little let down. This is an occult based story and I don't usually expect them to have a detailed backstory, but some would've been nice? We got, "it's been happening for centuries, now it's happening to you".
The characterization - that was the worst part. Again, I know it's a real event, but this is a fictional version, no matter how true to the original event it is, and I think they could have done a bit better there. Characters do things that are completely out of.. well character. And the explanation is that the evil spirit made them do it. There are more than 10 main characters here, which ensures that you can't really develop them as characters, which is okay. But I refuse to believe that in what should have been moments of desperation, these people were so cavalier about stuff?
Overall, this is a decent horror movie. I'm hoping to get more out of the sequels because the story here left much to desire - but I would recommend it if you're in the mood for something pretty scary.

Good one! (Not the best one though)
I love horrors and watch every type of horror movies. Not a scary or a disturbing one, just an easy-going one without jump scares but captivating viewer's interest.
This is a serious horror where you find a family struggling to ward off the evil spirit possessing one of the children in the family.
Story and Direction are Good enough.
The Haunting scenes are Good.
Enjoyed watching this horror movie.
***
A family of brothers and sisters along with their parents staying in their house located in an isolated place, face the haunting and the brothers struggle to protect their sisters, especially the little sister who is possessed.
The eldest brother looks irresponsible initially but goes to any extent to protect his family.
The hallucinations that are created by the ghost, give an eerie vibe and all such scenes are Good.
(Maybe, seeing all the handsome brothers in the family n to draw their attention, the ghost troubled the sisters. Just Joking! :) )

My Rating is 8 /10
Rewatch value: Yes
I will recommend this movie to horror genre lovers!

Quite entertaining yet still lacking | I hope they can give Season 2 some justice *Crossfingers*
"Life is too short, so let us make the most of this borrowed time. Tomorrow is not for certain, so hold your loved ones near. Take care of each other and cherish every moment together...as if it were your last."A decent thriller movie I would say...It is the 1st season so I kind of understand why the lore behind the evil/demon wasn't uncovered yet and I am honestly looking forward to watch the 2nd season.
For this 1st installment, everything felt fast-paced at the same time does not. The story itself was neatly done however, I feel like it was quite stretched in a way that I as a viewer was thinking if the scene about going to the hospital was really the best choice for a person who is being possessed, knowing that the demon hasn't been exorcised off of her yet.
Additionally, the "Saline will do her more good than the Holy water" got me cackling so damn hard. Like whut?? I know for a fact that going to the hospital is utmost necessary however, why are you going there already when the actual paranormal issues hasn't been dealt with yet? Come on! They seriously added that to create some more hype and thrill to the story which actually worked, however, the main problem still persists and eventually caused them Yaem's life...
Just want to add that some scenes made me laugh instead of getting scared. Specially that scene where the mother's head was shot and dettached but she stood up, attached it back and started running but it keeps falling off. What a hilarious scene! Haha!
Anyways, another thing I wanna mention before I conclude this review is that the family dynamics are actually great! Their individual issues is one of the main reason why I got drawn and hooked to this story.
P.S. Nadech Kugimiya (ML) taking off his shirt was so unnecesary yet for me it was the highlight of the show. That was just so random. Hahaha!
Story - 8.0, I honestly think we're still lacking a lot of information regarding the background of the demon/devil and I am just sad that Yaem got killed yet they got nothing out of it...well, aside from the ignited anger and passion of the family members for a revenge.
Acting/Cast - 10, Got nothing to comment about the acting. I love them all and I truly adore the youngest son for being my main source of happiness. He's silly and very cute.
Music - 10, The sound effects used greatly contributed to the overall aura and scare factor of the show. Gotta give them extra points for the whispering sound effects. That's really spooky.
Rewatch Value - 7.5, It was not bad and it's just that I don't find myself watching it again. It doesn't have anything on it that makes it rewatchable unless you have forgotten what actually happened to this 1st season.
Overall - 8.5, I still enjoyed it and I am not that confortable giving a score lower than this as it did served its purpose and was able to entertain me the whole time. For now, I would still recommend this, just make sure to watch the 2nd season as well.

Not really bad but not really good
First of all, I really love watching horror movies despite being a scardy cat but this, it makes me laugh for a few times and was getting frustrated because of some illogical behaviors from the characters...Ok, I admit, I appreciate the siblings dynamic, some interesting and dark elements however I'm skeptical for the writing of the characters, especially Yak the big brother (although I'm glad to see the actor Nadech in a horror movie because he's one of the first Thai actors that I have watched in romantic comedy drama, so it's a bit of fresh air lol).
The acting is also good but as I have mentioned, the writing of the characters were not that convincing.
It lacks something that could make it better. Maybe because an introduction since I just happen to see there's a second part lol
I'll see then!
