what are they seeing in this?

I tried really hard to like this. But its inane and boring. Great cast wasted on a puerile script. I don't mind plot holes but this was like graveyards of open gaping plot holes. And just STUPID. No other word for it. What a waste of talent and money and my time. Just told I have to have more characters to qualify for a review. Well, the Grandmother is awesome and will always remember her.

I wish it didn’t crash, but it did :(

I was actually looking forward to the show seeing all the hype and the 1st episode delivered perfectly, I had tears in my eyes at the end but was salivating for more. And the next 3-5 episodes were very good, I didn’t mind the slow burn at all as it made a lottt of sense for the characters to build their relationship after the unfortunate betrayal and incidents. Even though the thief heists after the jewellery one was bleh, I took it as camp and ignored my brain trying to point out how stupid the plans were. (The only highlights were Joke’s disguises LOVED THEM ALL).

But it truly started falling off the rails with the boss and the 4 horsemen playing weird games, gambling kidneys(?), having Joke act as a dog, the ring of random power etc. Tbh, I get the concept of portraying the ultra rich playing with the lives of those in poverty but the genre shift from the first few episodes to THIS felt very unnatural. The show got me back in its clutches with Joker’s breakdown (😭) but then it went completely BONKERS with the bomb collars. Still, they somehow scrapped this shit ending with it all being ANOTHER game to fool the boss.

So many characters don’t really go anywhere after the mid point, their stories weren’t written that well. Boss and the religious cult lady’s backstory had potential but we got 3 lines. Arun and Tattoo had so much cute 2nd couple potential but it was never developed properly.
But I did love our little family with Jack, Joke, Grannie and the little girl. Let’s hope for a better script next time YinWar!

Yin & War's Acting has Improved Exponentially, Grandma is MVP, Plot & Characters Sold Separately

I will always watch Yin and War's shows or films whether they do them together or apart because I think they are great actors and that was shown in this series above all else. The improvement in the last 2 years is huge. This isn't a genre I watch and therefore have only watched their stuff and nothing else; am only a cdrama watcher. Loved grandma; she was the awesome MVP but the plot and some characters were in the twilight zone. Because this is different from what I usually watch, pros and cons will be mixed together as it's easier to explain.

As mentioned above, I can't get enough of Yin and War's improvement in their overall acting here as Jack and Joke. If it was just them two, grandma, Joke's family, the kids (especially Toi Ting, who was too cute for words), and some of the antagonists, it would have been enough. The first two episodes were the strongest and then it just spiraled out of control. The plot was a mix of too much flamboyance where serious words were spoken and actions taken, plot holes, complete nonsense, comedy that absolutely didn't land, and a bunch of actors like Prom, Bonz, Mark, and the dudes that played Hope and Save seriously need to take more acting classes. This just isn't their thing; I know Bonz is a serious singer so he should stick to that. Everyone else perhaps belong in other industries. The characters of Hope, Save, and Rose annoyed the ever living daylights out of me, but towards the end they matured and grew on me; still have a long way to go though.

You could tell right away who the mainstream actors were because they were actually serious and played their parts well; they didn't over act or be so over dramatic you just wanted to fast forward them. The comedy was slapstick and nearly shoved down your throat. Like this just isn't funny! Stop! The 4 Horseman plot with Sauron's Ring belonging back in Mt. Doom and the Ring Around the Rosie of more of the same was yawnsville. The finale episode would have been strong had there not been the obvious plot holes and dumbass humor of ok Jack has a gun, shoot boss but nope! Or the bomb activation tablet is tossed near a handcuffed Joke who can obviously get it but he just stays put. Meanwhile the martial arts were ground to slow motion and though Jack is great at going tit for tat with Carbon (both actors did well with learning basic martial arts kicks and punches), Jack periodically stops to run over to Joke and hug him; like what in the what? End it already! Make most of it make sense, someone please.

The actual ending was decent for all and the chemistry between Jack and Joke was undeniable from the get go so I'm glad we ended with them. I'm glad Joke's dad came around from an arrogant asshole to the father Joke deserved after Top and Jack's grandma talked some sense into him; it was a little too fast but given everything else, I'll take it. The opening theme of the series was great; it showcased what this show was supposed to be but ultimately fell short plot wise.

Would I recommend it? Only for Yin and War's awesome acting. It was believable and the chemistry was on point. Turn your brain off if you want a cohesive story that makes any sort of sense. It's entertaining enough and that's about it.

uhm....

Watch this for my alphabet challenge. And stay watch purely just for it, if not for the challenge I already dropped this. Haha… It's a messed up plot with a lot of holes….

Story about Joke & Jack. Joke is a young man from a wealthy family who feels unappreciated because he has a better brother. To release the stress from his dad, Joke decided to do some stealing and ended up making a name as Joker.

Jack, on the other hand, is a young man who grew up in a poor neighborhood. He tried his best to live his life day to day & free from debt.

One day, Joke met Jack in the bar where he works at. Few days later, they met again while Joke in the scamming action. By accident, Joke’s entangled Jack in his action. Felt guilty, Joke surrendered himself to the police, resulting in him being imprisoned.

Jack on the other hand, because of all the circumstances that happened after Joke scamming, forced him to work for the loan shark boss as debt collector.

Fast forward to 5 years later, Joke is finally free from prison. The first thing he does is look for Jack to ask for forgiveness. Joke never expected Jack to change into a cold man because of his job for the boss. But soon, he’ll learn that it's all only on the surface. Jack never really changed for these 5 years, he was still the same kind guy that Joke knew.

So the story forth is about Joke trying to get closer & be friends with Jack. So, what will their story become…?

That's pretty much the story without giving the spoiler. The only good thing about this drama is the relationship between Joke and his dad. And also Jack’s funny and warm grandma. Oh I love this old lady...

In the end it's an interesting story on paper, but there are so many holes in the plot. So just watch this if you are wondering, but I suggest you better search for something else.

Below I'll write about the messy plot I'm talking about in the beginning. But that also means SPOILER ALERT!!! Read it at your own risk.

==================================================
SPOILER ALERT!!!
==================================================
One of the worst stealing scenes in the drama world. They did give us warning about the fact it's not like this in the real world. But oh come on… Can't you come out with a better one than these messy holes…

These holes alone take up a huge chunk from my score. Because if it's only about how they messed up in the stealing process because of one stupid thing, it's still better. But this one… OH MY GODDDDD!!! Really stupid.

Joke, try to rob the bank. He can easily go to the bank manager room, take the money from the safe inside the room & just give it to Jack…

Or like when Joke and the gank steal the ring for the boss. Ugh that really one big messy plot, start from planning till the execution all big headache for me to watch it.

The only better execution of the stealing plot is when Joke and the gank steal the jewel. That's quite smooth. But unfortunately still close up with the stupid escape.

Good but not exceptional

This series has a real storyline, action, and a big budget, making it quite enjoyable to watch.

Unfortunately, the inconsistencies pile up, and you eventually lose track—and interest. As for the acting, it’s solid, but War struggles sometimes.

This series was highly anticipated, so it’s a bit of a letdown. It’s far from unforgettable and nowhere near the level of Love Mechanics.

Just overrated

I really wanted to watch “Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart!” given its promising premise and the buzz surrounding it. However, after completing the series, I found myself disappointed due to several critical issues that detracted from the overall experience.

Storyline and Plot Inconsistencies

The series starts with an intriguing concept, delving into themes of class disparity and moral ambiguity. Unfortunately, as the episodes progress, the plot becomes increasingly convoluted and inconsistent. The narrative often diverges into unnecessary subplots, leading to a disjointed and confusing storyline. This lack of focus made it challenging to stay engaged, as the main plot was frequently overshadowed by irrelevant side stories.

Underdeveloped Slow-Burn Romance

The central relationship between Jack and Joker is intended to be a slow-burn romance. However, the development of their relationship lacks depth and gradual progression. The transition from animosity to affection feels abrupt, with insufficient build-up to justify their eventual union. This rushed romantic development left me questioning the authenticity of their connection and made it difficult to fully invest in their relationship.

Pacing Issues and Predictable Humor

Each episode spans approximately 90 minutes, yet the content often fails to justify this length. The pacing is sluggish, with numerous scenes that add little to character development or plot advancement. This lethargic tempo made the series feel tedious at times. Additionally, the humor is frequently predictable and lacks originality, diminishing its intended comedic impact. I found myself anticipating punchlines well before they were delivered, which detracted from the overall enjoyment.

Inconsistent Acting Among Cast

While the lead actors deliver commendable performances, infusing their roles with charisma and depth, the supporting cast’s performances are uneven. Several side characters lack the necessary acting prowess, resulting in a disparity that disrupts the series’ cohesion. This inconsistency detracts from the overall immersion and can pull viewers out of the narrative. It’s evident that more attention to casting and direction for supporting roles could have enhanced the series significantly.

Unfulfilled Potential

Despite its promising premise and exploration of darker themes, “Jack & Joker” struggles with a lackluster and poorly structured plot. The series introduces compelling ideas but fails to develop them fully, leading to a narrative that feels both overextended and underexplored. This imbalance results in a viewing experience that, while occasionally engaging, ultimately falls short of its potential.
In summary, “Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart!” aspires to deliver a complex and engaging story but is undermined by its inconsistent plot, underdeveloped romance, pacing issues, and uneven acting performances. These factors collectively contribute to a series that, despite its strengths, may not resonate as strongly with all viewers.

You think you stole my heart? But it was already yours to begin with!

This is the story of a righteous potato and a dumb fox who met each other at the right time but in the wrong place. Later, the series delves into their chaotic lives to show that separated, they're miserable, but together, they're sunshine on earth.

✓Things that I appreciated:

• The main lead's natural chemistry is what brought us here. Storyline is important, but without camaraderie between the actors, establishing good content is impossible. Yin and War's portrayal of Jack and Joker showed us that with mutual understanding and support they can conquer the world!

• The main motto of the series was not to make a goofy light rom-com but to create an everlasting impression on the audience. The thrill, suspense, comedy, and romance it delivered were equally divided into parts that didn't outshine each other.

• The brilliant side characters Ama and Toey Ting. They were those supportive pillers; without them, the series would be incomplete. Ama's wisdom and Toey Ting, the Smarty pants, brighten up the mood instantly whenever they're on screen. The best supporting role goes to them!

• In the era of "who's more dominant" talks, we got our vice kings! One dialogue, "Let me lead today," warmed up my heart. This proves they're not showing what the audience wants but what they should expect. They set the bar high; no chance of defeat!

• This is not just a BL drama; it's more than that. It's a story of rays of hope finding their way through the darkest corner of hell. This is a tale of unprecedented happiness you get for fighting for your loved ones, i.e., family. Outside the blood-related family, you create bonds, which lead to an orientation of a family that accepts you for who you are and makes you shine beyond your shortcomings.

• I loved how the storyline was not entirely dependent on romance but had a proper story to tell, which created a huge anticipation throughout the episodes. The audience didn't get bored but rather was immersed in it the whole time.

✓Room for improvement:

•I would really appreciate it if action scenes were shown more naturally than memorised steps. Although they improved a lot from the first episode till the last one. This was my only problem; otherwise, it was a perfect series from start to finish.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the rollercoaster ride of anticipation, disappointment, sadness, and joy. It was thrilling to begin with. All those comedic elements did give a moment of relief and rehabilitation from the series of serious situations. Highly recommend. If you're looking for something fun and thrilling with a dollop of romance blooming, then this is it.

9/10 and 0.5 for my immense love for Yinwar (≧◡≦) ♡ they'll be dearly missed!

So Adorable

hi, ı am here to after watching the 5 ep.: I have been watching it breathlessly since the first episode. I am more surprised and more pleased with each episode. The acting is very sincere. I started to feel like a part of the team. The subject and story are interesting, unexpected and visually spectacular. It is true that P’war made me fall in love with itself more with each episode. The Joker character is literally a mixture of Johnny Depp and Harley Queen. Sweet, practical and with a big heart. ı don’t know how ı wait next week?

Jack & Joker: Surely won my heart

In my opinion, this genre suited YinWar the best! As if they were made for this. Yin's acting improved so damn much compared to what it was in En Of Love... His expression, dialogue throws everything... everything is so much better now. As for War, did we ever get to judge his acting skills? He is perfect. The most perfect actor to express anything without a single speech with the help of only eyes... Every single character was very beautifully played by each and every actor specially the little junior star who played Toi Ting. For the first time, a child cast really impressed me so much! She killed it!
As for the story or plot, I thought it will have many plot holes tbh, but it proved me wrong. The plot was amazing just how it was for KinnPorsche and the cinematography, direction and also the production was totally nailed.
This one deserves a lot more promotion and recognition than anything. It had the perfect coordination of dark, fluf, comic and mystery in it making it a masterpiece for sure. The chemistry among each and everyone of them was top tier which blended so well with the on-camera bond they had to potray.
The best part of this is definitely how irrespective of the story inclination, the romance was never left out which made it such a comfortable journey to watch through.
Bored of same university typical plots? (though GMM is serving rn) You have to watch it for sure!

Mess... not in a good way.

It walked this very narrow line between a parody and serious action drama and fell down to the cold circus floor.

I know I will be a minority here, but I don't think this show is good. The story isn't really what you expect it to be and when you try to adjust to the silliness and light tone of it all, the show gets dark and serious out of the blue.

The premise is about clever thief, who uses his wits to outbest his oponents. He steals from the rich, gives it to the poor and he looks cool doing it. But -
none of the roberries make sense. Logic and common sense flew out of the window and everything that happend was the most random shenanigans i have ever seen. This is present in the entire show.

Multiple times per this series the plot advanced by playing random luck based games where to soundtrack would like you to think that thats the most tense scene ever (it was not).

I feel like the entire script was a first draft. They knew what they wanted to happen but didn't know how to make it happen. And when we run out of plot we throw in some random plot points to get to the finale. And all of it is a big shame because the actors are good, the show looks good (soundtrack sucks but that I can live with), the message about poor people struggling to fulfill their dreams while rich people use their leverage over them was attempted but ultimately under used. On rare occasions, there is some really good character work but that's the end of positives.

And one of the worst down sides? We get Jack and Joke dating for only 3 episodes. Even less because the curse of episode 11 is strong and omnipresent in the bl genre. Yinwar are the best actors in the industry but that alone wont save this show, relaying on their chemistry only makes the show limp from start to finish. The worst it is that we don't see all that much of them.

I am sad but, hey? Do you like the show and had blast watching it? Good for you. I would only recommend if you are hardcore Yinwar fan.

Messy story and writing

The acting by Yin, War and the other main characters was strong and often outstanding. Cinematography and music were professional.
The problems with this drama were with the script and writing. It was messy, confusing and seemed thrown together. Too many narrative parts were left out such as some explanatory background of the four horseman, the preposterous and confusing monopoly game they played and why, etc. It felt like there were too many storylines being juggled resulting in an unfocused plot. This drama obviously had a good budget. Why wasn't more time and money spent on the writing and editing?

Please ignore the rating

Ngl, I have been waiting for this series since months and DAMN it was *worth* it. The story, cinematography, acting and bgm everything was pure perfection. Episode 1 already has me hooked can't wait to see how the story would unfold. YinWar are giving the best performance. I know it's going to be a masterpiece already. I hope monday will come faster TT. If i wasn't Yin Anan Wong and War Wanarat Ratsameerat's fan already i would've have become one now. I hope they could fix the ratings so more fans will come and watch their brilliant performance.
