Solve some of my wonders.

I really forgot the fact that FCY had practice martial art for so long, until the scene with General He. If we combine 10+ years of practice with innate talent, good physical build, strength and agility, its actually not weird for her to defeat Shi Hu alone. Besides, Shi Hu underestimate her for she is a girl with small stature. You are half way losing once you underestimate your enemy. General He reminiscing his memory with Fan Erniu makes me feel sad and nostalgic ಥ‿ಥ my kokoro. Btw the dialogue " Behind us lies the land that we must protect." Is so touching.

The Weight of Becoming

First Impression
This episode felt like a turning point — emotionally heavy, but also setting the FL firmly on her path.

Episode Thoughts
This episode dives deeper into both the political chaos and the emotional weight our characters are carrying. The male lead uncovers more about Qi Min, realising he is the Imperial grandson and rightful heir — which makes everything even more dangerous considering how unstable he is. He’s ruthless, killing without hesitation, but at the same time, every scene he’s in is so compelling to watch. His interaction with Manager Yu, where he opens up about the massacre from 17 years ago, adds another layer to his character, and somehow she manages to escape.

On the FL’s side, we really see her struggling with the reality of killing. She just wants to protect her people, but that leads to a meaningful conversation with the Grand Tutor, who challenges her thinking. He makes her realise that her abilities are too important to ignore — especially after everything she’s already done to protect the city. It’s a tough internal conflict because she still sees the enemy as people like her and the thug boys, not faceless enemies.

Her meeting with General Hu feels like it should be a big moment, especially with the hint that we might learn more about her parents. But of course, he keeps quiet and pushes it off until after the battle — which, let’s be honest, is never a good sign. Their sparring scene was great, and the reveal that he was the one who named her adds a deeper emotional connection for the audience, even if she doesn’t know it yet.

Captain Li returns, still clearly crushing on the FL, but is quickly sent off on a mission to stop the enemy. Meanwhile, the FL comes to a big decision — she can’t sit this out. After everything, she chooses to fight and steps into her role, fully suited in the battle gear given to her by General Hu. It really feels like the moment she’s becoming the fighter she’s meant to be.

Character Notes
The female lead continues to grow in such a compelling way. Her internal struggle with killing versus protecting people feels real, and this episode really pushes her toward becoming a true fighter.
The male lead is more in the background here but is uncovering important truths about Qi Min, which will definitely matter later.
Qi Min is chaotic and dangerous, but honestly, he’s magnetic every time he appears.
The Grand Tutor once again plays a key role in guiding the FL, while General Hu feels important but suspiciously temporary given the “after the battle” comment.
Captain Li is still holding onto his feelings, adding a quiet layer of tension.

Final Thoughts
This episode is all about hard choices and stepping into who you’re meant to be. It feels like the calm before something big, with the FL finally choosing to fight. I’m both excited and slightly terrified for what’s coming next.

Favourite Moment
The FL deciding she can’t stand back anymore and stepping into her battle role.

Trope Check
Hidden royal identity, tragic villain backstory, reluctant warrior, mentor guidance, “after the battle” death flag, love triangle tension, stepping into destiny

Stay here or Return home

Our Marquis finding out Boaer history and sending him back to Lin an. Where QQ escaped from QM and meet CY near LC city border. (So lazy writing here imo) According to XZ advanced news, General He took them to his town and CY met LHA. After final moment, CY inner conflicts of killing soldiers in battlefield vs killing random ppl, she joined the army. Instead of returning to her home town Where XZ and Prince CX army meet in battlefield.

Birth of General Fan Chang Yu

Episode 29 of Pursuit of Jade really said “new arc unlocked” and did not hold back, because Qi Min’s identity reveal flips the whole vibe into something more political and battlefield heavy, and honestly, I am so here for it. After days of my feed being spammed with those boom boom scenes of Xie Zheng and Chang Yu, plus Qi Min and Qian Qian, we finally get the long awaited Qi Min and Qian Qian moment, and wow… the drama gods brought back the iconic curtains, but this time Zeng Qing Jie turned them into pure art. The drapes, the lighting, the close up lip smooching… it was giving aesthetic cinema and spicy romance at the same time, like a perfectly plated dish that looks too pretty to eat but you devour anyway. On the softer side, Bao Er’s identity reveal makes every interaction with Xie Zheng hit differently, and knowing he is the heir to the throne while Xie Zheng is basically his ultimate weapon has me screaming internally for a season 2 with Bao Er and Chang Ning already. That said, Qian Qian’s escape felt a bit like fast travel mode activated, because her suddenly freeing herself and conveniently running into Chang Yu near Luocheng and Jizhou felt a little too neat, even if I get the drugging part, but fine, I will let it slide because the show is just too pretty and engaging to nitpick too hard. Speaking of engaging, I was lowkey thriving when Li Huai An reunited with Chang Yu at General He’s mansion, because their dynamic felt so natural and comfy, and his soft gaze had me side eyeing like… is that big brother energy or something else, because even General He looked like he was enjoying the tea as much as I was. Someone please cast Tian Xi Wei and Ren Hao in their own romance drama, thank you very much. Then the emotional core came swinging in with Chang Yu’s father and General He, and wow, that whole sequence was chef’s kiss. The sparring scene transitioning into memories of her father, their brotherhood, the warmth, the history… I was this close to ugly crying. When it was revealed that General He named Chang Yu and you see that proud, almost fatherly smile on his face, it just hits straight in the kokoro. Add Grand Tutor Tao into the mix, even with his slightly out of nowhere entrance, and I appreciated how he grounded Chang Yu with a more nuanced view of war, not just blood and blades but also sacrifice and responsibility. And then we arrive at the moment, Chang Yu choosing to stay and defend Luocheng, putting on the armor, tying her hair into that clean ponytail, and boom, character evolution complete. She is no longer that small town butcher girl, she is General Fan, and I felt that transformation in my bones. The final scene left me so full because her charisma was off the charts, like she just leveled up into her final form. Also, sneaky detail, Qian Qian casually mentioning mouth to mouth resuscitation lowkey reminds us of her transmigration background, which still feels a bit random in this otherwise grounded story, but I guess that is a chaos ingredient we will question another day.
