Not entirely the same, however the aspect of incorporating learning Chinese or Mandarin is a highlight in both of the dramas. While learning Chinese in these dramas are for vastly different reasons, they are both a good watch.
I Told the Sunset about You is more cinematographic which pulls it together more since it feels like a more serious drama.
Love in Translation is truthfully a feel good drama, with some serious topics and scenes thrown in.
Both are great though!

Both series centered around main characters trying to start and manage their own business, then falling in love with their co-workers. Both series have a half-black character and a gender nonconforming character working for said business. Also in both of them the main character's very beautiful and successful ex-girlfriend shows up. And both have a scene when the main character wears an animal costume to attract costumers.
