        Wu Wangyan stared at Hanba. “I never brought Lu Wuyi with me? How could that be possible? We were always together”

        Hanba shook his head gently. He glanced towards Mu Long. “Mu Long, could you stay outside for a few minutes? The topic I will be discussing with Wu Wangyan is very private”

        Mu Long got up, taking the scroll with her, walking to the door and closing it behind her.

        “Why do you need her to go?”

        “Because this story is a very sensitive topic. It has to deal with Mu Long’s grandmother, Su Jian.” Hanba responded, his voice growing quieter, tinged with sorrow. “The heatwave is connected to my voice. I tried my best to make sure that I couldn’t activate it. In the weaving shop of what should now be known as part of the Wei Manor, I met Su Jian. Su Jian kept on pestering me to speak and when I didn’t, she went over to you. You put a spell on her so that when I spoke, the spell would be broken”

        “I did that?” Wu Wangyan was stunned. How could she have been the one that caused the heatwave in the city to happen? So not only did I help cause the extinction of the flood dragon tribe but also made this natural disaster happen?

        “You were after the dragon deity power that Chiwen gave to me,” Hanba said. “And other people were after me too, people from Shilin sect. That is how you met Si Feng.

        Because I spoke, the heatwave immediately occurred, bringing ruin to the city and plunging Su Jian’s family into death. Su Jian was devastated, casting herself away from everyone. I tried many times to comfort her but she didn’t want to hear any excuses,” Hanba said sadly. “I managed to get into contact with her way later, when she was on her deathbed. She told me to take care of her grandaughter”

        “Is that why you have been taking care of Mu Long?” Wu Wangyan asked him, remembering how Hanba provided shelter and supplies to the young woman. “Will she despise you if she knew everything?”

        Hanba looked dejected. “I’m not sure. She has been asking me a lot of questions about her family. She knows that a heatwave happened but doesn’t know who caused it”

        Outside the closed door, Wu Shiguang sat beside You Chi, Li Jie, and Mu Long, listening with a blank expression to the young woman’s excessive chattering.

        “Hopefully it rains soon,” Mu Long asked. “I’m begging for the dragon deity to come.” She smiled slightly, an upwards curve in her lips, her eyes drawn into crescents. “By the way,” she added, turning to Li Jie. “You are a close associate to the dragon deity, correct?”

        Li Jie, who was wearing a similar expression to Wu Shiguang, turned his head and slowly drew himself away from a pillar, his eyebrow twitching. “Miss,” he said, approaching closer. “That is true that I am an associate of the dragon deity but he is currently in seclusion. It would be quite out of character to bring him out.”

        Wu Shiguang sighed, his expression darkening slightly. His lover was in a room with another man for nearly half the day. He was worried that because of Wu Wangyan’s alluring and seductive nature, Hanba would cause him problems.

        In the illusion realm, they had been together for many years, acting as husband and wife, where they developed genuine feelings. He knew her depths just as much as she knew his.

        Wu Shiguang, although a cold gentlemen, was domineering at heart. He knew he couldn’t tolerate it if the woman he loved was with another man.

        “Are you crazy? It’s the middle of the day! We shouldn’t be getting into the pond!” Lu Wuyi stared at Ji Ling, wrapping her hands around his neck as he jumped down the rocks and started to get into the water.

        “What does it matter?” he said indifferently. “No one will come here. Even if they do, we are wearing clothes so you shouldn’t worry about others seeing your body.” He lowered his voice, adding. “And besides, I’m the only person who seen you entirely”

        Lu Wuyi: “...”

        “Why are you so shameless?”

        Ji Ling raised his eyebrow and loosened his grip, causing Lu Wuyi to quickly wrap her arms around his neck, holding on for dear life, her face flustering red from the sudden movement.

        He chucked: “Why are you holding on to me then? Do you want to seduce me or something?”  

        Lu Wuyi: “...”

        “I could just drop you straight into the pond,” he continued, calmly speaking. “You could go for a bath!” His eyes sparkled even brighter and he added somewhat mischievously: “And I could join you-”

        Lu Wuyi grabbed his chin and shook it. “Stop it,” she complained, fixing him with an angry glare. “That’s not my point! Why do you keep on twisting my words?”

        “I don’t know what you are talking about.” Ji Ling said in an innocent manner.

”You-”

Lu Wuyi struggled from his embrace, stomping on his foot, water lapping her ankles as she grabbed Ji Ling’s neck and started shaking it back and forth, violently choking him.

        Ji Ling lost his balance and the two fell into deeper water, instantly getting their clothes drenched. Mist swirled around the two, picking up an array of fallen plum blossom leaves that flew around them, drifting like a snowflake.

        The two continued their banter, with Lu Wuyi’s screams getting muffled by the sound of rushing water. Ji Ling however, didn’t put up a fight, allowing Lu Wuyi to beat him up.

        “Where did you learn all of this talk?” she asked, loosening her grip to give Ji Ling the air needed to talk. “You couldn’t have learned it during your years of seclusion in that gloomy cave of yours. Did you secretly visit a brothel without my knowledge?”

“I didn’t,” Ji Ling protested. “Do you remember our wedding ceremony in the illusion realm?”

“What about it?”

“Di Zhu’s father gave me some books and phrases to use,” Ji Ling said carefully. “They were about bedroom secrets and how to spice up relationships”

“So you read them? Lu Wuyi raged.

“I only looked through the first pages- ouch! Stop waterboarding me! Are you crazy? Are you trying to kill me? Hey- Don’t you dare use that ice spike. Those hurt so much!”
