Episode Title: I Won't Let Go of Your Hand Anymore.
Kyujuro seeks guidance from Okita but cannot seem to reach the state of "being yourself" that Okita speaks of. He struggles to master the sword-dancing technique he will perform with Daisaku at the Aizu Domain audience but coincidentally runs into Serizawa-san, who advises him and inadvertently inspires him. The Choshu clan decides to disrupt the meeting, but Shonai Gengo is warned by one of his comrades about the mission being risky, as even the spies who had infiltrated might be in danger. Gengo reminds him that they were asked to throw away their lives for their cause.
Namunosuke and Shinnojo ask Daisaku to help Kyujuro, but when he jests that he had asked him to run around like a wild boar, a term that Serizawa-san had used to describe Kyujuro, Namunosuke explodes, throwing him to the ground for disregarding Kyujuro's earnestness.
Saito and Sanosuke take Daisaku out to have soba, but he is distracted and disturbed. When learning that Kyujuro was indeed running around, Daisaku seeks him out, only to learn that he had somehow taken his advice seriously and apologizes for mistaking Daisaku to be mean. A guilty Daisaku decides to help him, and they practice the dance together, reconciling, much to Namunosuke and Shinnojo's pleasure. As they celebrate, Daisaku is reminded of his happy times with Gengo Shonai and Mitsunaga Toji.
Hijikata, however, becomes increasingly agitated by Serizawa's attempt at opulence and seeking out connections, and Kondo Isami ponders where his actions would lead them. The audience is a success, and the Mibu Roshigumi are recognized by the Aizu Lord.
Gengo Shonai is shocked to hear that Katsuragi Kokoro, the head of the Choshu faction, had indeed called off the attack after receiving a secret message that the team consisted of harmless young men with dreams and posed no threat. Katsuragi questions Gengo's confusion and tells him that the letter is from his own comrade, whom he had no choice, but to trust.
