One of the best youth drama!
Started to watch this with zero expectations since I've never heard/known any of the casts before and it turned out to be one of my fav drama ever. The plot kind of reminded me of my high school days. I loved the cast and ost the most. I'm actually quite surprised with the ML, not only he's good looking but also natural in acting. The chemistry between the leads is really good and their matching fits are the cutest. I would love to see them in the same project again. I do totally recommend this for those who like light, sweet and fluffy romance. It will warm you heart no doubt! Worth watching, definitely 10/10.Was this review helpful to you?

The drama makes you want to go back and experience first love, what I love from this drama they started as hating each other. The more you hate the more you love. Then the reality that once you experience hardship in life you can't concentrate just what happened to Zhou Siyue. I'm still wishing this drama to have more episodes, been watching this drama everyday.Din Xian portrays the typical girl in love, and she knows too where too stop. The story is so cute and the cast, I wish to Chen Gege and Rainbow another drama, their chemistry is out of this world. I'm a person who easily ship a pair in a drama but once I get hooked with them it means I can sense chemistry. Their acting is so real, even the supporting roles, you will love their story too.

I don't like the main character (boy) role. I like this drama
I don't like that fanzhixin support role.I think that fanzhixin is the main role. Fanzhixin is best for main role and main character.
I like this story and acting. But the main role character (boy) role I don't like. Main role character (girl) is acting is good and fanzhixin acting. Fanzhixin acting is awesome.

fav youth cdrama of all time
This drama is absolute perfection. From the first episode I was HOOKED, the storyline and pacing are amazing. Male lead is a total golden retriever energy, zero coldness to the female lead. I love that they went from somewhat enemies, to friends, to lovers. this is slow burn done right, throughout their high school years despite them not dating I still felt all the fluff and butterflies I’d feel watching them as a couple. The buildup to their relationship after they went to college is truly incredible, totally worth waiting 19 episodes for them to become a couple! I could gush about this drama forever bc it’s just so good and I’ve yet to find another drama to compare, I’ve actually dropped a few recently and just rewatched our secret instead.Was this review helpful to you?
So sweet and addictive
Things I adored:1 The ML. I don't know how to express how great an actor I think he is. After Hidden Love I just feel in love with him and he didn't disappoint here either. He speaks with his eyes. No matter what I write I only can say that I just love him.
2 Her father. Such a great character and he reminded me of my dad when he showed how much he respected her choices and how much he cared. It made me miss my dad even more.
3 The second couple. I just adored them. So sweet and funny. I'm happy with the ending.
4 The whole high school years. It was such a great period. I felt everything they felt. The stress, the hope, the disappointment, the friendships, the joy.
5 Their relationship during these years. Just seeing him help with her backpack made my day each time.
Things I loved:
1 Their math prof. I truly though he was a great teacher and an even greater person. I had some great professors and I still miss my school days when I think of them.
2 The university years. I didn't love them as much as the high school years but I still loved them. There were some great moments, funny, sweet, heartbreaking.
3 His parents. I think both were great characters and it's good how they showed that sometimes problems arise without anyone be responsible. Just a few bad decisions and we are at the end of the precipice. I'm happy with how it turned out.
4 The ending. I loved that he went abroad, that she found her own path.
5 The FL character. I loved that she decided to stay back and follow her dream. I loved that she didn't know what she wanted, because that's how reality is for most young people at this age. That she was honest but also brave enough to say stop when it didn't work after he rejected her. I loved that she was an artist.
6 The SML. He made some mistakes that made me dislike him for a few episodes, but he redeemed himself and he was a good person for most of the series. Also he is handsome which, yes counts.
Things I liked:
1 The FL. I can't say I loved the actress. I loved the character, but the actress didn't do it for me. Maybe it was that sometimes she reminded of a ten years girl and that didn't work for me. I also founded her a bit unnatural. At the same time, I did like her enough to continue the series whilst when I dislike one of the main leads I drop the series. I just can't go as far as saying that I loved her.
2 The third couple. I didn't care enough but it was okay. I didn't dislike them, they just didn't have enough time for me to fall in love with them.
3 Her friends at the university. Again, I didn't dislike any and that's rare.
4 Her brother. I wasn't in love with him, but he was okay in small doses and he made me laugh in the last episodes so there you have it.
Things I disliked:
1 Her mother. I don't hate her like others, but I certainly won't say I liked her. Push your dreams to your child is something I loathe. same for favoring one of your children. But at the same time, there's no doubt she loved her children and wanted the best for them. Also, she ended up doing the right thing, so I can forgive her.
2 The whole thing with his father. Unnecessary drama in my opinion, and it could be better. This was too dramatic without really have the right ending. Something lacked. I wanted someone to pay in grandiose way.
To conclude. The best high school drama I've seen. I tried several but this is the only one I kept going back day after day.

After a long time I watched a really refreshing drama,this is really worth ur time it isn't just abt a love story but abt ur youth, passion,love, dreams.I totally loved every moment in it. I will someday rewatch it. The cast were all really amazing, I really liked the main leads chemistry a lot and the other two couples were adorable as well. I really appreciate the directors and writers and all those who participated in this amazing drama. Process of growing up
PLEASE DON'T SLEEP ON THIS DRAMA!Cast:
To start off, our ML is not your cold-stoic face ML. He's just like any other guy in your school who's a teacher's pet and is friendly towards everyone, a genius and has looks too. I would say his character development slowly turned dark when he goes off to college bc of some reasons (u gotta watch to know more). But all i can tell you is that, no matter where/what the FL does he will still fall head over heels for her again. Oh, most importantly is he's loyal to one so if u're looking for a playboy type, skip this (but u'll regret it!)
Our FL is just a qt who needs to be protected. Just like any other introverted girl, there she is closing her doors and trying to avoid any attention. But as the story progresses, i would say that she has the most obvious character development. And like us, she's a mediocre who tries her best to pass, but there will be times where she fails yet she got stronger. You'll soon love her bc she's just adorable; the way she confessed her love for ML and how she got stronger.
The side characters are also funny like i've never seen such a good combination of friends who try to understand one another. Even the side characters were given their own happy ending which rarely happens in cdrama.
The casts' chemistry omg... it looked so real even the sad scenes... idk who's cutting onions but whenever I see them get hurt, i'll cry too :<<< though all of them look young, unlike other cdramas where their casts look awkward this story however, won't ever disappoint you i promise.
Storyplot:
Goodness, it's a chef's kiss!! As an audience, when i watched this till the end, this story gave me a nostalgic feeling of when we were in highschool experiencing all the fluttering feelings. The story is very relatable to our lives, even the ML who is a genius gets distracted sometimes and drop in ranks. The FL who tries hard but still fail in some things.
And when they started to go separate ways to college and all turbulence happened, it certainly made me feel sad knowing that's how reality works when we grow older. But all in all, this story talks about the importance of friendship and embracing one another's weaknesses while they take us on their growing up journey.
If you want a ML who will nvr cry, then this isn't for you bc our ML here is a legit human being who experiences all sorts of emotions.
OST:
Even the songs omg are masterpiece. EVERY song fits perfectly with each scene and u'll nvr get tired listening to the songs!!!

I just love this drama .
The plot is definitely not new. Just like any other school drama, it too circles around youth and friends. But what made this drama different is it's storyline. The feeling is different when you see the chemistry between male and female leads. The secret the male lead keeps behind his chest makes you totally fall in love with him. I felt that male lead had already fallen into her from the very beginning. Moreover they had known each other since childhood. I just love the male lead. If you are looking a for drama afer you watched melodrama or high voltage drama.... Then this drama you can definately watch to lighten your mood amd refresh yourself.This story is so cute...i cannot stop adoring the couple so mich. From high school students to uni couple to fiance and fiancee.....life was roller coaster for them with their troubles coming but what survived and remained strong was their love.
What i loved is that this drama till the last episode and after watching last episode. It gave me satisfaction. Sometimes we feel that maybe side character story could have shown at the end. But this drama showed everything till the last episode we know what happened to side characters even if their scene is there or not.
Each character have their own story and each couple or character in this drama played by the actor and actresses did a amazing job. The acting was on point and it made it so cute and adoring to watch them (i still cant stop adoring them). All couples in this drama is so cute.
There maybe sometimes you will be like why this misunderstanding why this....he could have said this or she but it before our head burst this plot makes it alright. So no need to worry about another person trying to get ML or FL attention. No evil plot is there...i mean kind of evil plot bot not that much.
Some of the scenes especially high school scenes were highly relatable. This drama is something you can expect in real.lofe but not also real life. Ost of this drama is so soothing loved it.
Its a cute love story....go for it!!! 24 eps wont dissapoint you!!! I hope you all like it!!!!

i considered removing half a star because i really did not understand the plot where SiYue rejected Ding Xian feelings for so long, and also where DX even got the confidence to publicly call out SiYue on her first day, or the whole i'm going to follow you plot. how did being a painter go to being a programmer? no idea how we got there, and then the break-up, yeah no. But the ending and just how happy, sweet and just beautiful the story and characters tied up made me cry for 10 minutes straight and I couldn't not give this 5 stars. Looking forward to watch more of Chen Zhe Yuan work's.

We grow & prosper with the right person | A Mellow & Wholesome school romance drama like no others!
Ding Xian, if I hadn't had you in my life, I wouldn't be the person I am now - Zhou Si YueI don't know how and where to start with this review, but... I just wanna let people know that this is not your usual clichė school romance drama. For some reason, even when the leads look young and innocent they were able to pull their characters with utmost precision and conviction. I guess the saying "Looks can be deceiving" fits these sets of actors the best.
If there's one thing I wanna address as early as now, it's probably how amazing this story executed different types of Parenting. At first, I really hated Ding Xian's mom for being pretentious and control freak but as the story progresses, I realized that she was made like that to show us how a normal citizen more so a Mother survive in this kind of society. It's a representation that all the tough and strict treatment we received from our parents growing up are some of their techniques in giving us lessons and protection. And it was also their way to obtain assurance and peace of mind that we're doing fine outside of their eyesights.
In terms of story progression... I would say that this production has done it magnificently. It has different phases and stages but something I truly look up to them is how they kept the characters rational and mature almost 95% of the time. I can't even remember a single moment when I got aggravated for extreme ridiculousness from any of the cast. This is something worthy to be mentioned because it's really rare for a drama not to use those ludicrous plot devices to heighten up the show. I genuinely respect and admire them for that.
When it comes to the love story and overall romance... I would say that I'm exceptionally satisfied on how they deal with the Main leads. Both Ding Xian & Zhou Si Yue already have a foundation and I was glad that they were able to utilize it to expound more on how mature and logical they are in handling their relationship. In terms of Song Zi Qi & Kong Sha Di's love story... I guess, I should already be thankful that they were still featured quite a bit during their University days and even got a spotlight for themselves during their own conflicts. Which is way better in comparison on how Jiang Chen & You Ke Ke got offscreened for the rest of the 2nd half of the show. Dang! We only see them once during the Spring break reunion and the rest are just update of them getting engaged and pregnant. Tragic!
Also, I wanna commend this story for not entirely destroying any of the characters. I find it fascinating how they can keep on being considerate and civil even to those who treat them badly. Like how? I really need to learn that. Cause I tend to always retaliate back once offended. Hahaha! Kidding aside, I'm just really pleased on how Su Bu Cong turned out to be after getting a bit misdirected to the wrong path. I mean, among all the characters, he's that one person I can't afford to witness go astray. Cause he-is-that-FINE! and I'm glad they never taint that good aura and reputation of him.
Lastly, cinematography, design and color scheme really brought this dramas mood and ambiance in a completely different level. They may have enriched some of the colors and design but it never, even once, hurt the overall quality of the drama. I'd say It even accentuated the hidden charms of this production as a whole.
P.S. Aside from Si Yue & Bu Cong's cute rivalry. One thing that really left an impression in me are the words from Si Yue's father.

Story - 10, I honestly even tried 'quite hard' to find faults and something dislikeable about this drama so that I can give it a 9.5 at best but the way they delivered and executed the whole story left me no windows to put my criticisms on. I can't say it's flawless but it has that aura and vibe where you just can't be audacious as to criticize it in any way or form. It was well-created and properly put together. A School romance that's far ahead compared to those tiring overly clichėd ones we're all used to.
Acting/Cast - 10, Spectacular and perfect choice of Artists! Aside from Chen Zhe Yuan, I was really worried about the rest of the cast since I'm not really familiar with them but their performances proved me wrong. They played their roles very well and I never really felt any awkwardness watching any of them. And as I mentioned above... Even when they all look young, their acting and aura tells me otherwise. They're professional actors/actresses who were chosen for their specific roles because they deserved it.
Music - 10, Entirely addicting and satisfying. It has that emotional and sentimental impact. At first, I was kind of indifferent towards the Opening OST but as time goes by, it became the emotional source/drive that made me so vulnerable and sensitive to every single moment. I swear! Be it romantic, happy, sad or emotional scene as long as you got that song playing on the background I'll immediately become a mess. Not to mention how equally good the other songs are.
Rewatch Value - 10, I'll take this section as if it's a question of whether I'll willingly recommend this to others or not. And of course, that's a YES! I will never regret watching this masterpiece and would love to see more people watch this as well. This is a timeless show that can really measure up to those popular dramas out there!
Overall - 10, Do I even need to explain why? This production exceeded my expectation and truly satisfies me a lot. My decision of watching another contemporary drama after a long while is really worth it. Not to mention that the last one I watched was Chen Zhe Yuan's Mr. Bad. Anyways, I'm really glad I picked this drama among my long drowning list of C-drama shows! Pick this and you'll never regret. I Promise!
