What person thought that this last episode was a good idea?

My wife and I enjoyed this series, and we were looking forward to the last episode, but the Argan was unnecessary and distracting. You could have had him “need to forgive himself” (which he didn’t) and come back more romantically. First, the writer who came up with this idea should NOT be allowed to input anything else, and more importantly, the management that thought this was a good idea should be fired. You don’t make a meal better than dumping a cup of salt on it.

Great Story, Bad End

The show was AMAZING! It was so good to see another kdrama like this. I missed this genre of dramas. The whole story was really sweet and unique. Seeing the main character not take shit from anyone was so refreshing. The guy also didn’t turn out to be red flag, so yay! The kdrama was perfect for thriller fans as well, like me. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending. It was so random and unnecessary. They could have had a fun, fluffy ending but instead they tried to add some weird, political scenes into the ending. Overall the great show, just has a bad end.

Ridiculously clichéd drama with so many wrong messages!

First of I don't understand the tendency of SK writers to just pick up a random individual and make him a monster, just like the one portrayed in MOUSE, a person isn't just born criminal, every person, every criminal has a reason for his actions, be it desperation, greed, list and just his situations. Even the so-called serial killers like Jeffery Dahmer have a peculiar environment and upbringing which sort of culminates in certain behaviors of an individual. There is no random monster gene present in an individual, shows like Bates Motel and Assassination of Gianni Versace show pretty well as to how a certain crimanal ends up being where he is, the psychology, of the individual, but we'll yeah, it's beyond the scope of this cliched rom-com.

The script in itself is beyond confusing and childish, there have been so many instances where it was pretty obvious that Hong Hee Joo's mask was uncovered, yet the script kept annoying stretching that stupid cringey conversations which added no kind of build up or depth to the plot. The behavior of the ML being so repulsive and uptight and treated the FL so shittily, and just randomly being super possessive and empathetic of her in the end is super dumb, with no justifications of his actions? Wasn't three years enough for you to break down your walls?

Second, i absolutely don't digest the reason as to why Hong Hee Joo had to pretend to be mute and what her mother had to gain or lose out of it. The insensitivity of the show to use some disability of the show to gain traction from the audience to reveal it was just a suspence is quite nerving, instead of showing the struggles they go through, the show just used it as a plot armour. The FL lead loves to jump herself to death all the time and just resuscitate alive all the time, like what were the writers even thinking?

At last the worst moments of the show, the pro-zionist agenda? And what on earth was he even doing there and made his wife jump into a near death situation which in reality would've turned extremely horrendous? Were the writers smoking pot? The writers really belittled the maturity of the audience watching this show.

This show is an absolutely wasted potential, with such beautiful cinematography, catchy music, good budget, the script just ruined everything. What could've been an absolute thrilling cat and mouse chase between the ML and FL, they just ruined it by making it an absolutely cringey rom-com! Totally skippable!

at first I thought he is a total jerk but his the best the story always makes me want to wait for another episode and they make sure I can’t guess what will happen next I love it I am telling you all you have to watch this series but what’s the best that she is not boring she has her own cool story and in every new episode we are starting to know more about her they both are the best there is just one thing I don’t like and it’s the age gap you don’t even wanna know but when I am not thinking about this the rest is lovely and you won’t even feel the age gap that is in real life

When the Phone Rings": A Perfect Romantic Drama with a Unique Twist (5/5)

When the Phone Rings is an underrated K-drama that masterfully combines suspense, emotional depth, and a touch of romance. While it may not have the hype of mainstream hits, it stands out for its well-written plot and compelling performances.

The drama follows a mysterious premise where every phone call brings a new twist, testing the boundaries of trust, fate, and survival. The story keeps viewers on edge, blending thriller elements with moments of heartfelt character interactions.

One of the drama's strongest points is its cast. The leads deliver standout performances, portraying their characters with authenticity and depth. The chemistry between them feels natural, adding an emotional layer to the gripping storyline.

The cinematography and soundtrack deserve special mention. The haunting melodies and atmospheric visuals perfectly complement the drama's tone, enhancing the overall experience.

When the Phone Rings is proof that great storytelling doesn’t always need flashy promotions. It's a must-watch for fans of thrillers with emotional undertones. Don’t miss this hidden gem!

Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)

Classic and seductive.

Uptated every week !!!!!!!

I don't want to rush into expressing my enthusiasm, but I love stories of love and hate, and the first episode was really great. So, I'm saying welcome!!!

This series has given us everything we want as a classic K-drama in the romantic thriller genre. So far, with just two episodes, it's been quite satisfying.

Who doesn't love a contract marriage storyline? I guess we'll never get tired of it. It's potentially very exciting and intriguing.

The chemistry between the couple is definitely intense.

I'm eagerly looking forward to the flirting period.

I'll definitely continue watching!

Comments on Episodes 3 and 4:

The series continued with the same excitement and intrigue as the episodes released in the first week. Since it will last for 12 episodes, I think they need to move the plot along a bit faster, and I expect we’ll see more detailed events next week.

This week, we learned more about the backgrounds of our couple. Both of them have traumas influencing their behavior (of course, it's a must-have in K-dramas). The source of these traumas stems from their bad parents (yes, here we go again).

In a way, both are trying to protect their lives, but they are unaware of each other’s struggles. I believe that in this episode, some of the emotions they’ve been hiding came to light, even if just a little.

Baek Sa-eon’s feelings are clear, but for some reasons, he is not open with Hong Hee-joo. I think he feels guilty about forcing her to stay by his side, which is why he pulls back. He believes his wife hates him, but he protects her in his own way. In the coming weeks, we’ll see the reasons behind it more clearly.

Hong Hee-joo believes she is just a backup and is definitely confused about her feelings for her husband. She has other pressing issues to think about, and she’s focusing more on those. However, she will have the chance to reflect on her feelings in the upcoming episodes because she can no longer deny what her husband and his father have done for her.

She even confessed that he is her husband to protect him, omooo!!! She has now proven to him that she is not alone.

I can't wait to see the scenes of this couple getting to know each other and flirting. I hope they give us plenty of those moments.

I’m eagerly looking forward to the next episodes!

Would recommend skipping the final episode

Exceptional from the beginning to the second to last episode, I loved how this show is full of plot twists and got me hooked right away. However, the last episode unfortunately feels very unnecessary. It somehow ruined bit by bit of my experience to the point I was begging it to end. I still don’t think the reasoning behind him becoming this “military soldier” in a war is fitting and it doesn’t expand the plot in any way to even be worth making a WHOLE episode about it. The scenarios change was so dramatically that it felt like I was watching another drama. Very. upsetting.

Love everything. The cast especially the FL and ML. Their chemistry on and off screen is a top notch. The story, you have to watch to find out hehe.
I'm head over heels in love with this drama. The last time I'm drawn to a kdrama like this was during CLOY.
i hope they will work together again or perform on a same stage.

GOOD BUT NOT MY STYLE

If I could speak for the majority, I'd say this drama was good. I will explain in awhile why i didn't like it as much.

First, it had all the elements and clichès that a typical kdrama has (contract marriage, rich dude poor girl, ml saving damsel in distress, rich fam feud and etc) and I must say, it did remind me so much of the days when I would watch kdrama purely for the delusion and fun of it all. This drama was honestly an episode turner, it was bingeworthy and I wasn't bored at all.

However, for me personally, I did think it lacked substance, emotions, and feelings. It had all the perfect elements, plot, and thrill set up but I couldnt figure out what was missing.

While I like FL, and have watched her dramas in the past, I do agree with some of the reviews here saying she really has to improve her acting. It was good but I know she could really do so much better. She had the same downturned eyebrow expression the entire series and her crying was a little dead (idk ig i'm so used to watching dramas with heavy criers like park boyoung, kim go eun and shin hye sun) there is ofcourse always room for improvement.

And they totally botched that ending too. I was so confused with the last ep. It felt like the producers/writers tried so hard to make this drama so extravagant that it became too much and ruined the drama. A calm satisfying ending would have sufficed.

I'm still giving this a 7.5 for a plot though. This drama would be best for watchers who just started kdrama.

? Thoughts After 4/12 Episodes: First Impressions ?

I must admit, I didn’t have high expectations for this drama 🤔 and was even tempted to skip it. The genres—Thriller, Mystery, Romance, Drama—didn’t grab me initially. 🤷‍♂️ And honestly (I can’t believe I’m saying this 😅), I wasn’t the biggest fan of either lead before this.

BUT WOW... this drama has completely changed my opinion! 😍 Both leads fit their roles perfectly, and their performances have really won me over. 👏👏 The cinematography, music, and OST? Absolutely stunning! 🎶✨

Yes, if you really dig, you can find plot issues and faults (as with any drama, tbh). But this isn’t one to nitpick over. Dramas are all about escapism, and this one, based on a novel 📖, does a fantastic job pulling you into its world.

At just 4 episodes in, I’m already hooked! 🥰 If they can keep this momentum going, this could easily turn into a standout drama. Fingers crossed! 🤞

It was good until it wasn't!

I was very excited to watch this series, and honestly speaking it delivered until it didn't. Everything was going smoothly and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Everytime an episode ended, I couldn't wait to watch another one, waiting was absolute toucher like pin in the eye toucher... 😑 but the last 2 episodes was lacking a lot, it felt like watching a derailed train.. When the phone rings could have been a 10 star series. They just had to ruin the last two episodes. The last episodes was supposed to be a wrap up, but i felt like they just opened a can of worms that was really unnecessary. At least the last 15 minutes of the show was bearable, hence i gave the overall 8.5...

Most interesting romance mystery drama!! Unexpectedly, the plot is interesting story line and strong chemistry between main leads.

"When the phone rings" is best drama of 2024 for me!!

I am not fan of actor and actress !! But I really enjoy watching their strong chemistry!!

Still can't think the secret of main lead actor!!

Hope the ending is good and there is no plot hole !!!
The storyline/ script is well-written and fast-paced !!!

.
Most Romantic drama series in 2024 are flop in the middle or at the end!!

Unexpectedly , "When the phone rings" is still the best romantic plot line drama among them in 2024x
