Polished Cast, Stolen Costumes
Scarlet Heart Thailand looks polished and star-studded, but the costumes are a glaring misstep.Many of the royal outfits and accessories in the trailer are unmistakable Konbaung-era Myanmar court dress, yet they’re presented as part of a Thai historical fantasy without a single acknowledgment or credit. Using another country’s distinctive cultural heritage this way—especially without clarification—is not “inspiration.” It’s appropriation that erases context and misleads audiences.
GMMTV’s silence on the issue only makes it worse. Fancy production values don’t excuse the lack of basic cultural respect.
