This is a coming-of-age film that captures the troubles and growth of young people living in a provincial city. Taiyo Suzuki, a third-year high school student who lives on Hikashima island, famous for its puffer fish and octopus, begins to question the island's unique culture and customs, as well as living as the fourth generation of the inn, as he mingles with friends at a high school outside the island. He does not dislike the island; in fact, he frequently fantasizes about leaving. He spent days in misery with no specific goals. One day, Taiyo, who was helping out at the inn as usual, encounters Rinku Matsuda and Haruka Sano, two female college students from Nagoya. When the two of them travel around the island, Taiyo begins to picture a glistening world he is unfamiliar with.
