Lu Jiang Lai openly gains Rong Shan Bao’s protection and authority, provoking jealousy among the household and suitors. He refuses to live as Wen Can’s substitute, insisting his devotion is to Rong alone. After humiliating schemes against scholar Bai Ying Sheng are exposed, Lu deliberately creates rumors of intimacy with Rong to shield her from pressure. His victory over Yang Ding Cheng in a duel proves his strength, but poisoned steel nearly kills him.

Episode is full of especially pretty scenery. The set design is really lovely.

The claws come out! In a shocking twist, Fifth Sister (blind sis) joins Fourth Sister (evil sis) in a scheme to mock and bully the scholar. Fifth Sister seems to flirt with LJL a bit. What is she scheming?
RSB (Rong Shan Bao—FL) propositions LJL (Lu Jiang Lai, aka Lord Lu, aka Fusheng—ML) with a scheme ultimately designed to keep Cousin Wen safe. He rejects her, but counteroffers by proposing a more-blatantly obvious means to appear as her favored one. He asks what’s in it for him. She promises to find out who tried to kill him and offers him complete protection. He starts openly flirting with her which stirs up deadly jealousy amongst amongst the suitors.
The way LJL made RSB smile in that swing though! The ice queen is slowly melting.
