Came for Wang Xingyue; Found it Surprisingly Funny

I had low expectations for this story; I'm not a fan of romcoms, but I needed some Wang Xingyue content after the end of the brilliant show "The Wanted Detective". It seems, recognising that some of us may be in withdrawal, iQIYI recently uploaded and made free to watch (on their app and on YT) the entire 24-episode show.

This has some absurd plot lines, some annoying ones too -- I found Lin Chi's sister and her master immensely irritating. And the misunderstandings between the protagonists are predictable and sometimes even irksome. However, WXY's acting is as superb as ever. He made me empathise with a character who, for all intents and purposes, is Pinocchio waiting to become a real boy.

As someone who was born without the senses of touch, taste, or smell, Mo Ching Chen regains sensory perception as soon as he touches the heroine, Lin Chi. So, naturally, he wants to keep her with him at all times as he finally experiences the joys of cold snow, the fragrance of brewed tea, and the taste of salt and spice. Inevitably, these two fall in love, but not before some laugh out loud moments ("You were at 53..."). The earlier episodes also have some hilarious acting from the FL, such as when Mo Ching Chen calmly exploits a loophole in their contract, and her frustration boils over at him.

But Mo Ching Chen is a prince, a martial arts expert, and a recluse living in the outskirts of the capital. Romance comes with the inevitable court politics, a manipulative emperor, an overly invested empress, and an evil scheming brother.

This does feel like a series of haphazard plot lines thrown together to make a show, but it's highly enjoyable regardless. The chemistry between the main leads is good, there's plenty of kissing for those can't do without, and it really is quite funny.

Don't take the story seriously. This is a good show to watch when you have nothing else happening and you want a laugh along with a serious dose of Wang Xingyue's angular beauty. If you're looking for depth or meaning, stay away.

I *wish* this were better, the first half was a real struggle for me, the second half was ok at best

I don't review often. Something has to really spark or bother me.
I powered through, because I am stubborn like that, and something has to be pretty abysmal for me NOT to finish it, even if my soul is making banshee noises by the end.

TL;dr
~ If you need your characters to remain true to their introduction qualities, or at least to gracefully evolve with experience. Turn thine eyes elsewhere.
~ If you don't like relationships rife with willfully ignorant misunderstandings. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, put the game away.
~ If you need a plot that's thicker than broth. You're going to be sad until past the 11th episode, and then they'll add, like, some corn or something.

Suggestions:
- If you want a great 'discovering emotions' drama with interactions/interpretations that actually make sense to the events, go watch *Love Between Fairy and Devil*.
- If you want a ML who is a pure, innocent discarded prince, go watch *Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung*.

Side note: Increasing speed past 1.5 makes all their manly striding away look like little boy toddler tantrums which, I admit, pleased me to no end. X3

--- No spoilers yet
I can only say: *So much lost potential.*

The acting and production are good. The chemistry is ok, but without substance, better in the second half if you can forget how they got there.
I like the story premise, they could have done so much.
The *basis* of the characters is honestly good too, if only their interactions and interpretations had been better.

I can suspend a lot of disbelief. My issue is in the writing of the character behaviors for the first half of the series. If you're ok with characters that behave in ways immediately contrary to the person they're introduced as, then you're good to keep going. The plot does raise from child to pre-teen quality between the 11-13th episode.

I didn't have my first actual laugh until episode 14, I was too focused on the poor characterizations.

--The spoiler bits aren't until the end, and I'll note it.
If you want my irritated observations, feel free to read on.

The ML, for a guy who has never physically or emotionally felt anything, if he weren't actively trying to keep her at hand despite his contrary shared thoughts, you'd never know he was actually experiencing anything new, much less enjoying it. He's not surprised, or interested, he mostly just goes on robotically with the addition of stoically insisting she stay at hand.
The Grinch had more reaction to experiencing a feeling for goodness sake.
- The premise leaves so many opportunities for him to experience the new in a guileless way, while she overcomes her prejudice and grows fond watching him develop past his previous unintentional stoicism. - This, did not happen, at all.

And the FL. She was set up to be smart enough to figure out he had no feeling(s) in less than 24 hours of interaction without being told. She then proceeds to keep getting angry because he doesn't understand the emotions he's never had. And her ignorant insistence to apply emotions to him when she factually knows he hasn't/doesn't have them, and by extension wouldn't know what they were or how to cope with them if he *did* start experiencing them, is just, gut wrenching for me (possibly biased as someone with invisible disabilities that people constantly expect me to not be affected by).
- She was set up to be a swindler, lover of money, distrustful of the rich, not a helpless romantic who falls for every non-angry interaction that comes her way. So just let her be in it all for the money, catering to him as a rich noble, slowly falling for his innocence as he discovers so many new things. - Instead, she almost immediately assumes he must love her, in the face of him repeatedly telling her that he just values her for the senses, and then is repeatedly upset when he is emotionless and behaves aromatically. - Have a brain, or don't, but don't make a smart character who immediately turns into a shallow unaware idiot.

The ways in which they attempt to set up the initial 'this is past events as the characters know them' has an absurd number of loopholes and info that just make no sense in this setting. I like a silly story. I like a serious story. I like marvelous cheese and intense country altering plots. I don't like when I'm presented a plot so loose and full of holes that I can't possibly be taken serious as a viewer.

SPOILERS

They swap senses/senseless, and apparently, not having senses makes you a martial arts demi-god without the need to know or practice martial arts previously, or at all, or something.
- The FL sure does display a LOT of emotional turbulence, and impulsive behavior, for someone who is supposed to not be able to feel anything anymore unless she's touching ML.
- By the second half, they're both displaying inconsistent physical and emotional senses, regardless of who currently possesses the senses. It practically becomes a moot point, except for this prophecy thing.

The main (read, ONLY) antagonist.. I mean. He was fine, I guess. Obsessive, sure.
Unfortunately the final twist feels like it took away pretty much everything that was supposed to be on the line previously.
- There was no prophecy, it was a lie concocted by the consort and her dad.
- They made sure they prophecy would stick by feeding something to the pregnant Empress that resulted in the prince's lack of senses.
- The second prince, who they were doing this for was *at least* in or near his 20s already, since the FL was in her preteens during events 10 years prior. I can't imagine that this full adult wouldn't be in on the prophecy plot, since he was literally there for, if not actively participating in, the killings designed to frame the ML. I suppose they could have set him up as becoming obsessive and privately psychotic after his mother's death, believing the lies - but they didn't do that.

Became Unbearable

I read reviews before I embark on any drama.

With this drama, I did the same. The reviews were good and the drama seemed promising. However, I ended up very disappointed. The drama didn’t live up to its expectations and I didn’t know why the other viewers enjoyed it because I really could not bear it anymore. (To each his or her own.)

What I didn’t like:
- the leads weren’t that good-looking and their looks didn’t become better the more I looked at them - rather, the opposite happened
- the leads didn’t have good chemistry IMO
- the female lead really became annoying as the episodes continued - I could not stand looking at her act
- the female lead’s sister was even worse as her acting was stiff and she behaved irrationally IMO
- the storyline was fairly intriguing at the start but it became draggy and went on and on about nothing IMO and it became a tiring watch as nothing was moving

Overall, there’s nothing really great about this drama. Nothing shines. I could not stand watching it anymore after reaching mid-point.

My verdict: Please don’t waste your precious time. There are much better dramas out there! Skip this!

So funny and adorable

This drama is pure fluff and happiness. You will blush and smile with all the cutesy scenes. The leads have great chemistry are so cute. I watched this to help with my Duke Su withdrawals and while it definitely not Duke Su it certainly helped! Someone mentioned the male lead being 8 yrs younger than female lead. I would never had known. That young man look grown and fine. Must be that chiseled face of his. The female lead comedy was on point. She was giving chinese Lucille Ball minus the mischievousness. Very funny! This show is very good but the production seemed lower. It kinda came off like a play for some reason. It needed more music or something. It was very enjoyable but not something I could watch over and over.

Your Sensibility, My Destiny...Who's crying now.

Overall, Good, Sweet, enjoyable story.

Loved the emotive chemistry of our CP and second CP. I love how deep the story actually goes and yet stays true to the love that grows between the two charaters overcoming their differences and dangers together. Our hero (ML) knows early own he needs the help and trust of our FL., but is baffled in how to build a frendship let alone gain her trust. The unsung supporting LINGs really are the foundation of our CP figuring out how to grow and trust each other.

I am so impressed with Wang XingYue as a young mail lead. I can hardly believe that he was only 18 /-19yrs when he filmed this. He really did carry a huge charater and did so well. Our female lead Bu Guan Jin really played to the strengths of a young lady exploring life with her own secrets to solve.

And yes, i think it is rewatchable if only just to see our CPs grow together. :)

If you consider holding hands In public is not taboo. Cute drama!

After watching this drama, I read some comments and realized how differently people perceive it. For me, it deserves a solid 9 rating.

I recall from my previous review that physical touch is considered a taboo in China, Korea, and Japan. Therefore, a story that revolves around constant touching, even if it's just holding hands in public, would undoubtedly offend some viewers.

However, I had a different reaction. I found the concept to be original and charming. Some people argued that they felt uneasy because the male lead was imposing himself on the female lead. But, from my perspective, I didn't see much of that. Although he discovered that touching her brought him sensations he had never experienced before, including romantic feelings, he was very insistent on her staying with him. But, honestly, I didn't see any forced seduction. It began with a mutual agreement and quickly developed into mutual love.

The female lead, Bu Guan Jin, left me feeling undecided about her performance. On one hand, she portrayed her character's kind and naive personality exceptionally well, which was impressive. However, on the other hand, I found the chemistry between her and the male lead to be average and not particularly noteworthy.

The director seemed to emphasize her petite figure a lot throughout the drama, which at times felt unnecessary. While the character didn't require a beautiful actress, I personally would have preferred someone more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Maybe there was an issue with her makeup that didn't work in her favor? She managed to avoid any annoying notes that I typically find off-putting like childish which is a big plus in my opinion. Overall, while I did have mixed feelings about the lead actress, her acting was commendable.

Wang Xing Yue, the male actor, has proved to be an excellent choice for various drama series. Although he may not be conventionally handsome, his looks are still quite appealing, and he has a natural charm that makes him a great match with the leading lady. His acting skills are exceptional, and he has delivered some outstanding performances in his career so far. His range of emotions and ability to bring depth to his characters have earned him a reputation as a talented actor in the industry.

The chemistry between the second main couple was lacking. The woman looked considerably older than the man, making their relationship seem unconvincing. However, the other characters were well portrayed, with a special mention to Nie Xi Hao, who played the role of the "evil brother". In my opinion, he has both the looks and talent to take on more significant main roles in future dramas.

In my opinion, this drama is definitely worth watching. However, I must mention that there are a few scenes that feature physical contact between the couple. If you are someone who is uncomfortable with public displays of affection, then this drama might not be suitable for you. But if you don't mind watching romantic moments such as holding hands and hugs, then this drama with a sweet and happy ending will definitely be enjoyable for you.

Unexpectedly good

The script is witty and expressions are just right and animated. Great dry humour. Fun n lively to watch. All actors esp ML/FL might not b big names but actings ichiban !! They are actually quite natural n in tuned with each own characters. Kudos to de director too coz his close-up are just right and did not rush any screentime; patiently capturing their expressions. I'm not one to b inclined to leave reviews but totally cannot ignore such a good production! I will probably gonna b finishing this!

Straight laced ML + Mischievous FL = unusual arrangement

Nothing new here. Classic RomCom on a traditional setting. ML was a straight laced no non sense prince with a special condition. FL is a mischievous street savvy girl. They were fated. They complete each other.

They met, had an unusual arrangement, fell in love and then they found out that he was involved with her family's death. Sounds familiar? With a little political/palace power struggle on the side and some twist and turns along the way..

Cast did a good job. Not much back story but it was ok, plenty of mini entertaining story from supporting characters.

Abuse in Dramas

Girl/women abuse goes on and on in dramas. The latest drama "Your Sensibility My Destiny" takes the first place in terms of girl/women abuse. Abuse to the point that the ML dislocates the girl’s arms and wrists making her stay by his side . She seeks someone to fix her lifelessly hanging arms. (Outrageous!) In the MEN'S WORLD OF GIRL/WOMEN ABUSE girls/women do not get neither love or attention from men nor respect, abuse only and… more than that girls/women are not supposed to fight back. They MUST accept that and “fall in love” with the abuser. It’s a must. No wonder in many dramas girls/women are hysterical, agitated, irrational, and explosive; burst into anger out of nothing. Almost in every episode they turn into emotionally disturbed alcoholics chasing boys, shaking them, demanding their attention in hope they would change the men and get at least some love from them. Script writers should be jailed, they are killing the nation supporting girl/women abuse. No wonder a gender switch role is highly promoted in late dramas in which girls chase the boys, girls confess first arranging a sweet, romantic place, ask boys out on a date first, give them gifts, love letters, and kiss them first. This happens only because men live in the world of a girl/woman abuse and incapable of showing their feeling to the girl they love/like. The only thing they are capable of is ABUSING a girL.

- Le format n'est pas trop long (24 épisodes) et la réalisation est vive et efficace. tout est dit, mais il n'y a pas de scènes ou de personnages inutiles;
