The King’s Warden

Both are about the tragedy of the deposed king. The Princess's Man could be considered an introduction to the downfall of King Dan Jong and the rise of his uncle, Prince Su Yang, who is the main villain of the drama.

However, while the political timeline in The Princess's Man is accurate historically, it focuses on a fictional romance between Prince Su Yang's daughter and the son of his political rival.

Both inspired by Grand Prince Suyang’s forceful rise to the throne, first with Prince Anpyeong in 'Canvas of Blood', prior to Danjong and Prince Geummyeong in 'The King’s Warden.'

The story revolves in both cases around a prince (de-throned king/crown prince) leaving the palace. Both are at some point struggling mentally but eventually find the will to fight for their people, growing close to the commoners living with them.

Both films are set in the same era, highlighting Grand Prince Suyang’s rise to power, with 'The Face Reader' currently seen as an unofficial prologue to 'The King’s Warden.'
