A fun watch and this is comedy first, romance later
TL;DR:A hilarious and oddly inspiring fitness com-rom (since this is comedy first, with hint of romance) that leans into absurd comedy before bringing out the romance. Come for the laughs, stay for the glow-up — both physical and emotional.
24-Hour Health Club is a solid comedy-first, romance-later kind of drama. It tells the story of Do Hyun-Joong, a ridiculously successful international bodybuilder who ends up running a dingy basement gym called 24-Hour Hell's Club (a wordplay on “Health Club”), and Lee Mi-Ran, an overweight woman who gets dumped and accidentally stumbles into the gym — and his life.
The series kicks off when Mi-Ran, heartbroken after a breakup, tries to relieve her stress by going to a club — only to end up at 24-Hour Hell's Club instead. Waking up sore and confused, she’s greeted by Hyun-Joong, who has a strange talent: he can read people’s lifestyle and health history just by looking at their bodies. After some persuasion (and comedy), she signs up for a 5 million won training package to lose weight before attending her friend’s wedding — where her ex will be.
From there, the show takes us on a wild and exaggerated ride full of workouts, strict dieting, protein obsession, and Mi-Ran’s chaotic lifestyle slowly being reshaped. But what’s refreshing is how the show, while not leaning into the current wave of body positivity rhetoric, still avoids shaming or mocking. It plays things for laughs, but Mi-Ran’s journey isn’t just about appearances — and that’s where it really lands.
Originally working out purely to look good and show off, Mi-Ran gradually learns to enjoy fitness for herself — especially for the health benefits and how it makes her feel. And interestingly, by the end of the show, she flips the dynamic: the ultra-disciplined Hyun-Joong also learns from her that life doesn’t have to be 100% protein powder and chicken breast. She ropes him into small acts of rebellion — delaying protein intake, sneaking in tteokbokki nights — showing that “cheating” now and then isn’t failure, it’s balance, and they can sweat it out later by working out.
One standout element: the actress gained 9 kg for this role, and fans of K-ent might be surprised to find out she’s a former idol. Her performance is funny, endearing, and grounded, capturing Mi-Ran’s vulnerability and growing confidence.
The acting overall leans into exaggeration, but given the show’s tone, it works. It’s not a serious melodrama; it’s a feel-good, over-the-top comedy with just enough emotional weight to keep you invested.
The music is honestly the weakest point — passable, but forgettable. It doesn’t elevate the scenes much or linger in your memory.
Rewatch value is above average. With only 12 episodes, each filled with laughs and lighthearted moments, it’s a great show to revisit when you need something fun and uplifting.

Good Enough
Korean Drama 'Pump Up the Healthy Love' is a slice-of-life romantic comedy. The drama has an interesting plot and a light mood, with enjoyable comedy and funny characters. The performances were great as well. The fluff of the story continued all the way to the final episodes, which, however, were a let-down. The romance was underdeveloped and was rushed to be added to the story, while the cheesy twists in the end were also rushed and poorly handled. The side stories were also underdeveloped and touched only on the surface.
So, overall, six out of ten.

the basic idea is nice, but there were many moments i was like ugh why
Storyline was nice and fun, so if anyone wants to rewatch, go on. However there were a few problems.1) some situations/lines/reactions were uneccesary. I get that its supposed to be a light hearted drama that focuses more on the story and the two protagonists but it was too much.
2) the music didnt really do much, 4.5/10 just because im not a specialist

It's ok
It's an ok show if you have spare time. I wanted to watch a comedy that's why I chose it. Admittedly I didn't laughed like i wanted to. The script and actors did their best i am sure, but for my taste the humour in it fell flat. The couple barely had chemistry between them. The romance plot was lost in the background behind the secondary characters and we must work out/gym plot. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you are someone obsessed with the gym and want to watch something very light-hearted.Was this review helpful to you?

It's freaky, but I love it! What the fat!
I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard watching a drama. I just wish there was a bit more romance between the male and female lead. This drama also focuses a lot on the other characters — not sure why. Still, it's such an awesome drama with a great storyline and so much laughter. It's just not your usual K-drama — you need to watch it with an open mind and not compare it to other K-dramas. Highly recommend it.Was this review helpful to you?

It is painful to watch- just a little bit
I’m waiting to watch Jun’s new rom-com. He’s a very, very talented actor—especially when he plays villains. He’s amazing at that. But when it comes to romantic comedies… sorry, he just doesn’t seem to pick the right scripts. In this one, his character doesn’t even feel human. People who go to the gym aren’t that extreme. It’s so unrealistic. Extreme, unrealistic comedy. He is so obsessed and repeating the same things.
And I think we all know Eun Ji… she can’t show her potential in this script. I’ve watched almost all of her dramas.

Jun’s body is sometimes very big , sometimes turn normal size. Unrealistic shape. I can’t focus on the story very well to focus his body size. His head is getting smaller. I hope production time get attention this problem.
There are also three women at the gym who get way too much screen time—and honestly, they’re just annoying. Same goes for the sister and her boyfriend. None of them talk about anything meaningful—no real conversations about life or anything deeper. They’re rude, shallow, and honestly painful to watch. It feels like they’re just there to waste time.
What’s wrong her mom? Can we beat her mom just once? Her mother is problem her sister is problem. I’m really sad for her.
But I really love watching Jun and Eun Ji. If the main leads were played by anyone else, I probably would’ve stopped watching already. But I just can’t let them go :( Let’s continue to watch

I can't continue. Really sorry:/

Interesting premise, Boring execution
I dropped the show almost reluctantly at episode 7 but i had no choice, i was bored. While the show had its charm, it ultimately couldn't hold my attention. The handsome male lead and surprisingly realistic gym scenes were definite highlights—it’s rare to see fitness depicted with this much authenticity in a rom-com setting. The show balanced hilarious, over-the-top humour with heartfelt moments in the beginning, and when it clicked, it clicked.
However, that spark wasn’t consistent. The tone started to feel forced, and what initially felt like conscious exaggeration for comedic effect eventually became repetitive and boring. The female lead, despite being written as quirky and passionate, just didn’t land emotionally for me—something about her lacked appeal or depth. It felt like the story was trying to do a lot without fully committing to any of its threads.
Overall, it was a fun concept with a strong start, but to me it was a missed opportunity in execution. With tighter writing and more balanced character dynamics, this could have been a standout.

Hilarious Over the Top Comedy
This show is an absolute gem — it's still airing, but it's already one of the funniest series I've seen in a long time. Packed with clever slapstick humor and over-the-top gags that are clearly meant to be taken lightly, it manages to be both ridiculous and genuinely clever at the same time. The comedic timing is sharp, and the physical humor lands every time. What really sets it apart, though, is the cast of characters. They're not just punchlines or caricatures — each one feels distinct, with real personality and surprising depth beneath the surface. As absurd as the situations get, the character work keeps you invested.
If you're looking for something that can make you laugh out loud while still feeling connected to the people on screen, this one's worth your time. Highly recommend keeping up with it as it airs!

this is first and foremost comedy
i kinda get why it has so low rating, but I believe is that people was looking for your usual kdramas story, and plot.since the beginning this gave me Gaus Electronics vibes, and later i found out it is the same director. the comedy, the humor, is very very similar, where I find it different and interesting is the healing aspect of excercise and self care that every character brings to the story.
I believe is maybe a more mature story and not everyone will be up to that.
both ML and FL did a fantastic job

Enjoy the comedy
The body is always a sensitive topic. Audiences might feel overwhelmed when the central theme is about being too skinny, too fat, or even just average. So, this series probably isn’t for everyone. The way the male character is portrayed may come across as too extreme for some viewers, especially in how he talks about and reacts to body image. It might feel too harsh for people who struggle with body issues. However, this characterization of the gym instructor works for me—I was actually worried they’d go with a sugar-coated personality to address the idea of working out. Instead, I think the male character is being honest and genuinely wants his trainee to achieve their goals.I like the female lead because, even though she seems like an old character who has never been lucky in love and struggles with body image, she still sets high standards for herself in other areas. For example, in the workplace, she knows she’s good at her job, so she’s confident, capable, and stands her ground against co-workers who might try to take advantage of her.
The best part of this series is the comedy. I'm here for the laughs, and I’ve really enjoyed and been entertained by it. I hope they can keep the humor going until the end of the series. For me, it’s a solid 9 out of 10

3 Reasons to Watch Pump Up the Healthy Love
How many rejections does it take to break confidence?Just one. It takes one NO to break everything that makes you.
This latest GYM love story chronicles the journey of two different individuals seeking their true selves. Do Hyeon Jung is determined to promote health and has even given up his love life for that. And there is Mi Ran, who has given up her body and health after facing immense rejection. Their paths crossed, and a vow was made.
It's been almost half of the year, and the Korean drama industry has delivered another underrated yet striking story. It's been the seventh episode, and love has appeared in a subtle note. MLs and FLs are in lov,e but they are lingering over it. For the first time, a director has treated love like it happens in real life. The rejection, the dilemma, and the pain felt so connected. Mi Ran is like the inner child who does not whisper breath and tries to survive in a sarcastic society.
The sister bonding is realistic and plays a good charm in bringing happy twists. Ji Ran is the sweetest yet convincing sister ever. Lee Da Eun adds blood and flesh to such a character who needs to be supportive, yet not lose herself in the process.
The story, as the title suggest,s reflects the need to build yourself first before falling in love. In today’s society where competition and comparison thrives, building of such story is of utmost importance.

1.5 kg x 100 of Humor and Comedy
Yes it's over the top. Yes everything is exaggerated. But so far it works. I just keep laughing and laughing out loud. It was only a few weeks ago I finished watching Lee Jun Young as a diabolical bully and criminal in Weak Hero Class 2. Now he is this intense, but hilarious gym rat/fitness trainer/competitive body builder who can't stop posing with his big shoulders. I've watched the first 3 episodes and I'm loving it. It really doesn't have much of a continuing storyline other than a cast of characters who workout in this neighborhood gym, and the attraction building between the ML and FL. It's the comedy that is carrying it and I have to say it's working. Working on a series like this had to be such fun for the actors. How in the heck did they actually get any decent takes? I would have just laughed my way through. I guess that's why they are the professionals. Was this review helpful to you?
