Ryan Cheng is exceptional as Yu Chang Xuan, embodying the commanding presence of a Republican-era warlord with striking elegance, impeccable bearing, and eyes that betray a lifetime of grief and longing. Xu Ruo Han is equally compelling as Ye Ping Jun, a woman of conviction who stands her ground in the face of injustice yet possesses the humility to acknowledge her mistakes. The first episode and totally hooked

So, unlike the other posts I have seen about the drama, I was not instantly captivated. It took me around three hours to finish the first episode because I kept finding the way condensation on my water bottle ran down more interesting than what was happening on the show. I am not even joking. Although, it got interesting in the last ten minutes of th episode, the moment that unknown waitress maid came in. Chaos and mayhem, I want it all. Honestly, I am just going to keep watching because I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE PEN.I do have to say the visuals are stunning. If I was a romance-loving gal, that first meeting would have done me in. However, I am not. I am a bad romance type of gal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrO4YZeyl0I). And Cheng Lei is always sexy. I just hope he doesn't become a simpering love fool like in that other drama that I still don't know how I finished.
