Captivating storyline and the phenomenal cast. The staging and costuming deserve immense praise; it is clear that meticulous effort went into even the smallest details. Furthermore, the opportunity to immerse oneself in China during this captivating historical period is genuinely fascinating

Saucy republican era romp

The spice is surprisingly solid for a Republican-era Chinese drama. Given the historical setting and the restrictions that typically come with Chinese television, I wasn't expecting the romantic tension to hit quite like this. The atmosphere, the intensity, and the way certain scenes are framed definitely add to the appeal. But that ending to episode 11? Oh, I already know the Wattpad girlies are about to be WORKING OVERTIME. 😭 The theories, the edits, the fanfiction, the absolutely unhinged interpretations of every little interaction we are about to enter dangerous territory. Because if the drama is willing to go where I think it's going, the next few episodes could get very interesting. And perhaps a little concerning for everyone involved.
