oh, thanks for liking and adding the link!  ❤️

I'm only at  ep.24 (watching slowly), and hunting up the song at 15:00 😂 probably one of the other two listed on Baidu, that I had not yet got around to document. These Reform era dramas that have been showering on screens in February-March are a treasure trove of old hit songs with many still enduring or become household tunes (such as the "Gathering" one, for me).    I am sharing my interest in re-examining these tunes, further to the new OST. 🤭

There is one song that I half expected but did not hear in the drama during the Golden sands land acquisition (ep23) when  Xia Xiaolan summoned her "martial arts" sister to help against the villagers stirring up trouble.

Land property was a touchy subject for villagers, explained in the drama : people may "own" the land which they build or farm on, but in fact the ground belongs to the State, which may grant land use rights there for 70 years for residential property, 50 years for industrial or office use, and 40 years for commercial purpose. The  plot may be mortgaged or sold within the validity of the duration granted, and the  "owners" need to renew if they want to pass property on to  heirs).  So, the song  I expected was  Sally Yeh's "Xiāo sǎ zǒu yī huí"  《瀟灑走一回》  which was the enduring "martial arts" hit that was played everywhere during my family's 3 weeks first long tour (tourism and more) through China in 1991.  This was a timeless classic that won awards and which nobody could ignore was one of those that shaped mandopop in the 1990s.

Although it is listed as a 1986 song on some sites, the Sally Yeh /Yè Qiànwén 葉蒨文  album of that name with the song was indeed released in 1991 as it took off as theme song for a drama then.  It has been used in other dramas until more recent  2021 "Dear Diary /My Babylonian Lover".   This is also a song that has been covered by many singers, including  Xiào  Zhàn  肖战 (at a Nov2023 Greater Bay area show) and Liú Yǔníng  劉宇寧 (in the Jan 2025 China Internet Festival / iQIYI LifeShow!)

Thanks for the edits! ❤️💚🩵💛🧡

Lots of effort and beautiful details. Too bad the Sally Yeh song  was not in the drama.

Have you finished adding all the song details yet? I am very impressed by how these songs also reflected careful attention to details by the production team for this drama, and I'm definitely reccing your song compilation forum thread in my not-yet-finished review for the drama!

Thank you again for liking    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yes, I think the song details I found are all in, now.  I forgot to take note exactly when a couple of songs were heard, so this will be the pieces to add in by those who start watching later or re-watch again 😁. This was such a good drama to savor!  Sometimes it felt like a puzzle about the concept of time and reality.  So, leaving some unsolved parts of the puzzle like where to fit in the songs I did not state the place in which they are heard is also a challenge for next commentators here 😂.

I have already posted my glowing 10 review.  I just added a spoiler interpretation of the final quarter of an hour in the drama, to reflect on the scientific quantum views of threads of time and of the value of imagination and music in the drama.

Thank you so much, especially for adding the extra music that's not in the OST. Much, much appreciated.
