Best recent romcom drama for me!!
I finished watching the entire series in just one sitting, which already says a lot about how engaging it was. This is actually my first time writing a full review for any of Jisoo’s dramas. When this project was first announced, I was already very excited for it to come out, and after watching it, I can confidently say that it exceeded my expectations. This series screams rom-com to its core. It fully embraces the genre and gives exactly what a romantic comedy should offer—heart, humor, and emotional moments—while still delivering something deeper. Throughout the series, you find yourself rooting for Mirae to finally open her heart again and allow herself to love and be happy.
The first few episodes were mainly dedicated to introducing the virtual boyfriends in the VR system. One thing I really loved was how Mirae had great chemistry with all of them. The concept of the virtual reality boyfriends was not only entertaining but also meaningful to Mirae’s character development.
Eunho, in particular, became my second favorite virtual boyfriend. He was essentially a replica of Mirae’s ex, but without the flaws that once hurt her. Through Eunho, Mirae was able to reflect on her past relationship and finally gain a sense of closure. He reminded her that what she had with her ex was once beautiful and genuine. Their relationship may have ended because of changes they could not accept, but that does not erase the fact that what they had was real and meaningful.
Mirae’s character perfectly represents someone who has developed a fear of change. She sees change as something negative and constantly worries that the happiness she has in the present will eventually disappear. Eunho helped her remember that even when things change, the past can still remain as a beautiful memory. Although Eunho did not completely solve her fear of change, he helped her finally let go of the emotional weight of her previous relationship. Some viewers might feel that Mirae should have had a final conversation with her ex for closure, but personally, I think the way the story handled it was already perfect. Mirae eventually realized that her struggle was not really with her ex—it was within herself.
Then there is Yeong-il, who plays an important role in helping Mirae realize her true feelings for Gyeongnam. Yeong-il represents the “perfect” virtual boyfriend, and I appreciated how the writers stayed faithful to the rom-com genre by making the virtual boyfriends likable and emotionally engaging. I’m also glad that the series did not turn them into villains, because the story could have easily gone in that direction.
At the same time, the Boyfriend on Demand app and device felt somewhat unsettling. It is scary in a way because it feeds people’s emotions with something artificial, yet it still leaves them wanting more. What I appreciated about the story is that it stayed grounded in reality. The technology was presented as just a tool—something that people should control, not something that should control them.
Mirae and Gyeongnam’s love story was truly beautiful. Their relationship follows the classic enemies-to-lovers trope, but it was executed very well. Both characters were written as imperfect yet relatable, which made their development feel natural and believable.
Gyeongnam is easily one of the best male leads I have seen in recent K-dramas, and Mirae is just as compelling as a female lead. This drama gave viewers characters that feel refreshing and sincere. In recent years, many K-dramas have been difficult to stay invested in, but this series managed to deliver a story that felt complete and satisfying.
From the story itself to the pacing, the OST, and the cinematography, everything worked together beautifully. And honestly, this drama proves that you can trust Jisoo when it comes to choosing her scripts.
Overall, Boyfriend on Demand delivered even better than expected. Those who refuse to watch it simply because of the actors involved are truly missing out on a fun, heartfelt story and the artistry that the series offers.

My Own Kdrama On Demand
If you’re going to watch, then be patient! It will reward you.Though perhaps I may be a little biased as I honestly think this kdrama was made for me. However it’s still rare I give shows a 10/10, since that requires good quality production as well as a bit of personal interest.
First off the budget for this show must have been high because there are so many familiar faces one after the other. This aspect made it exciting as I kept expecting to see well known actors in fun and quirky roles as “boyfriends”. (Not to mention the female lead comes from one of the most well-known girl groups, Jisoo from blackpink)
When I first started watching I was a little upset that the male lead had so little screen time with the female lead except to set up their somewhat enemies to lovers esque romance, but as I kept watching I continuously got hooked on the plot and was rewarded with a sweet romance that, though blossomed late in the show, made up for it in chemistry.
I think the confession was my favorite I’ve ever heard. It offered truths about reality and love and dating while still giving you the kdrama mushy goodness. My heart was beating so fast it was almost as if I was the one getting confessed too.
A great, great script from a writing perspective as well. Nothing was too on the nose, they did a lot of showing rather than telling, and this was all enhanced by the acting. I appreciated how each of the characters yearned for the other, whether they were aware of their feelings or not. There were moments of hurt yet moments that made your heart flutter. There was fear yet reassurance. And just like real life romance in a way, they fell slowly for the other until they both were too far in to turn back. The script didn’t try too hard to be philosophical but the premise of the show ended up giving it that poetic feeling. We often turn to dating simulators and fantasy worlds (like kdramas haha) to escape the realities of love that we fear. The show mirrored this and offered comfort to the characters and to the audience by helping the female lead overcome her hesitation and starting again, without fearing how it might end. It was cathartic. I will always root for a show that leaves me feeling better after watching it — that reminds me of the joy and beauty of our world and love. Rather than an escape, though it may have started that way, the show became a learning experience. I, too, want to go forward living in the moment, not being afraid that something will change, but cherishing the love that’s in front of me.
The show was also beautiful visually. Lively sunsets paired with magical snow that pulls you in to both the fantasy world of the show and also the fantasy world of the “Boyfriend on Demand” simulator. The OST wasn’t notably life-changing but it complimented the story well and I added the songs to my playlist as they grew on me.
Honestly 10/10 for the fact that this is the first kdrama in a while that has given me such butterflies. (Or maybe that was just Seo InGuk 😉)
Seriously, what a great concept, not too overboard, and just right. If there was a simulator that could take my perfect match for kdramas and create a show, I think it would come out a little something like this one.
Will definitely be rewatching.

Needed a better Female Lead
First and foremost—someone either needs to get Jisoo into some serious acting lessons, or directors need to stop handing her roles like they’re party favors. The facial expressions? Missing. The emotional depth? On vacation. Sorry… not sorry. The storyline actually had potential with its futuristic dating concept, but it never quite committed. The cameos were nice little pieces of eye candy, but added about as much substance as a decorative pillow—cute, but not useful. The early episodes spent way too long on short, forgettable dating escapades, leaving the main leads with zero room to develop anything resembling chemistry. Watching them fall in love felt less like romance and more like two AI bots buffering.
And the male lead? Equally robotic. Honestly, I’ve seen more emotional range in a loading screen. The side characters tried, but even they couldn’t rescue this sinking ship. The music was… fine.
I powered through all 10 episodes purely out of curiosity and mild stubbornness.
It’s a shame, really. With stronger leads and tighter pacing, this could’ve been a fresh, fun drama. Instead, it just felt like wasted potential wrapped in pretty visuals.

THIS JUST HEALED SOMETHING IN ME :’)
• did it really portray properly what it had intended to ??? YES.— the acting, everyone’s acting is great HONESTLY. the only complaints i see is about jisoo’s acting and if you actually see the drama without the intention of hating jisoo or becoming a critic you’ll see everyone is just hating and they’re either being paid by a “certain” organization OR are just bitter and jealous because jisoo CARRIED this whole drama on her back — she acted cringe in the virtual simulation because it was intentional (go nag the director hos) and the story needed that. she was natural, expressive and PERFECT for the genre but also of course still new to the genre she’ll get WAYYY better her future is clear in kdramaland.
— the OSTs were so good and viral hungry. every song fitted the series and the whole story and plot entirely. I’ll listen to most of them regularly.
— the plot was so interesting it was fresh, ambitious collected and everything was working so good together. i was living for the different povs of the main leads. there was no unnecessary drama, love triangles, “distended to be together since they were kids” plot, dumb/extra characters every character served a purpose with the utmost depth. i loved the emotional build up between the mains. it could be slow paced at times but it was what the storyline needed. it delivers its message perfectly. “past relationships could scar and scare us for the longest, but it’s okay to start again whenever it feels right with the right person without worrying about whatever the future might hold”
— the cameos, i liked it so much. it was so amusing and refreshing to see all those bit parts with some being very critical to the storyline and fl’s development. I NEED JISOO AND SEO KANG JOON IN A DRAMA RIGHT NOWWWWW !! their chemistry was everything
— the mains relationship were so well portrayed and well thought out. it felt so natural everything about it. the slow burn, pacing of it, confession, hesitation, suspension, misunderstandings and the actual dating arc etc. PERFECTION
it definitely COULD have been PERFECT but it’s still beyond decent and it’s probably one of the best 2026 kdramas AND couple. i loved the drama. Give it a try and don’t listen to no hater.
also kyungnam is such a man. a whole walking green flag i miss them already .. jisoo needs to pick up those casting calls mama.

If you Think About It
You can actually watch this show with one of two mindsets ,the first it's just another Rom-com the alternative is the writers and producers are trying to say something about the way our world is changing .As a straight forward Rom-com I quite enjoyed the series nothing outstanding but worth your time but after a couple of episodes something did not quire sit right in my mind and that was why has a woman who is emotionally struggling in real life started to use a virtual reality AI based dating service .
And This is my problem if the writers intentionally created this scenario well done them if not this is actually a pretty poorly thought out show .
The basic question is why would anybody with real emotional problems want to date a none existent person with a computer generated personality and image that's completely incapable of show any real emotions it is t simply a computer program made to keep people happy
The FL with her emotional issues needs counseling not a fantasy world where she just hides away from reality and "Kissing" dates ? come on they are in the VR headset there is nothing to kiss and at the end the VR date and NPC's simply freeze and she is all alone yet again how this helping her ??
Enough said if this show actually set out to raise questions about VR & AI then they did a decent job if not just enjoy it for what it is a not bad show as for the lead couple and their story the actors did well but in all honesty I think the FL was lucky the ML was such a well balanced man many would have walked away as her mindset and dependance right until the end about her VR "world" was pretty weird and a bit pathetic .
Again give it a go and enjoy the show

Exactly the Rom-Com I Needed
Exactly the kind of rom-com I’ve been wanting to watch lately. It has that light, feel-good energy that makes it really easy to enjoy from start to finish. The premise feels a little different but still comfortingly familiar in the best way. Both Jisoo and Seo In Guk played their characters wonderfully. Their acting felt very natural and effortless, and at times it almost felt like their characters reflected a bit of their real-life personalities too, which made everything even more charming and believable.
Jisoo was especially so fun to watch. She brought a lot of warmth, humor, and personality to the role, and it made so many scenes feel lively and cute. Seo In Guk balanced that really well with his own charm, and their chemistry together made the story flow so nicely. [I don't get all comments about them having no chemistry...]
The pacing was also perfect. I always appreciate a drama that leaves me wanting more instead of making me think “why is this so long?” Every episode felt purposeful and the story never dragged, which made the whole series feel just the right length.
And I loved all the cameos too! They were such fun little surprises throughout the show. There were so many heart-fluttering moments that made me smile while watching. It's just a really sweet and enjoyable drama. A rom-com with no love-triangle, amnesia, misunderstandings that last forever.

nice concept
i liked the concept, it was cute, well done story about someone afraid of starting something, afraid of how it would end.Nothing new or revolutionary but the dates with the ia were fun.
The main romance was cute. in the beginning they had 0 chemistry, but it developed well. when they have a little fallout i felt they could have debated a bit more about it. They really have miscommunication going for them.
I also loved seeing different women experience the ia, how their approach was different.

Enjoyable and easy to watch.
A very solid series! It had an incredible cast with all the well-known actors. I really loved the concept of virtual reality. Seo In Guk and Seo Kang Joon were absolutely amazing. The female lead was a bit annoying at times for me and had a tendency to overthink and jump to conclusions. As a series it didn’t have much intensity, which is something I usually look for in shows but for this genre is ok. The chemistry of the main couple was good, not explosive, but still nice. Also, props for not making them know each other since childhood like they always do in Kdramas . Overall, it was enjoyable and easy to watch. Was this review helpful to you?

I love it but, it could’ve been better
Boyfriend On DemandWhen I heard about this drama, i wasn’t interested and I decided to watch to see where it would lead me. I confess that I wanted to hate it sooo bad but the truth is: I LOVE IT.
I live for the fact that it’s a different story and concept and that’s soo refreshing. Love the cast. LOVE her storyline with Eun Ho (Seo Kang Joon).
The problem for me is the fact that the idea is sooo amazing that not exploring the other stories made angry (crying emoji), it had so much potential and it was completely wasted. It would’ve been better if it had at least 22 episodes, where they would explore all of the other storylines (1-2 episodes each) while she is simultaneously falling for the real life male lead and halfway through she would choose to stop it because she’s already in love and the “app” is distracting her from real life.
I was so invested with the airplane/secret agent story, the one with Lee Jae Wook and the Singles inferno one as well.
PS: Lee Soo Hyuk looks ethereal here( in real life as well), I loved it.
Overall I give it 8,5/10 because it’s a good effort.

A Pleasant Surprise
A Pleasant Surprise I Finished in Two DaysWhat I liked:
Light and easy to watch
Funny but still emotional at times
Great performances from the cast
I’ll admit that I started this drama without knowing anything about it. I only knew who the main actors were, but I had no idea what the story would be about.
I ended up finishing the whole drama in just two days. I went in with zero expectations, but it turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. The cast did a great job, and the drama had plenty of moments that made me laugh, as well as a few that even brought a tear to my eye.
It’s a light and enjoyable watch, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a drama that doesn’t feel too heavy or emotionally draining.
Once again, I was reminded how much I like Seo In Guk. He’s such a great actor.
Ji Soo also pleasantly surprised me.
Final rating: 8.5/10
