A Tale of Two Worlds — One Worked, One Didn't
VR World:Out of all the cameos, Seo Kangjun's arc (ep 3-5) was the only one that actually worked for me — and personally, the only episodes I genuinely enjoyed in the entire 10 episode run. It had a storyline, buildup, and a convincing ending — his episodes made you feel the magic of the VR world and then its brutal reality, showing exactly why this world is both addictive and dangerous.
The rest of the cameos barely left an impression. They appeared and disappeared without adding much to the story. All of them were handsome in their own way — Lee Suhyuk deserves a special mention — but Seo Kangjun had that screen presence that naturally pulls all the focus. His episodes were the most visually stunning, with the dates and OST perfectly matching the mood. Honestly, once his arc ended, the rest felt dull in comparison.
Real World:
The real world storyline was forgettable and didn't add much to the overall narrative. The main couple didn't work for me either — no chemistry, no buildup, no tension, and the confession came completely out of nowhere. Nothing about their dynamic felt earned.

Suddenly having an AI boyfriend doesn't seem so crazy
This is my first drama of jisoo's. I didn't watch snowdrop nor that other one she did. So I came in with no expectations nor bias. Her acting was good. Honestly some crying scenes were a bit tough on her but she protrayed her character's charm and immaturity quite well.A lot of the characters were funny and relatable. If a IRL boyfriend on demand vr comes out. I would be first in line. I volunteer as tribute!!!
My main issue with the drama was her character Seo Mi Rae. She was a coward and at times annoyed me with her refusal to face her feelings and evolve. But when she eventually did, the payoff was so good. Seo In guk was amazing as usual. The chemistry was great especially towards the end and i like as they didn't waste time on the conflict that arose with goo yeong il
My second issue was the choi siwon jumpscare. I dont want to see his MAGA thick skinned face in my shows again
All in all an easy drama to digest, has a lot of gorgeous men and fun times

Felt like they dropped the ball on this one
Was super interested in this when it was first announced because the gist of ai-generated boyfriends on the fly sounded kinda fun, and the early episodes lean into that fun part pretty well. The virtual worlds look great and make it too good to be true like it should be, the scenarios were cliche obviously but because it was supposed to be unrealistically fun (sometimes cringy in a fun way), and the production and costume work in those settings are especially well done. The fun concept it built though starts to lose its momentum around the midpoint. The story felt like it kept circling back to the idea that each boyfriend is perfect but not real which is a good concept to build off of but they didn’t really explore how those experiences changed Mi Rae’s view on real relationships very well. The virtual boyfriend part was pretty much Lee Soo Hyuk, mostly Seo Kang Jun, and Seo In Guk's Yeong Il character with other minor appearances that were way to short so she pretty much just experienced two boyfriends in reality when i thought it was going to be something like a boyfriend per episode, that typa thing until the last few episodes. Because of that, they rely a lot on the virtual dates to carry the first half of the story while the real-world story feels underdeveloped and rushed to clean up when they gotta limit the BOD and mostly shift the real world in the 2nd half.
Mi Rae's character was kinda a mixed bag for me. Felt like she was too indecisive which made her frustrating at times and her not really understanding why the perfect boyfriends not only made her happy but sad reflecting on her relationship with Se Jun and how wanting to be perfect leads to imperfection. Her character gets a bit repetitive with the plot revolves around her journeying through her virtual boyfriends but again she didn’t really develop much out of it. I think Jisoo fits the role visually and the styling for her character is great (big credit to the costume team again), but her acting still feels like it’s developing and isn’t ready for a full lead role just yet. She’s not terrible like some others like to say just because she's an idol, but in scenes where her emotions need to show to she sometimes lacked the depth, which makes it hard to take a scene seriously. In my opinion she still has things to improve on which is normal and expected for someone with limited acting roles. I personally think a secondary lead would fit her better while she builds up her repertoire and refines the little things that she has shown she can improve but it’s pretty obvious because of her name that wouldn’t happen even if i think it would really benefit her.
The main romance doesn’t help much either in picking up the flat parts either. The chemistry between Mi Rae and Gyeong Nam feels pretty meh and just like you expect them to get together because they are the leads and not that they actually mesh together well which was a bummer. Could be that they pretty much just gave them just about 2 episodes to be together and not really letting them establish anything until around the second half. Could be also that Gyeon Nam's character remains very robotic even when he gets together with Mi Rae, which adds to romance feeling more forced than natural. One hated the other and one was more of a robot then the actualy AI-generated boyfriends somehow. I get he is not an expert at being social but even then still like they overdid his character being too monotonous.
Overall, it’s not bad, but the concept never feels as fully explored as it could have been and instead relied a bit to much on parts that didn't amount to much. It’s visually appealing and has some fun moments, but it ends up feeling a bit underwhelming by the end. The cameo appearances ended up being a highlight for me and where BOD showed its best colors. Seo Kang Jun really came out swinging in this and he definitely brought the most fun outta this.

A Promising Idea That Falls Short
Boyfriend on Demand starts with an interesting concept but struggles to fully deliver on its potential. The drama presents a unique premise around a service that allows people to experience a “boyfriend on demand,” which initially feels fresh and intriguing. However, as the story progresses, the plot becomes somewhat predictable and lacks strong emotional depth. The main leads share some decent chemistry, but their relationship development feels rushed at times. While the drama includes a few lighthearted and cute moments, it doesn’t maintain a consistent balance between romance and storytelling. Some side characters add small bits of humor, yet they aren’t explored enough to leave a strong impression.
The pacing also feels uneven, with certain episodes dragging while others move too quickly. Visually, the drama is clean and modern, fitting its romantic-comedy tone. Overall, despite its creative idea, *Boyfriend on Demand* ends up being a fairly average watch that may still appeal to viewers looking for a simple and easy romance.
My Rating 6/10

Cute, Short, and Unexpectedly Fun
I decided to watch this drama mainly because of the male lead, since I already like him as an actor. Even though my expectations weren’t particularly high at the beginning, the drama turned out to be a pleasant watch overall. It’s not a groundbreaking series, but it’s definitely enjoyable and I would still recommend it to people looking for something light and easy to watch.Considering the drama only has 10 episodes, I think the writers managed to structure the story fairly well within that limitation. The episodes are about an hour long and they go by quickly. You can tell that certain storylines probably couldn’t be expanded much because of the limited number of episodes, but the pacing still works and the ending didn’t feel rushed to me. The male lead was definitely one of the highlights for me. I really liked his character and he kept the story engaging. As for the female lead, this was actually the first time I saw her acting. I had heard some criticism about her performance before starting the drama, but personally I wasn’t disappointed.
The romance itself felt a bit different from many other dramas. While the male lead already seemed to have some level of attraction toward the female lead and actively pursued her, the female lead was emotionally stuck after her previous serious relationship. She was clearly afraid of entering another relationship and going through the same pain again. Because of that, the story needed a very gentle kind of love to help her slowly overcome that fear, and I think the male lead’s personality fit that type of story very well.
However, my main issue is that this emotional aspect wasn’t explored as deeply as it could have been. Her fear is introduced, but she seems to overcome it quite quickly. The male lead does pursue her and offers reassurance and validation, but I felt like the story could have benefited from a bit more emotional conflict or drama to make that development feel deeper.
That said, the drama seems to intentionally go for a softer and lighter romance, so perhaps that was the tone they were aiming for. Still, I think with a few more episodes the relationship could have been developed in a more meaningful way.
The simulation concept was also interesting. The virtual “boyfriends” added some fun moments, and I have to admit they were all quite attractive, especially the personalized boyfriend who basically looks exactly like the male lead. That part was actually pretty amusing.
Production-wise, I don’t have many complaints. The cinematography and overall production were good. At the beginning, the 3D simulation effects looked a little strange, but considering the story revolves around a virtual dating simulation, it actually makes sense that it doesn’t look perfectly realistic.
As for the side characters, they didn’t receive much development. The female lead’s friend was a bit frustrating at times since she seemed to only think about dating. I also wish we had seen more awkward or funny moments between the main couple, and the storyline involving the female lead’s ex felt like it was simply left behind without much exploration.
Overall, this is a soft, light romance with an interesting concept and good chemistry between the leads. It may not have the deepest emotional development, but it’s still a pleasant watch for viewers who enjoy short, relaxed romance dramas without too much heavy conflict.

My Honest Review
I just finished watching this and honestly, I enjoyed it—but I also have mixed thoughts.First of all, I don’t think the concept itself is particularly new. The whole idea of dating simulations, virtual reality romance, or falling for someone who isn’t technically human has already been used many times in dramas. Whether it’s AI, robots, or characters inside a game, this kind of premise isn’t exactly groundbreaking anymore. Because of that, the drama didn’t feel very unique to me at first.
What did feel a bit different, though, was the female lead’s personality. She’s more goofy and awkward rather than the typical romantic lead who’s obsessed with love. At the beginning she isn’t interested in romance at all, and while that could easily come off as a “not like other girls” trope, the drama eventually explains her backstory, which made her behavior make more sense.
Another interesting idea was how the virtual world worked. Instead of making it a strict dating game, the drama presents the characters as optional relationships you can explore. However, the show never really explains the system fully. For example, can players reach an actual “happy ending” with those characters and does the route/game en after? or can can the players keep dating the characters for as long as they want? I felt like the drama introduced a concept that had a lot of potential but didn’t explore it deeply enough.
As for the acting, I actually think Jisoo did a decent job. I’ve seen a lot of criticism saying her acting was cringe or bad, but personally I didn’t feel that way. Based on the personality of her character, her reactions felt appropriate to me. She wasn’t overacting, and she wasn’t completely flat either. Since I haven’t watched her previous drama, I can’t compare her improvement, but in this role I thought she was perfectly fine.
Seo In-guk, on the other hand, was great as expected. I’ve only seen him in Doom at Your Service before, but he’s always very charismatic on screen and did well here too.
My biggest issue with the drama was the romance development between the main characters. From the very beginning, the male lead clearly seemed to have feelings for her. The way he acted around her made it obvious that he liked her, so their ending wasn’t surprising at all. But the problem was that we barely saw any real development from her side. For most of the drama she doesn’t seem interested in him at all, and then suddenly near the end—when there are only a couple of episodes left—her feelings change.
One thing I did enjoy about their dynamic was the rivalry between them. They constantly tried to outdo each other, which added a fun competitive element to their relationship. I wouldn’t really call it enemies-to-lovers since he clearly liked her the whole time. If anything, he felt more like a classic “pining male lead,” always hovering around her and trying to get closer to her.
Overall, this drama felt very light and easy to watch. It’s not emotionally heavy, it’s not something that will leave a deep impact, and the characters aren’t extremely complex—but I don’t think it was trying to be that kind of show either. It’s more of a fun, casual binge if you want something entertaining without thinking too much.
I actually finished it in one day. There were definitely a few cringe moments and some scenes I skipped, but overall it was still enjoyable. I wouldn’t call it an amazing drama, but it’s also not nearly as bad as some people are saying.
If you’re looking for something deep, emotional, or thought-provoking, this probably isn’t the drama for you. But if you want something light, funny, and easy to binge when you’re bored, then Boyfriend on Demand is definitely worth giving a shot.

The cameos are crazy!
The cameos in this drama are crazy 😭 So many good looking people. I kind of wish we got more air time for some of them. The concept was interesting. But there are a lot of contradicting details in the story. Mainly when it comes to Jisoo's character.
It took me a while to appreciate Jisoo's acting in this drama. It felt lacking or sometimes maybe a bit too much but I guess after a few episodes, I got used to it. As for Seo In Guk, I haven't really watched any of his dramas so I don't know if his acting or his character was the problem. He just felt so flat.
I personally wish Jisoo could've ended up with someone like Eun Ho. I enjoyed that storyline the most. They had the best connection out of all of the guys she dated.

It delivers what’s promised
It’s a fun, light, and interesting journey! The premise is very well executed, with great special effects, strong side characters, and excellent development of the FL.
About Jisoo:
I’m not used to actress Jisoo, but after two episodes I completely forgot she was Jisoo and was able to see only the character. Some scenes were a little cringe, like when she gets bothered and shakes her head like “why?”, but I’ve seen other actors do this too. I guess it’s something Koreans do to vent frustration. Other than that, I really liked her acting.
ML:
I LOVED the way he fell in love. It wasn’t obvious; it was about the little things. After he realized his feelings, he was a real man. Even when things got complicated, he was able to understand his heart.
FL:
She is a little egocentric, and sometimes I didn’t like the way she treated her friend. But she had the biggest growth in the whole drama, and it was really nice to see. I also felt sympathetic toward her after finding out what happened in the past. Her character felt very real. I think anyone who has been in relationships can relate to her.
The plot:
The AI dating isn’t really the focus. It’s actually about letting go of the past and opening up to new experiences, but it adds entertainment value.
The scene when the FL goes on a blind date in real life was SO REAL. It showed the truth about modern dating in such a raw way. I was not expecting that.
The side characters are fun to watch, and I got very invested in the best friend’s storyline.
I didn’t catch myself fast-forwarding at all, and 10 episodes was the perfect length.
Definitely the best rom-com this year so far!

Fresh Concept - Decent
Personally, I would say that its a fresh concept. Packs in a lot of elements of comedy and gives you good vibes. Also something new is that except for few characters, most of the side characters felt really fresh. Maybe its a personal bias but the male leads and all the co-male leads that appeared in the drama are the top of the cream in korean drama world. This drama most probably is one of the dream for all the female lead to be in to work with the best out there.
The drama packs in a lot of reality checks for people regarding our current world and incorporates the concept of modernisation. If you look at it objectively then this might be where the world is heading or in some cases are already there. Love the concept of how virtual world impacts our life solely based on comments and reviews. The use of VFX scenes are amazing and it was really made with high quality.
My only concern was the acting delivered by the female lead. I would not want to offend her but if her team is reading and for her future projects, I would recommend improving the basic facial expressions because at some moments it felt really forced than natural acting. Maybe its my personal bias but the character being portrayed as a middle income office worker did not sit straight with how people like me view her. I am not a professional who has the right to comment on her hard work myself but I am a fan of her for her musical career and would like to cherish her new step as well.
All in all, the binge watching concept over the weekend is good fun but and is worth it. I would not say its the best out there but it is fun concept with a lot of comedy, romance and a refresher to kdrama society.

I'm disappointed
Boyfriend on Demand sounded like a fun idea at first, but honestly the show is kinda disappointing. The whole “boyfriend on demand” concept could have been funny or interesting, but the drama barely does anything with it. A lot of scenes just drag and feel like filler. One of the biggest problems is Jisoo’s acting. She’s obviously super popular as an idol and "singer", but here the acting feels really stiff. In a lot of scenes it kinda looks like she’s just reading the script instead of actually reacting to what’s happening. Her facial expressions barely change, even in moments that are supposed to be emotional.
Because of that, the dramatic scenes just don’t work. Something serious happens and you’re supposed to feel something, but it just falls flat. It honestly feels like she got the role more because she’s famous than because she really fit the character.
The chemistry between the characters is also pretty weak. And for a romance drama that’s a big problem. The conversations feel kinda awkward and the romance isn’t convincing at all. Instead of getting invested in the relationship, it just feels like the actors are going through the motions.
The pacing doesn’t help either. Some episodes feel really slow and there are scenes that go on way longer than they should. Sometimes it feels like the story barely moves.
So yeah, in the end Boyfriend on Demand is just a pretty forgettable drama. The idea had potential, but the weak acting (especially from Jisoo), boring writing, and lack of chemistry between the characters make it hard to care. It’s the kind of show you start because you’re curious, and then halfway through you’re like “eh… do I even want to keep watching this?”.

Y'all asked for romcom and they delivered
Not an avid kdrama fans but I do watch drama and series. This isn't Sex and City romcom, it's like of those Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore romcom. I expected it to be silly and fun, but I did not expect the angst of her breakup and those feelings of lost when she fell in love again.Mirae is shown as stubborn and cool, not a lovey dovey woman. However, in the dating app she's like most other women who are clingy and girly when they're dating men. I have to admit I started from ep 5, that's how I do with all kdramas and I don't want to get spoiled of the endings from social media! And then I completed ep 1-4 this morning.
My favorite are those last few ep when Mirae are living the real world dating life, but in general you can rewatch any episodes as you go and you will get some fun out of it without miss. If you want cringy romance, CEO Siwoo deliver. If you prefer fluttering first love, Eunho man he's so fine. Gyeung-il is like the guy our parents forbid us from seeing but we'll get to live our best life of freedom. Kyeungnam, while seen as cold he's actually cares deeply about Mirae. I like the chemistry with all of them, if it wasn't for Kyeungnam fighting for his love, it'd be hard to root for him.
