On the worst day of her life, 20-year-old Hirose Sakura received her greatest treasure that very same day. Fifteen years later, her precious son Toki became a high school student, and the two of them lived simple but happy days together. One day, Toki brings home his girlfriend, Kanae, who looks just like Sakura's beloved Mone and even carries the scent of golden olive, which holds memories for both of them…!? The peaceful days of this parent and child begin to slowly change. From Sakura to Toki, what will become of the love that has been passed down through two generations…!? gl bait to attract viewers

honestly this drama had me feeling confused after i watched the whole episode. its starts very slow until episdoe 4-ish with only the main characters pov, and all of a sudden it turns into a hard slice of life drama, and by the end of the episode the main characters just straight confessed to her long time crush at her sons wedding and then the drama ends abruptly like what the fuck. give me back my time for that 8 episode i spent.

A Love That Travels Through Generations

Firstly, if you are looking for a drama that only focuses on a romantic relationship between women, then this drama is probably not for you. Of course it dives into their relationship about how Sakura had a crush on Mone during their student days, but it focuses more towards the son and him discovering more about his mother.

I personally don’t mind drama’s like these, but just like any other Japanese drama, I think this is just too short. I feel like there’s still a bit more to explore but some things get cut because of the lack of time/episodes. There weren’t any toxic characters, I really enjoyed that. But I wasn’t a big fan of Mone.

There is no lesbian romance, but it was still nice to see a main lesbian character. Sakura went through a lot of emotions watching someone she loved get married (to a man), then later on had a one night stand which got her pregnant. Instead of facing more harsh issues, she was able to raise her son as a single mother and had a decent amount of support. Of course like any other child, Toki was really curious about his father and wanted to know more about his mom (and her childhood). It was refreshing to see her son not react so harshly and to see some variety of sexualites too. I think they did a good job diving into issues some single moms might have, especially if they’re hiding such a big secret like their sexuality. I think the drama was pretty light hearted, yeah there were so sad scenes but no major angst!

I don’t think I would watch this drama again, but I don’t regret watching it either. If they were to randomly announce another season, I would give it a chance.

Is it a happy ending? Not for the first generation (Sakura) lol
