100 Days of Deception Episode 1

Unexpectedly (or not) so so good

Got me hooked for more after just the trailer and ep 1. Still mentally preparing myself for ep 2. Imma wait for 3 all together.
I almost got no note. The massive sets got me flabbergasted. My minor complaint is the color grading, but lowkey I'm just nitpicking because the last show I watched was Lanterns (which isn't quite related, ik, but my eyes felt the difference in cinematic quality).

Very good impressions

I wasn't going to watch this as it airs, but somehow here I am... And, wow, I am so impressed! I hope they can keep the same pace, tension, and pretty much everything at the same level throughout all the episodes.

Intriguing start

Opening scene at the train station did a great job of introducing the characters and drawing you in. Loved the fierce determination of both FLs and the introduction to so many interesting backstories and relationships. The use of Japanese, Korean, Chinese and English was truly impressive from the actors. And the tension in the last dinner scene with the cliffhanger kept me glued to my seat.

so much to look at and wonder about

I am so hungry for landmark moments of cinema to anchor my imagination for the Colonial Occupation. There is some AI fuss, but I do want to see use of archival footage in an interesting way, I think thats ok.PJY &KYJ already are really inhabiting their roles. Emotionally we are still being held at a distance. I am really appreciating the incredible stratification of scene locations, in a shantytown on the outskirts, in a crazy gothic Colonial rebuilding, on the streets. Also the thorough cultural mixing of the 30s.

amazing way to begin the series.
