GELBOYS สถานะกั๊กใจ ‧ Drama ‧ 2025
If you liked Gelboys because the relationships felt real, the chemistry was believable, and the whole show had a fresh, modern vibe, you'll probably enjoy Lost to Light too. It's a different setting, but it has a lot of the same emotional appeal.

The aesthetic and vibe of these two shows are quite similar, because they have the same directors. Both shows have really good representation of teenage relationships and have a great way of portraying how the characters feel. The acting is FAB.

Boys Love dramas in which the male leads get into a kind of situationship in which they are intimate with each other and behave like a couple - but arent actually dating
lots of yearning and intense longing, good and natural chemistry, scenes that will make your heart flutter.
The ost is kind of similar (sound and usage wise i feel), kind of synth heavy beats, sweet beats.

These two shows are similar because they both talk about high school love and first love in a rather light and no-brainer way!

Both are coming of age stories with lgbt elements. The characters are navigating friendships and romantic feelings, dealing with unrequited love and getting caught up in love triangles. Teens being victims of their own messy feelings and being led on by others.

Both are coming of age stories that have, in a way, shaped a generation or are very representative of a specific generation. They speak to people on a deep level and seem to get teenage struggles and issues
They explore youth culture during two different decades, make a lot of use of contemporary electronics and perhaps trends
both have a very clear and distinct aesthetic that makes them stand out from other films and shows. Both have an exceptional and instantly recognizable OST, too that will stay with you
both left a strong impression on me
I have to say, though, all about lily chou chou is incredibly depressing so you should only watch this when youre in an okay or good mood because otherwise it might make you eh question your existence a little too much lol... Gelboys, on the other hand, is more light hearted and romance focused (with an actually happy ending) but it might also hurt you or get you in your feels

Taken inspiration from the format of UK show Skins, both series employs the one character-centric episodic format in order to tell the lives of Thai teenagers as authentically as possible.

Both series are worked on by Boss Kuno. Boss Kuno specifically wrote the episodes for Koi + Dao, Boss, Sun in Hormones Season 3.

From the same screenwriter and Director of Gelboys. This series implements the same beautiful cinematography. Told with a completely different lens, but still hold the same sentiment. A MUST watch if you enjoyed Gelboys.

Shorter romance dramas about two characters entering a kind of situationship/no status relationship but more serious feelings emerge
Gelboys focuses on a gay romance, Koifure on a hetero romance
Recommended by Sleepy Strawberry
both are romance drama stories with lgbtq+ content and a m/m romance at its centre
The main characters become entangled in messy and complicated relationships that hurt each other and the people around them, even when they dont intend it
insecure, lonely characters, INDECISIVE CHARACTERS! who string others along because they dont want to fully commit, because it feels right - ignorant of how it effects those that may love them sincerely
breaking up, coming back together, ending it again, entering unfulfilling relationships with others who are available but being unable to fully separate from their initial interest
pain, jealousy, mistrust, suffering, misery, lots of tension, lots of lingering glances, unspoken emotions and feelings
stories span over multiple years

Gelboys follows teens, a little happier and romantic, Cornered Mouse is about adults and is a little more adult in its content either (iyk what i mean)

Both are Y series based on teenagers, romance, struggles, hormones, etc with y2k aesthetics.
