Perfect Crown and The Last Empress are both set in an alternate version of Korea ruled by a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century. Although the story and plot differs, both dramas follow the marriage between a woman, who is a commoner, and a man, who is of royalty.

Both of these shows are about a power couple, with themes of marriage, divorce, conglomerates, relationships with your in-laws, and differences in social status in romantic relationships. The FLs in both are quirky and misunderstood. I feel like the romance, comedy and melodrama balance is similar in both of these.

- Both have IU in it playing a similar role; female lead caught in a powerful world

similarities:
- A royal dealing with the modern world

differences:
- My Royal Nemesis is a modern fantasy that has dialed up the comedy, and shows an enemies to lovers romance between two selfish individuals. For more information, watch the promotional material:

cdrama and different occupations or setting but the same funny and bold dynamic where the rich and smart woman CEO explicitly, confidently, and funnily chases and proposes a contract marriage to the handsome and calm, revered man (in begin again its an admired doctor top in his field, in perfect crown its an admired prince acting as the regent) who actually wants love and rejects the offer at first but gives in to help the female lead who is subjected to prejudice and pressure in their family or status.

The Empress is in her early 30s, but she is still not married. Since the 1st successor to the throne died, the royal family is in search of a new successor. Incidentally, they come to know of a young man who was, in fact, the prince's son of a woman who left the Palace in order to keep her pregnancy a secret. The young man's name was Lee Hoo, more commonly known to his friends as Kang Hoo.

Lee Hoo worked as a delivery boy at a Chinese restaurant and was known for his 7-minute maximum delivery time. Lee Hoo had been brought up as more of a punk than a prince so his habits and his way of conversing were very different from the people of royal blood. Although he had never dreamt of living in the Palace, he one day finds himself immersing himself in its grandeur and improving himself to prove that he indeed deserves to be called the Successor to the throne.

He soon finds out that not only will he be facing lessons on the path of royalty, and dilemmas of love and of stature, but he will also learn to compete for the position he had been, first and foremostly, called for.

An ordinary college student, Lee Seol, finds out she's a princess. The grandson of Daehan Group, Park Hae Young, is put in charge of educating Seol on proper etiquette.

However, Hae Young is put in a precarious situation when he finds himself drawn to Seol, the girl who will take away his inheritance if the monarchy is restored.

Both series have the same energy, rich people fighting for hierarchy, but this one has no royalty. Both the male and female leads are from rich families. Same concept of marriage before love, the male lead is used by his family and suppressed, the female lead is illegitimate and prefers to be independent and away from her family’s politics but she is an introvert unlike IU’s character but quite a bold lady.

Both about what if Korea had a modern day monarchy. In both the second prince of the monarchy couples up with a commoner.

Set in an alternate version of Korea ruled by a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century. The story follows Chaebol heiress Seong Hui Ju, who is frustrated by her 'commoner' status despite having everything, and melancholic Grand Prince Yi An, whose royal blood is his only identity and who has nothing despite being the son of the king.

Seong Hui Ju, the second daughter of Korea’s wealthiest conglomerate, is blessed with striking beauty, brains, and a fierce competitive streak, yet she is limited by her status as a 'commoner'. She then chooses to enter a contract marriage with Grand Prince Yi An to gain the one thing she lacks — royal status. Meeting Yi An, a man who shares a similar predicament to hers but has made different life choices, marks a turning point in her life.

Grand Prince is a title granted to another son of the king born to the queen consort in the Joseon Dynasty, signifying his royal lineage while placing him outside the direct line of succession to the throne. Prince Yi An, despite his royal blood, is unable to truly own anything and leads a life of sorrow. As the second son of the royal family, he has been forced to suppress his passionate desires and live in silence, but he is still regarded as the "most beloved royal" by the people due to his innate dignity and charm. Accustomed to hiding his true self, his life begins to change as he meets Seong Hui Ju, who resembles him in some ways but has made different choices, through their contract marriage.
