A perfect crown without an equally perfect ending.
✨👑 It had been such a long time since I finished a Korean drama. I slowly moved more into Chinese dramas because those were the ones that kept my attention, while I usually ended up dropping Korean dramas after only a few episodes. This drama changed that 💫 It actually made me want to keep watching and finish it, which already says a lot.
One of the biggest reasons was the royal setting.
👑 Even though it’s modern, the idea of a Korea where the monarchy still exists immediately caught my attention, especially because I love historical and royal dramas.
The acting was great 💕 Both leads did an amazing job, especially during emotional scenes. The costumes, filming locations, cinematography, and soundtrack were all beautiful 🎶✨ The story also never felt boring.
My main issue comes near the end. I think some parts needed more development, especially the king’s death and the closure for certain characters.
My biggest disappointment, though, was the decision to end the monarchy 👑💔 I know many people defend it by saying he never wanted to be king or wanted to protect his family, but for me that argument didn’t work. Monarchy is not only about privilege; it also comes with duty, sacrifice, pressure, and responsibility. Those burdens are part of it too.
As someone who loves royal and historical dramas, that decision disconnected me from the story because it removed an important part of what I enjoy about these kinds of narratives.
Still, I really enjoyed the drama overall 💖 The romance, atmosphere, and even the chemistry worked really well for me. And honestly, finishing a Korean drama after such a long time already feels like an achievement 🥹🌷
