A random beautiful fate of mistaken arranged marriages!!!

What I liked about this drama was the simplicity of the story. The flow of how it was shown was never unfussy and clearly brought me to what I was expecting it to be. Much to my enjoyment, it was very light and contained minimal dramatic scenes. The characters of the five couples were sensibly built as to the role they were playing, noting as well the pleasant screen chemistry of all. It was amusing to watch these five couples supporting each other to protect their relationship, family, and friends.

I commend the creator for her candid style of writing. First, in those scenes where the main lead couple (Tian Xi Wei & Ao Rui Peng) always beat the wicked schemes of the adopted grandson in the Qi’s residence, unlike in other shows, the protagonist was inclined to be fooled by the villain and it was so frustrating to watch. Second, in the revelation parts of the switch identities of the brides that were not taken against them and swiftly gained acceptance from the involved parties. Third, the process of exposing and capturing the villain’s characters was done in a rightful end. And finally, it was a nice sight choice to include an interesting prank scene in the final episode that came as a surprise. The whole story ended where it began where the mishap of swapping happened and manifested their faith and gratefulness by going back to the temple.

I considered this drama as “less but more” in the aspect of being simple but substantially full in storytelling. It was a comfort watch, adding to the fact that Tian Xi Wei is one of my favorites.

Right Idea, Wrong First Pair

It's a testament to the strength of the core concept that I kind of stuck this one out. I don't watch historicals, but the 'bride swap' intrigued me so I gave it a go. By ep 3, the core problem was clear - the WRONG pair was primary lead. I kept hoping for more of Bingyan and her General, but by ep 10, they were bit players. So I skipped to episode 21, where I cracked up laughing at the amount of exposition. It was a totally random pick for where to start watching "the end" but it woked really well as the Old Grandmother helpfully had a conversation with TianLei and Yuhu that filled me in on the 11 eps I'd skipped. It also confirmed that I missed nothing except endless politicking and trickery from the villain and stupidity from the non-villains.

Overall not an awful watch, but definitely not worth sitting through all 24 episodes, when so many of them are "rinse and repeat" storylines. Had Bingyang and the General been the primary leads, it could have been a real treat.

Feeling good...

A little longer than it should, but i liked it.

STORY – a typical story where people are wrongfully traded, and happiness appears.
It is a simple story, better, two stories entwined and other 2 or 3 stories going along, all about love.
The villains are non-existent or just bad and uninteresting.
ACTING – good acting for the leading actors and main characters. Did not like the lack of violence toward the killers, treating the ruffians nicely while they try to kill them. Lots of poison involved, a plot with one or two interesting twisted and too many coincidences for my personal taste.

MUSIC – I am not a fan of this kind of music, so it was not important for me.

REWATCH – some scenes I could gladly rewatch. The whole drama I do not think so, but it is not a bad thought to do it.

OVERALL – I was pleased to watch this drama. It is light (too much in some senses), almost seems to me that this is a show for youngsters viewers also, due to the jolly fighting scenes.

Overall, it was a YES for me.

Light Hearted Rom Com

This drama is not really what I would typically take my time to review, but I had to come here and explain a few things for those in the future unsure if they should watch it. In my personal opinion is not a grand drama, but that’s okay because it never tried to be. It never really took itself seriously so there shouldn’t be any expectations that this drama will be 10. Simply put it’s not. The plot itself is full of wholes and the concepts all throughout reminded me of something I wrote when I was 12 years old. However I wouldn’t completely write it off because of this, like I said this drama is just something lighthearted to enjoy and not think to deeply on what’s going on. There are a lot of couples apart from the main two couples, and a lot of characters which is always a tell tale sign of a story with too much going on. Unfortunately the main couples kind of get overlooked because of this, but like I said it’s just something to watch on the side. Honestly give it a try you might or might not like it. I rated it a bit high because I feel like it’s a bit underrated honestly I would really rate this about a 7.8.

It's a cute drama if you like fluff, but it's annoying if you expected angst/misunderstandings.

So it starts with both Li family and Du family setting up a forced-arrange marriage thingie for their daughters because the in-laws are so ready to "destroy" them, that the only way was selling their daughters (yea, thats how i saw the first 20 minutes of this drama).
Both the carriages left at the same time, and out of nowhere it started raining so they took shelter in some old abandoned temple, here's where the 2 female leads talk to know each, and exchange gifts given by their in-laws as a remembrance of their friendship.
Due to their maids rushing in, they wore the wrong veil which resulted in them going to the wrong home, Li Yuhu accepts this fact, and being fake Du BingYan..whereas real BingYan is drugged by YuHu's maids so that she doesn't go back to her parent's.

Qi TianLei - Fakes being sick so that he can avoid his family business, and to also expose his maternal cousin- Ke ShiZhao doing frauds in Qi business, murdering people, murdering QTL's 2 older brothers.
Yuan BuQu- an old disciple of yuhu's father is a general in army, his previous 2 wives died (1 due to childbirth and other cuz of illness)but somehow it was portraited as if he abused them.
Real DBY wakes up and decides to meet the general (who's at war, camp) to clear the confusion, and being fake male DuBin, and becomes assistant of master Liu RuoQian (he is common in both stories, QTL's master/doctor and YBQ's camp doctor)

Finally both the main male leads gotta know about this wrong carriage thing, YBQ accepts real BY cuz he fell for her, same goes for QTL and LYH. Now comes the part of QTL helping out LYH so that she doesn't expose herself infront of his family.

In the midst of this, they gotta know about Ke ShiZhao's wrongdoings and start tricking him.

On the other side, General YBQ won the war, and IN REWARD he gets to marry the princess, for which he, DBY, master start planning to make the emperor change his order.

Now comes the dumb, overly loved princess changming who dreams of marrying a brave guy. And through series of plotting, she meets general's assistant Sha PingWei (master liu's nephew) and they start liking e/o, she convinces her father to take back the previous mentioned order.

Ke ShiZhao's all wrongdoings have been presented infront of QTL's paternal grandmother, and which her help, they catch him red handed and hand him over to police (?) and LYH tells her real identity, also she is pregnant.

Queen grants an order that princess marry general, which again he and DBY decline and they are sent to prison. now master, his wife, QTL,LYH, SPW, Princess all join hands to pull the 2nd couple out of prison.
Again 1 whole episode of stupidity and its revealed Master Liu's senior was queen's love interest with whom she planned to elope but from her perspective he betrayed her and when in reality he died, and never got the chance to elope with her.
This reveal suddenly opens her eyes and she allows Priincess to marry SPW, and also 2nd lead couple got out of the prison.
Another formal marriage ceremony is planned for both the lead couples with no mis-match, (and its also revealed both the female leads were pregnant).
So at last total 5 couples were there, QTL-LYH, YBQ-DBY, Princess-SPW, YanShang (QTL's sister/step sister)-Ji JingTang (whose parents were framed and killed by KSZ), Master Liu- Shu DaNiang......and you may also include KSZ-XiaoQiao (grandmother's maid and his helping hand)

OVERALL- a good drama, i wish they had more emotions, cuz even though being revelations were made, past murders were discussed but as audience, we couldnt really feel those emotions.
But yea cute drama, with almost 0 misunderstandings, no fights between main leads, everything is cute in the end.

A little too light, but not bad

The good:
- the main leads healthy relationship is nice to watch, they are actually smart resourceful characters and had an ok chemistry
- it's an easy watch, light-hearted and not too long

The not so good:
- The romance is very underdeveloped for all couples. Everything stays very surface level. The one actual kiss they try to put in there for the main couple did not convince me at all. The second main couple does not even kiss.
- The dialogues were at times very stiff and unnatural, making the characters seem rather simple minded.
- The plot was not interesting enough to keep me engaged and I skipped so so many scenes.

Satisfying, fun and romantic!

This is the first historical Chinese drama I've watched, and also the first Chinese drama I've watched that didn't have at least 30 episodes or more. It was a very pleasant surprise nonetheless!

Besides the obvious premise of the story, the plot is split in two different settings to show each bride's situation with the "wrong" groom.
Li Yu Hu's side revolves around the conflicts and mysteries in the Qi family. It feels very similar to a soap opera, with lots of secrets, lots of eavesdropping, lots of tricky situations and malicious family members. Despite this, the atmosphere feels light and fun most of the time, mainly thanks to Qi Tian Lei and Li Yu Hu's couple dynamic.
Du Bing Yan's side is more about her trying her best to finally see her husband and clarify the misunderstanding. Her share of screentime was always more thrilling and dynamic and brought most of the action to the story.
Overall, the plot was nice and well-balanced: it kept a lighthearted and fun tone most of the time and didn't have many dramatic elements. Li Yu Hu and Qi Tian Lei's story started to feel a little too static and redundant after a while, but thankfully it wasn't too bad - mostly because their moments together were absolutely adorable. Du Bing Yan's story was quite interesting, but she and Yuan Bu Qu didn't have nearly as much time on screen as the other main couple, so I can't say I was entirely satisfied with them. Personally, I wish we got to see them more, and could have easily done without one or two of the side couples that were introduced in the story little by little.

It's a fun drama, nothing mind-blowing or exceptional by any means, but it was still an enjoyable watch for me. Recommended if you're looking for something with little angst, lots of fluff, and mostly relaxing!

opposites do attract

I had put this off for so long and finally watched it. Tian Xi Wei and Ao Rui Peng were so cute on screen and I wish they showed more of them. They are right, opposites do attract. They both got their right groom. You know a cute romantic drama is not complete with villains lol. Ke Shi Zhao and his accomplices tried ever so hard to set traps for them and ends up failing ever so often.
Overall, it was a good watch - light, romantic, no shy business, charming, chemistry and a little comedy.

Sweet, light historical romcom with endearing ships

If you're looking for a lighter Cdrama without too much angst but lots of couples, I recommend this one!

It features:
- Sismance between two girls as they head towards unlikely marriages
- Physically strong and direct FL x "sickly" but intelligent ML
- Scholarly, quick-witted second couple FL x loyal, military second couple ML
- Light scheming both within the family and within the palace
- Sweet storyline that doesn't require too much thought

PROS
❀ Couples EVERYWHERE and they are all so cute
In order of screen time, it would probably be: (if my memory serves correct)
1. Li Yu Hu x Qi Tian Lei: main couple that work together to save the family from a scheming cousin. I loveeed the scenes where they practiced martial arts together hehe.
2. Du Bing Yan x Yuan Bu Qu: second couple that (also) work together to defeat the enemies at the border. She dresses up as a male physician to help out while he's the beloved general at the camp.
3. Princess Chang Ping x Sha Ping Wei: they're both the younger side couple that the show devotes some extra time towards. He's the lieutenant/right hand man of Yuan Bu Qu while she's the princess engaged to the general.
4. Liu Ruo Qian x Shu Da Niang: (I THINK that's her name...) basically the older couple that gets reunited after a fight. Teacher Liu is pretty much everyone's master/sensei/godfather/mentor/fortune-teller/shipper/matchmaker in the story LOL
5. Yan Sheng x Ji Jing Tang: another younger side couple between the apothecary's son and ML's family member that helps them out
6. Empress x Liu's senior brother: additional tale of a past romance and the empress getting closure about it
I like how the romances were the main highlight of the drama and it doesn't shy away from them. They develop quite quickly and the couples stay true to each other. By ep 8, the main 2 couples have already confessed and we get some kissing scenes already hehe. I would have to note, the romances are all super wholesome and lean towards the "cutesy" theme rather than anything sensual or deep. It matches the drama's theme since everything stays light, but I wanted to let future viewers know so they have the right expectations going in.

❀ Interesting (enough) side conflicts
Again, there isn't anything too deep with any of the schemes going on but it keeps viewers watching. The first couple has to deal with an instigator in the house (the ML's cousin) while the second couple has to deal with getting approval for their marriage after the general gets promoted and catches the eye of the empress. The drama's overall theme is pretty low-stakes though, so I wouldn't say these conflicts are *gripping*; they're good for a light watch to see the couples succeed despite all odds. Also it's cute how all the characters help each other out.
However, I would highlight that viewers shouldn't come in with high expectations when it comes to how the schemes pan out because there's a good bit of deus ex machina where someone pops out of nowhere to "save the day."

CONS
✕ Uneven distribution of screen time
The drama pretty much goes all in on one couple over another, but I think it would have been more enjoyable to see more equal parts of each as each episode continues. For example, we focus more on the first couple towards the beginning and I low key forgot about the second couple, lol. I would have been a more attentive watcher if the show decided to split the couples more evenly - or at least not wholly focus on just one couple for an extended period of time. This would have kept me engaged on all the characters equally.

✕ Second couple could have been more
While I liked this couple, I feel like their lack of screen time hindered their relationship. First, we never figure out why the general had two past wives (rip to this dropped plot point). Second, they have to deal with this empress for SO many episodes which had them separate for a while (rip to their relationship development). I feel like their relationship had potential that just wasn't utilized.

✕ Misunderstanding level: 2/10
Happy to report that the bride mix-up storyline doesn't drag too long and the grooms figure things out pretty quickly lol. The couples are true to each other from beginning to end.

OVERALL
I think this drama checks all the boxes for a light, historical romcom that'll leave viewers satisfied. Although nothing particularly makes WRONG CARRIAGE, RIGHT GROOM a "stand-out," the happy ending and journey towards it (featuring all the cute couples) make it worth the watch.

fluffy and fun

if you're looking for a genuinely light hearted romance that still manages to have some intrigue and a relatively interesting plot, Wrong Carriage Right Groom is a show for you. no spoilers here - but the show is kept interesting till the last minute without ever getting TOO heavy and always maintaining a good sense of humor. sure, it's fluffy and a little empty-headed and cliche at times, but in a good way that leaves you with a laugh and a warm heart. fully recommend if you're tired of heavier series and want something that's just fun to watch.

Low Angst & Sweet Romance

I’ve said this before but historical dramas aren’t my normal genre of choice. I had recently watched another of Tian XiWei’s (FL1) dramas, “First Love”, & enjoyed it enough to watch more of her works. The synopsis of this one caught my attention & so I gave it a shot. It’s a pretty easy watch that I enjoyed. It’s got it’s fluffy moments, some great action sequences, laughter-inducing scenes, an element of uncovering & stopping the villain’s schemes, & the sweet love stories of two couples who were destined to be together.

The whole thing is set into motion when two powerful families from the same county plan weddings for their daughters on the same day. It’s definitely done in a competitive way as both are vying to be “top dog”. But that very competitiveness is what leads to the big mix up - by putting their girls in matching wedding attire & matching carriages, it’s no wonder that the girl’s get swapped around in the end.

Neither girl wants their arranged marriage, but they’re good girls who’ve been taught to submit to the will of their elders. That in no way means they’re weak, though. These girls both have their own degrees of strength that’s about to be put to the test. And the grooms have no idea what beautiful chaos is headed their way. 😆

The brides: FL1 (Tian XiWei) grew up with a martial arts instructor as her father. This led to her being a tomboy with great fighting skills. Anything the boys can do, she can do better. She’s outspoken, independent, & not at all familiar or talented in the arts the ladies of her day are supposed to train in. Her skills end up being a great asset in her marriage, though.
FL2 is a meek girl who rarely speaks up. She’s been raised to be submissive & genteel, a true lady of her time. But through her love of learning & her constant seeking of knowledge, she’s become a genius in many subjects. This is later shown when she tackles the world of medical aid for frontline soldiers, something she’d never imagined herself doing.

The grooms: ML1 is a seemingly sickly young man who spends his days indoors to help manage his health. In reality, though, it’s all a show for his family because someone wants to eliminate him due to his position as heir. He’s determined to expose the villain & protect his family from further calamity, hoping his arranged bride will help with his cover.
ML2 is a fierce warrior for the Emperor. He’s a leader of his battalion, quick-witted & a great strategist. He has no time for a marriage nor a desire for a wife. Familial duty demands he step up, though, so he allows the marriage to happen, never intending to have a real relationship with the bride. He’s focused on serving his country & protecting the people.

When the girl’s accidentally get switched after seeking shelter from a storm, much drama (& hilarity) ensues. They both have to hide their identities from their grooms & everyone else (FL2 even has to go so far as to hide her gender!) They each end up with only one other person knowing who they truly are (FL1’s maid & FL2’s “mentor”), which is a blessing for them since that person becomes their strongest ally & source of help as they navigate how to deal with this unexpected event. It truly seems as if they ended up at the wrong place as the girl with a warrior’s training ends up in a “home wife” role, while the gentle girl ends up in an army camp. Both duos seem ill-matched & doomed for failure, but fate seems to know better…

The Leads were a pleasure to watch. All four were wise, loyal, & kind-hearted people. Though there were initial misunderstandings due to the bride mix up, they all quickly came to care for their partner. I appreciated that the writer didn’t draw out their “animosity” scenes for too long. By ep.8 everything was out in the open & they were happy with the spouse fate gave them.

The storyline moved at a good pace. It wasn’t perfect & there were things I wish were done a bit differently, but overall I liked the plot. The support characters were an enjoyable addition with very few being annoying. I appreciated how the couples handled each obstacle as a team, recognizing the villains’ schemes & not succumbing to their sabotage attempts. In the MC’s case, I mean this particularly for when the “childhood sweetheart” character arrived to cause mayhem. I liked how the ML made sure to clear up any possible misunderstandings & assure his wife that she’s the only one he’ll ever love. In the SC’s case, I mean this for when the marriage decree came from the emperor & then later was enforced by the empress. The couple stayed true to their vows, even if it caused them to lose everything (including their lives). Seeing both couples so obviously & openly devoted to one another for 2/3’s of the show was a great relief. No messy breakups or separations for these lovers - they were devoted the whole way through. It was also beautiful how the grooms appreciated the brides for the women they were, never trying to change them or mold them into anyone else. They gave the women the freedom to be themselves, something both women longed for but had never fully experienced. And this earned the men the love of a lifetime - these wives would willingly stand by their sides to fight for their love.

So in conclusion, this is a sweet & easy watch where both couples shine with their chemistry & adoration of one another. 💖

Actors' potential wasted; story is a mess

I liked the initial 6 episodes a lot. I was looking forward to more episodes. But as more episodes passed, I thought "what am I watching?"

The positive: The actors did a pretty good job I feel. They kept me hooked initially and I watched till 11th episode only because the acting is good. But acting solely can't carry the show.

The negatives: Everything apart from acting.
The OST doesn't stand out. They did spend money on set and costumes but what's the point? The story is a mess. There are too many couples and the focus keeps shifting every now and then. The direction is similar to the story.

Overall, I didn't feel I should invest more time beyond 11 episodes due to the above mentioned reasons.
