Super Lighthearted
Ren Hao became my favorite to watch after Everlasting Longing. Wanted more of his dramas, but he's not really ml all the time.So this was a nice watch if you're a fan of him, and want him to finally get the girl.
Storyline wasn't too stressful it was just the right flow for a cute historical drama.
FL was really cute in this not mean and not annoying at all. Which was a plus. Usually when I check out a calm sweet cdrama the fl's characters are always annoying and causing misunderstandings with the ml's for so long.
Here the leads communicate and solve problems together. If she's facing something difficult ml would step in to help her.
The only bad thing I can say about this drama is how the editing wasn't the best and needed fixing, but the drama kinda a few years old. So I overlooked it.
Still it was a fun watch and a happy drama!

Frustrating from the beginning to the absolute bitter end
There are 24 episodes at approximately 45 minutes each and it’s clear they spent a bit of money on this drama. The women are stupid, immature, incapable and weak and by episode 10. I’m completely sick of the FL.
She’s totally useless. She wouldn’t solve a single case and would be dead without ML intervention every time. She’s just an oxygen thief at this point and makes it unwatchable.
When she was collecting money for the flower show, she still can’t do anything but rely on the ML to bail her out.
Why did she take responsibility from Ms Deng in the first place? Because she’s an overwhelming idiot is the answer.
SHE LITERALLY CAN’T DO ANYTHING.
In episode 11 when the whole family were having a meal together, everyone was stupid about their own love lives but switched on to everyone else’s. The family is ridiculous.
ML helped them sooooo much, but they have the audacity to not only disapprove but actively go against him. WHY? This was never made clear apart from FL being their ‘precious daughter.’
The marquis is used to move the plot forward by introducing new characters felt like a blunt hammer. No finesse at all. Soon as anyone is threatened in the slightest. Like the marquise’s Steward telling Ms Cleng they might visit associates if she doesn’t accept the Marquis invitation. They immediately fold like a pack of cards. It’s weak and lazy writing.
Annoyed me that everyone is just waiting for the Marquise to attack them. No one ever takes any initiative, but as soon as they foil his plans, they just wait to be attacked by him again.
In episode 18 or 19 the FL best friend’s ex fiance was allowed to destroy her shop and after he got beaten up by our ML he was allowed to just walk away without taking any responsibility or paying for the damages??????
Stupid, ridiculous nonsense as usual.
Episode 21. Qiyue, Qiyue, Qiyue (the foreign land princess). Is the most idiotic, stupidest woman in the world.
Why are women in Chinese dramas as thick as pig poop?
It’s embarrassing at this point.
They decide to give the marquis an honourable burial????? which just comes across as weak and pathetic nonsense
In episode 24 why is the FL constantly torturing Qiyue when she could just say that Mr Huang is the painter, the painter is the Emperor?. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.
I must admit, their wedding is kind of cute, but it was ruined by our ML and FL wedding where she ran away to take a matchmaking wedding emergency during the middle of her own ceremony. The ending is not cute or funny but quite ridiculously stupid.
I also feel that the FL‘s family should be kow towing to the male lead at least 100 times a day because he clearly was too good for her and all of them.

Better in half
I tried. I really tried to keep watching this but it just got so boring even at 1.25 speed.EVERY episode-the 3rd wheel is quietly in angst not confessing, ML is devotedly waiting for her to respond, FL insists on denying him AND has zero EQ even though her job is to understand people, bad guy utters "you useless fools' to his lackey, even mom repeatedly deadpans 'honey you're amazing'', her family is utterly irked by ML---- I could go on as to how much the dialogue/story for nearly every character stubbornly repeats ....this show should have been a 12 episode mini drama of 20 min.
On top of that ML Ren Hao does not at all look good in this drama--his wig hair looks like he stuck his finger in a socket and his face is tired and is characterization is like he's asleep..sooo much better looking/intriguing in A Female Student Arrives at the Imperial College where he first caught my attention as better than the ML. FL Snow Kong basically just focuses on gazing with her big eyes-yes she's pretty but so little substance to the character.
Fine filler to air while you're doing something else--this did not hold my attention. Thank goodness Legend of The Female General started up---while the story is full of tropes, so much more compelling to see the next episode!

A truly heartwarming story with emphasis on the triumph of goodness and purity of heart
This drama certainly has been a modest project with very limited financial resources. However, it is a truly remarkable one in terms of its message: victory of good over evil is in the nature of things and it does not need unnecessary imaginary dramatization; the modest life of human beings is full of blessings and one may, can and should find happiness in appreciating what destiny has offered him or her and try to make the best of every circumstances. A pure heart triumphs despite all the adversities. True grandeur is not in some sort of illusory grandiosity, it is in remaining loyal to one's mission in life no matter how modest one's means are. In this drama the viewer feels real connection to so many good people from every way of life, from beggars to emperors and princes. One shares their joys and sorrows and also the profound attachment to lofty ideals. The only thing I really wish that was different is the sound tracks. They could have made more romantic sound tracks which would have been in line with the overall ambience of this drama. Was this review helpful to you?

A simple, no-nonsense series.
I didn't really like the series. It felt MEDIUM to me. It felt simplistic. There's no real immersion in the events. There's no over-dramatization. For example, the torture inflicted on the mother, father, and siblings after they're imprisoned isn't agitated to make it harder for them to get out; it's simply glossed over. It's both good and bad. If you ask why? I'd say the events are always approached this way. That's why there's neither suspense nor suspense. It's like what happens in everyday life. The head matchmaker's daughter enters the matchmaking business, and she's helped by a young, handsome, and wealthy man, who in turn was helped by this girl when she was a child. It starts with such a premise. Not bad at all. But what can be learned from it? Could there have been anything more? One might ask, should it have remained so simple? I was expecting a more dramatic, more intriguing, more stimulating, more penetrating, and if necessary, more hurtful drama. But it wasn't. A series like this could have been made by simply looking at it from a simple perspective and thinking it was just a snack.
I liked the actors. I found Snow Kong very successful. This was the first time I've watched him for such a long time; his previous roles were lesser. He didn't give me a sense of himself. I saw that here. Well done. Ren Hao, on the other hand, seems to have fallen off the charts. A very dull role. I expected more. It was so appropriate. The woman was given the spotlight. It wasn't a role that suited Ren Hao, in my opinion. But the actor plays his part.
The supporting roles suit their roles. They don't have anything special. I was surprised by Chen Zi Han. This role was too small for him. It wasn't. I don't understand how he accepted such a lowly role. I didn't like it. I didn't like the role either. If he watches it, he might ask, "What was I doing in this role?"
Yang Ming Na and Yao Zhoua Jun, who plays her husband, make a great pairing. I think Chen Zi Han suits Yang Ming Na's role. I also think Yang Ming Na suits Chen Zi Han's role. I think it would have been better if the cast had been divided like this. I think it's worth watching to pass the time.
