DISTASTER hits AFTER ANOTHER DISASTER

Disaster strikes with a zombie outbreak, following an already devastating famine.
I have watched many movies and series in this genre—Hollywood, Asian, Western. They all feel the same with only slight differences. It gave me a vibe similar to Resident Evil ( i mean from cgi)
The cinematography was fantastic, and the CGI was impressive.
I like the concept of an infection spreading from toxic fish and the scarcity of food driving people to explore every possible way to eat and survive. I also appreciate how they showed that water made zombies stronger, as the virus originated from the fish.
The problem was that it was ridiculously amusing how the hero always managed to make it through. It was good that the ending was happy, and the hero should survive after saving his loved ones. However, you could make it more realistic, as he seemed to endure every possible thing that could have killed him—not only surviving but also being burned, cooked, and engraved.
You can watch it when you have nothing else to watch, just for enjoyment purposes.

Muay Thai Meets Zombies – Brutal, Fast, and Absolutely Epic!

🥊 “When Zombies Meet Muay Thai… and It’s a 10/10 Knockout” 🧟‍♂️

I’ve watched so many zombie movies and TV shows, but Ziam easily ranks as one of the best. This isn’t your typical “run and survive” zombie flick—this is a wild mix of Thai martial arts and intense zombie horror, and it works so damn well. 👏

The pacing is fast, the gore is realistic, and the zombies? Absolutely terrifying—brutal, relentless, and so well done they feel real. Add in Muay Thai fighting sequences, and you get some of the most jaw-dropping action I’ve seen in the genre. Usually, it’s all guns and survival tactics in zombie films, but here the hand-to-hand combat is the star. 💥

Mark, the male lead, deserves all the praise for his performance and incredible stunt work. His fight scenes alone are reason enough to watch this movie.

If you’re into zombies, action, or just want something fresh and thrilling, Ziam is a must-watch. 10/10. Highly recommend—check it out on Netflix. You won’t regret it. 🔥🎬

A Decent Zombie Movie

I placed a spoiler alert at the end of this review.

Overall, this was pretty good movie. It’s been a very long time I enjoyed watching a zombie movie, but admit the script has some weak sections. On the positive, it did a very good job setting up the world, character introductions, and grabbing the view’s attention in the beginning. The entire cast did an incredible job with their roles. All of the action sequence were great and the fighting looked real. They also did an outstanding job with the cinematography, special effects, and FX make-up. As for the negative, this is one of those movies that starts off strong with a decent middle but then a messy ending. I was fully invested in the script until it started falling apart in the last 30 minutes. The ending was not terrible, but it could have been better. However, I appreciate that they wanted to do something different.

Random Note:

The title: Zombie + Siam = Ziam

Although it is hinted with MDL’s synopsis, the one on Netflix does not mention this takes place in the future. Be prepared to take in a lot of information in the first 5 to 10 minutes of the movie. They did a good job, but it’s still a lot if you are watching it with subtitles.

******Potential Spoiler Alert******

I like they don’t fully explain exactly how the fish caused the outbreak. It’s not about how it happens, but the fact it is happening that makes zombies scary. I just know this is another example why I don’t eat raw fish.

The ending was very ambiguous and hints at a possible sequel which I would actually see.

GOOD ONE (sad, not a perfect one as I expected)!

I love Zombie works :)
Waited for this to release-- My first Thai zombie movie :)

A Good Action Zombie movie.
(Not a gripping one but a very interesting watch.
I had a lot of expectations on this seeing the trailer but reached only to some extent of those expectations. Anyways, Don't miss to watch this, it's not boring :) )

***
The Story is Simple --
Zombies outbreak in a hospital after people eating some strange fish.

Muay Thai fighter, ML is on a mission to save his doctor girlfriend stuck among zombies in the hospital and he meets a kid on the way, who searches for his mom.

***
Opening scene is an action sequence.
All the Action sequences, Zombies fight scenes or zombie chasing scenes are Very Good.

First 20 mins is lil slow but later, it's very good n interesting.

Direction is Cool.
Cinematography is Very Good -- Grey n Black tones denote the distress the world is in.
Zombie makeups are Good.

BGM scores, Song in the climax and closing credits theme are Very Good.

***
ML n FL performances are Cool, especially ML in action scenes or fighting with the zombies.

Special mention: Kid is very lovely 👌🏻
He acted very well.

Kid and his mom scene is sad.

***
The Ending!? :o -- what is it? :o
(Sad or not a very happy ending as expected or what? Just watch, am not writing it here in spoiler hehe)

But Don't miss the end credits too.

Also, Looks like, there is potential to the story further and there would be a Sequel.

***
My Rating is 8/10.
One Time watch 👌🏻

Plot Armour deserves to be listed as a cast member

I enjoyed this a lot, didn't expect a lot so I wasn't disappointed. There was an incredible amount of plot armour but it's a zombie movie that started from eating fish, I can suspend my disbelief for as long as they want.
I wasn't a huge fan of the cast and the music wasn't appropriate a lot of times to be honest, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the movie. I'm definitely looking forward to a part 2.

This movie reinforced how tired zombies are

Though zombies had their heyday over a decade ago, entertainment with this theme can still be great if done right. Unfortunately, this movie couldn't rise to the occasion. I didn't care about the leads and their love, and that he was willing to risk life and limb to save her. The situation with the zombies was uninteresting too. Moreover, the fact that ML was mostly taking down zombies with his bare hands was ridiculous. The FL was annoying, but not as annoying as the kid whose only lines were "get away from me. Stop." to the mindless zombies who was determined to kill him. Carl Grimes he was not. Lol. I ended up turning this off about halfway through because it just wasn't good. I didn't care about any of the characters. Or how they'd get out of the mess they were in.

Heroes never die… LITERALLY

First of all, this came out even before Zomvivor LOL.

Anyway, I really liked the unique take on the zombie virus where they got it from an anglerfish. The VFX were pretty great too especially when the zombies mutated into looking like an anglerfish nearing the end. The action scenes looked crisp most of the time. The movie definitely served flesh and blood.

What I don’t like is how obvious the protagonist halo was on the main lead AKA Singh. The guy just wouldn’t die even when he was just strolling around the hospital lol. I also don’t like how loud the kid’s voice was like it’s a mystery how the zombies didn’t swarm him after all that shouting.

Anyway, since they made the ending like that, I’m expecting another season? Maybe the location would be different (I’m assuming Ziam happened in Bangkok since it was mentioned in the movie)

Anyway, a good take on a zombie film from Thailand.

The most preventable outbreak of zombies ever.

The fact it all started because rich folks found a suspiciously looking fish and decided to eat it anyway. What could possibly go wrong? Apparently many things.

Was it anything more than a fun zombie movie? No. Was it a fun zombie movie? Yes. And that’s completely fine. The action scenes were actually good. The fighting seemed realistic at least in terms of choreography - punches, kicks, using whatever you have around you to defend yourself. We did not see people flying and doing 4 pirouettes before kicks for aesthetic reasons.

The make up and special effects used for zombies was also fun. Especially the final stage of mutation, which I wished happened earlier. Blood and gore was mostly realistic except a few extremely obvious cgi splashes here and there. The move was dark enough though to ignore them.

The plot was nothing more and nothing less than “trying to survive”. What stood out for me is the fact we from the beginning start with the post-apocalyptic set up caused by climate change. There is no unnecessary time wasted on setting up the world, explaining the changes that happened because of the zombie outbreak - the world looks like it survived 3 zombie wars before we even see the first zombie anyway.

What’s most important - the characters are good. Yes, Sing was a bit too indestructible, still interesting to follow. The fact Mark is good looking does help too. That said, the best character was for sure Buddy. It’s a child so of course he makes a few extremely dumb choices, but they are in the realm of my understanding based on the shock this tiny human must have survived.

On the not so great side - what was that right before the credits roll scene? That makes no sense. It’s a clear way to set up the second movie (which I would not mind watching), but it could have been done in a better way. Based on the fact our lovely ML left the mutated fish at his house, and it seems like theft is common, we can assume the fish was in fact eaten, and now people eat each other even outside of the hospital - aka perfect setup for the bigger, more epic zombie sequel.

One major complaint - there was a moment in the plot when non-infected people started fighting with each other, while they were also fighting against zombies and it made exactly zero sense. Why are you fighting guys? More brains, less muscles please. And these slow motion close up punches? Stop.

Overall, it was fun. Requires zero brain power, keeps the tension high for most part. The characters are well grounded and likeable, you do want to see them survive, which is always a plus for a horror movie.

You have to shut down your brain sometimes...because it did not make sense

Disclaimer

What I am writing here are my views and thoughts about this movie. Some of you may not like it. That does not give you the right to try to come at me with your opinions on why this movie should get a higher or lower score and why it is better/worse than I think it is. You have your own opinions, and I have mine. Kindly respect that.

All right, start off by saying that I only decided to give this movie a watch, as I needed a movie beginning with the letter Z, and this was coming out on Netflix. I will say that it started out reasonably well with the story and the acting. We see why they have become zombies (answer: eating fish in a wasteland country, which they thought was safe). The graphics for this movie...oh wee! Thailand truly outdid themselves in that aspect. And while I was confused when the zombies began to mutate (I actually shouted, 'What the f$%k is even going on?!!), I saw from the comments section that it was a fish mutation. This then made sense to me, as they did eat fish, which began this whole zombie outbreak.

Now, it's from here that I am going to mention what stood out to me in a negative way. First, I will start off with the obvious. This man is fighting these zombies, most of the time, with his bare hands, as he is a Muay Thai fighter. At most times, I was basically asking myself, 'So none of those zombies can hold onto his hands and bite him?!! He's THAT good at Muay Thai?!!! ' I mean, it just seems unrealistic to me. But, apparently, this man is invincible, as later on, not only is he trapped in a car surrounded by zombies, but the car BLOWS UP WITH HIM STILL ALIVE IN IT. And he miraculously comes out unscratched and whole. Another time is when he is on the rooftop fighting off the zombies; the building blows up. And at the very end we see him – STILL VERY MUCH ALIVE and alone in the wasteland with the mutated zombies. This just doesn't make sense to me. Is Sing a superhero like Superman, and we just haven't found his weakness? Because how?!! How did he survive these two events and still be in one piece and alive!!!! Just doesn't make sense to me.

All in all, it was an interesting movie. The way it ended, if they wanted to, they could make a sequel, which then I will know not to think of what impossible things are going on in this movie but just enjoy the flow of it. And I would like to add that I saw a comment saying this was the worst zombie movie they have watched. I would like to introduce that person to a Filipino movie called 'Izla'- that was a pack of nonsense. I would like to end this review by saying that even with these few flaws from the movie, I was still entertained.

Not the worst zombie movie I've seen

Not the best, but not the worst. It introduced a new idea for a zombie movie but fell back on clichéd tropes. I would watch it if a sequel were to happen. The acting was good, the storyline could use some work, but I did enjoy the music. The characters could use some more work fleshing them out so to speak.

The same formula all over again ?

The movie starts off decent with a cool zombie survival vibe, some good ideas like the hospital containment, and a few convincing fight scenes, but it quickly turns into something silly and hard to take seriously. The second half is full of unrealistic moments, like the main character surviving gunshots, explosions, a collapsing building, and fighting off hordes of zombies without real injury, while also making dumb choices, like slow-walking to a helicopter instead of running. The acting is weak, scenes are dragged out, and the story becomes predictable and frustrating. It ends up being more funny than scary, with wasted potential despite an interesting start.
