So much better than season 3 and 4 !!!

Even if Paradise feels still a bit underwhelming and Inferno could be made much tougher, I truly think the production team did an incredible job at casting this season participants as well as putting together the various storylines. There were a good variety among the cast, not just models and CEOs of their own company (with only 1 employee -aka themselves), some people providing really good TV, without those feeling over-produced. There were some production hijincks but honestly it was done quite skillfully to amp the angst and create a little bit of thrills...The challenges were overall quite exciting and fun, even if sometimes quite (maybe even a bit too much) aggressive. Once again the panelists elevated the watching experience with their relatable reactions.

I would recommend this to people looking for an exciting dating show. The production did a great job at correcting the flaws from previous seasons, and provided some memorable TV moments. I screamed and laughed at the screen, I swooned, I theorized and had many discussions on it. Even if the finale was very predictable to me, I had such fun time and I will for sure be looking forward the next season.

Single’s Inferno S5 is Messy, Chaotic, and Perfect !!!

Season 5 brings the hottest, flirtiest singles to a deserted island where the only way out is true romance and a Paradise night — and the result is one of the most entertaining Asian dating shows in years. The cast is full of strong personalities, unreadable vibes, and at least one “Mina Sue” who keeps everything explosively unpredictable.

Hee‑sun and I‑geon shine as the standout leads, with grounded charm and chemistry that feel genuinely worth rooting for. The MCs are unusually honest and un‑polished, making the drama feel less scripted and more like front‑row seats to a real‑life rom‑com.

If you love messy love triangles, confusing choices, and that “why did they do that?” pleasure‑pain mix, drop everything and watch. 8.0/10.

The best one, albeit still not great

Things I adored

1 The pane as usual. Great chemistry and great laughs. The addition of Dex works and Lee Da Hee and Hong Jin Kyung make me laugh the most. Their interactions are priceless. I'm looking forward to the next season just for them.

Things I loved

1 That for once we didn't focus only on one player. There was focus on one idiot, but at least we had the chance to see the rest of the cast as well. Most of it to be specific because the woman who came later had barely any screen time and another female participant as well.

Things I liked

1 That for once there were two couples I believed they could be real and they could make it outside the show. I don't have high hopes but Hee-sun and Su-bin, and Jae-jin and Joo-young seemed to not entirely fake their feelings toward each other. I loved both couples, they had some great moments and I truly hope they stay together.

Things I disliked

1 It seemed scripted a lot of times. The story between Su-bin and Hee-sun felt scripted. It's strange what I'll say but I didn't believe in his infatuation with Mina-su so I think the production used this to create conflict. I'm not sure how anyone in their right mind would choose Mina-su instead of Hee-sun.

2 The fact that my two favorite couples had the male contestants waver between other women. I would have loved it if they were more solid during the whole show.

Things I hated

1 Mina-Su. What the heck was wrong with this woman? I've never seen anyone this messy in my whole life and I lived enough to have met all kinds of people. I didn't like her, not once, and I think she was playing the whole time. What I mean is that she pretended. I didn't buy her fake tears, her fake illness, no matter what you say. An attention seeker if I've seen one. I didn't buy her change of character either. Phony change dictated probably by the production team or something else happened. I don't care enough to find out.

2 The couple Min-gi and idiot. He was another phony and brainless contestant and I never believed in that couple. I'm not sure what a smart gorgeous woman like Min-gi saw in him, and I'll never understand her choice.

3 Go-eun. I know unpopular opinion since everyone seems to find her beautiful and a good person, but I disliked her almost as much as Mina-su. I felt like she wasn't herself and pretended the whole time. Not only I can't believe this person was Miss Korea, so much I find her unattractive, but compared to all the other contestants she was the ugliest. Not only that but her choice didn't make any sense, better she styed alone and also her indecisiveness was irritating to the highest point.

Speechless

Watching this season was truly a rollercoaster—from unexpected twists to intense battles for each contestant’s chosen partner.

After finishing Season 2, I immediately jumped to Season 5, and I can confidently say that this season surpasses Season 2 in many ways. While Season 2 had its highlights (including some memorable moments from Jinyoung), Season 5 delivered a deeper emotional intensity and a more raw portrayal of how the contestants expressed their feelings. The overall tone felt more daring and emotionally charged.

My favorite couple was Seunggi and Min Gee—absolutely iconic.

What truly stood out to me was Min Gee’s competitiveness. Her determination, confidence, and willingness to fight for what she wants were thrilling to watch. The intensity in her gaze alone made her unforgettable.

The same goes for Seunggi. His consistency and resolve matched Min Gee perfectly. Together, they are undeniably iconic.

The twist in Episode 9 genuinely caught me off guard. It felt like watching a full-blown K-drama unfold. Episode 10, 'pool scene', stood out gracefully. The tension, eye contact, and unspoken emotions were incredibly well-executed and left a strong impression. That scene alone made me appreciate the show even more.

Overall, this season was phenomenal. While waiting for Episodes 11 and 12, I started watching Season 4, but even without finishing it yet, Season 5 still stands out as the stronger season. The chemistry among the contestants was excellent and played a major role in making the show so engaging.

Mina Sue deserves special mention—her actions stirred strong reactions, but undeniably made the season more entertaining. Her final decision felt grounded and satisfying.
Jaejin was a standout personality—naturally funny and very charismatic.
Sungmin had moments that felt overwhelming, but it added to the dynamic of the group.
Sam was steady and consistent.
Hyeonwoo—a learning experience, but growth is part of the journey.
Seunggi carried himself with confidence and style throughout the season.
I Geon truly caught my attention—I hope to see more of him in future dramas.
Hyunjae—perhaps next time.
Subeen also stood out; his presence and charm were impressive, and his journey felt rewarding to watch.

In conclusion, this season delivered strong storytelling, memorable moments, and compelling character dynamics. Easily one of the most engaging seasons so far.

Season 5 - Brought the Entertainment

I've watched every SI and I always start the season excited, but end feeling let down. This season was no different but I would say the "down" part of it was slightly elevated. I think the best place to start is to just list my likes and dislikes about this season. I will also write some on the contestants and the coupling up at the end. If you do not want to read spoilers then don't read the end of the review.

What I liked:
-Cooking together in a kitchen/eating place was back and I loved it!! Especially in the first few episodes when the contestants are meeting each other and flirting over cutting carrots and making rice.
-I thought the Inferno sets were really nice. The places the couples could hang out and talk looked comfortable and inviting.
-Paradise was enjoyable, which included some activities like bowling. It was nice that some activities were included as just watching couples eat and drink gets boring.
-Loved the couples photo shoot competition, and also the truth game they played.
-The competitions were also good. Matching up with colored balls where the pink ball was the kiss of death. Very funny!

What I didn't like:
-There is a certain amount of SI that just seems so contrived. Like the contestants are given a role to play and then they play it out, only some are really bad at playing their role. There are so many times when it doesn't feel natural with the contestants. But then reality shows are all about putting people in unnatural situations and see how they react.
-Dating is so different from this show. Korean dating is even different than this show. So it's frustrating to have to watch people "date" in an unnatural way. Really the only thing they do is have numerous conversations but they aren't allowed to know their age or what they do, which in Korea forms the foundation for how people communicate to each other, at least until they go to Paradise. So a great deal of this show is watching and listening to all these awkward conversations.
-For the first time, the panelists disappointed me. More often than not, when I was frustrated with the show, the panelists kept me entertained, but not this time. They did well in the first episodes, really funny and entertaining, but the last couple of episodes I found the panelists to be too judgmental. Almost mean. One example was when Hyun-woo made a confession about his feelings at the final dinner. I thought he was sweet and sincere. The panelists just made fun of him, and I thought what they said was quite rude. In Season 3, drama queen and asshole, Gwan-Hee, got away with so much bad behavior and the panelists for the most part excused it. In this season, they were especially hard on certain contestants who were not nearly as bad as Gwan-Hee.
-I didn't like that they cut out the final challenge and winning couple's dinner. We only saw bits and pieces. But they seemed to do this by making the final choice long and drawn out. I would have preferred the challenge and seeing the couple's date.
-It's getting annoying to watch scenes play twice, and lines repeated two or three times over.

My thoughts on the contestants and the couplings: Warning!! Spoiler Alert!! I actually do not believe any of these couples will end up together once the show is done. Let's just be real here. They are on this show for exposure and to inject some life into their careers.
1. Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung-hun - Mina Sue was this season's drama queen and boy did she bring the drama. She was definitely the contestant everyone loved to hate. Sung-hun was a breath of fresh air for this show. Incredibly intelligent and successful, he didn't play mind games, just brought his calm and confidant self to the mix. He was a favorite of mine. He was really patient with Mina Sue as she proceeded to try on every guy on the island, but in the end they left together hand in hand.
2. Kim Goeun and Woo Sung-min- Goeun ended up being the female that three guys were vying for. She stayed mysterious to the very end drawing out the suspense endlessly in terms of who she would end up with. The panelists were all surprised when she chose Sung-min but I wasn't. She and her 2nd choice, I-geon, knew each other from a mutual acquaintance and I always wondered if she knew something about I-geon that we the audience didn't know and maybe it was a red flag(???). Who knows.
3. Kim Min-gee and Song Seung-il - these two were definitely the two funnest people on the island. They spoke very openly and honestly and said some things were just hilarious. They are the type of couple people enjoy hanging around because they're so funny together. My favorite of the season.
4. Lee Joo-Young and Kim Jae-Jin - they were the "artistic" couple. She a designer and he a dancer. They were really cute, romantic, and adorable to watch.
5. Park Hee-sun and Lim Su-been - a low-key couple that the producers tried to interject some drama into their relationship, but it just didn't work. They were cute and adorable but so very boring as well.
Others that didn't get picked - You can't talk about this season without talking about Jo I-geon. About as hot a guy as you can get. I saw him in the Kdrama The Trunk and he's smoking hot, hot, hot. He was brought on as a game-changer and he didn't disappoint. I'm sure he did this to get more exposure for his career and I hope he gets it. Also brought on as a game-changer was Lee Ha-eun. She got very little air time, but what I did see of her, she seemed really funny and a fun person to be around. Lastly, Ham Ye-Jin, Youn Hyun-Jae, and Shin Hyeon-woo who along with Ha-eun and I-geon were sitting there at the very end not getting picked. I enjoyed all of these contestants who came across as sincere and nice people. And it just goes to show that attraction is a weird and funny thing because sometimes the nicest people end up alone.

BEST SEASON BY FAR‼️

okay so I am going to start this review by listing my favorites this season
1. mingee
2. go eun (but she did disappoint me in the last ep)
3. i geon
4. sangil

- this season is honestly the best one so far by miles for me, the chemistry was so good and organic aside from the unpredictability of some contestants wink* Mina sue wink*
- this season really made me feel with the cast and I felt like I was wholeheartedly watching and talking and feeling the same way as the commentators it was overall really well casted.

- some gripes I had that weren’t the shows issue but more particularly to the contestants was WHY DIDNT GO EUN PICK I GEON!! I was so thrown off the face card on that man and their chemistry like the pool scene alone would of been enough to snatch me right up and I do wish like the panel said that we saw more of her interactions with seungmin to make it feel like a logical choice sigh I was rooting for igeon so hard for my ship to sink but my og ship of mingee and sangil floated away happily so I’m thankful for that.(I SO DESPERATELY WISH THEY GOT MORE SCREEN TIME ONCE THEY SOLIDIFIED LIKE FLOWER RING WHERE??) I actually have some faith in the longevity of the relationships this season and I feel like while a case can be made for mina sue I don’t think there was a big it girl this season I feel the couples were well balanced and again the casting was so good!!
- speaking of Mina sue I completely agree with the panel regarding her actions I was so baffled by the whole campfire situation and her reaction to subeen I just couldn’t understand but I’m glad Samuel got his shine in the end

I'd never seen Single's Inferno before, but I decided to give it a try because sometimes when my head is full of work or studies, it's harder to pay attention to dramas or movies, and I need to watch a reality show, something more lighthearted that doesn't require so much of my attention. I really liked the format of 'Better Late than Single,' but Single's Inferno put me off because of its racy trailers. I mistakenly thought it was more like 'La Isla de las Tentaciones' (a Spanish reality show where you end up watching them constantly having sex with each other and cheating on their partners). In the end, I'm glad I gave it a chance when I didn't know what to watch because it wasn't what I expected, and it pleasantly surprised me. I'm hooked! I'm caught up with this fifth season and have started watching the previous ones.

Season 5 is arguably the strongest and most entertaining insdebates

kdrma better Highlights & Controversies
• Mina Sue Choi (Miss Earth 2022): Initially praised for her confidence, later criticized for her “messy” behavior and switching between multiple male contestants. Viewers debated whether the backlash was due to her personality or unfair judgment.
• Chemistry & Drama: Early episodes feature bold moves, emotional confessions, and jealousy, making it more gripping than previous seasons.
• Energy Boost: Critics note Season 5 revitalizes the format after Seasons 3 and 4 felt repetitive. Polarizing Cast: Some viewers find certain contestants manipulative or disrespectful, which may affect enjoyment.
• Escapism vs. Reality: The show leans heavily into fantasy dating scenarios, which can feel detached from real-world relationships.
• Cultural Sensitivity: Global audiences may interpret behaviors differently, leading to mixed reactions.

As “vilãs” cumprem função narrativa clara. Elas movimentam a história, geram incômodo e, paradoxalmente, sustentam o interesse.
