a travel ad with a sweet couple hidden inside, read my comment with spoiler for the ending
Overall: I'm not a fan of love triangles and they botched the ending in the uncut version, but it had some natural and sweet moments with a beautiful setting. 8 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on WeTV uncut (ep 1 had a steamy dream sequence) https://wetv.vip/en/play/5fq35scvkivzb61/f4101ahdlpc-EP01%3A_I_Promise_l_Will_Comeback_(Uncut_ver.) and cut https://wetv.vip/en/play/xtdec2zi85eqk1e/l4101wa8qde-EP01A%3A_I_Promise_I_Will_Comeback ; later aired the cut version on YouTube for free https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlEgr3uWfHDkOyqsePjtntPJCvBDl9qxo&si=folb1DJzW3LLZbp7 and the uncut version on YouTube for channel membersContent Warnings: blood, held against will (major content warning, read my comment)
Watch Suggestions (to remove the love triangles and focus on the m/m couple, these are the cut timings)
- skip episode 1 (though uncut has a steamy dream around 37 minutes)
- episode 2 watch part A 7:10-12:30, part B beginning-9:40, part C beginning-2 and 6:15-end (2 minutes less in cut version, seemed to have shortened the shower scene at the end which was fine because it dragged on too long in the uncut)
- episode 3 watch part B 2:25-4:50 and 6:10-9 if you like singing, part C 3:10-5:30 (episode 3 seemed to be the same length)
- episode 4 could watch part A 5:40-6, all of part B, part C beginning-4:30, 13:30-15:50 (uncut watch 5:40-7:20 which was shortened in the cut version)
- episode 5 watch part A 7:40-end, part B 4:10-9:20 and all of part C (uncut watch 24-28:05 which was shortened in the cut version)
- episode 6 watch part A 6:20-8:45, part B beginning-5 and 10-end, part C 2-13:40 (and stop here unless you want to use a box of tissues)
What I Liked
- scenery
- matching each other's goofiness
- sweet and caring moments
- realistic conversations/flirting
- best dream in EP 1 uncut around 37 min
- the uncle and mom
- consent in episode 5
- that the friend confessed and then was respectful
- production value (one of the lead actors Tontae pitched this to 9NAA who rejected it and he went on to produce it himself)
Room For Improvement
- started with a flash forward montage
- multiple love triangles
- the stuff with dog poop
- two bloody noses in episode 2
- continuity errors like tissue in nose and then it vanished in episode 2
- the 3rd wheel woman in episode 3
- comedy sound effects didn't make things funny
- replaying 4 minutes of the end of the last episode at the beginning of the next episode is way too long
- too many flashback montages
- they really messed up the ending in the uncut version, it was just too much to be believable

how it started- quick review
This seems to be shaping up as a love triangle... or maybe even a love square, considering the twins’ involvement. The show almost feels like a tourism ad, but there are no cringey product placements, which is a definite plus. One of the leads doesn’t speak Thai fluently and uses a mix of English and Thai—it worked better than expected. As for that one female character... she says the same two words 31 times (yes, I counted), and now they’re permanently stuck in my head.
The second episode seems more promising—there’s more drama, and it feels like the actual story is starting to unfold. Just don’t go in with super high expectations, and you’ll probably enjoy it more.

Slow burn…… but a breath of fresh air in current BL world
This took me by surprise but firstly……..Music:
Loved that some of the music in this series was sung by the cast and they were lovely. I’ve downloaded them and listen to them often 10/10
Cast:
I LOVE TK. He is an amazing actor so I’m not surprised at his performance here. The others are good as well which is a plus. They all look good which helps lol but their acting matches too. While I would have swapped some of them (Victor/Nankrai) , it isn’t too bad as it is.
Story/Plot:
A BREATH OF FRESH AIR, considering what’s going on in the BL world at the moment, it’s nice to see a non- University trope or enemies to lovers trope. This feels new and authentic. It’s nice to see a Thai bl series in a different location and slightly different Thai dialect but still be very engaging and interesting.
It starts slow but picks up which is good because they show how the love starts and it feels like you are the third wheel and intruding in their love story hahaha. I really really like this series and would 100 % recommend it

What could of been a good BL crashed hard at the end.
It could of been a decent drama, but the ending crashed so bad. Acting was bearable to an extent. Having to act in another native language can be difficult I understand on top of a language barrier too. I'll give it a pass. Ending honestly made no sense to me, nothing was ever explained about what happened and it just felt very sloppy and rushed. It started off pretty decent but crashed at the end.Was this review helpful to you?
The first and last episodes have most of the story, the rest is just Phrae tourism promotion
I liked the first episode and the potential of the story, but it just got increasingly annoying after that. It's like they put a good part of the story into Ep 1, and then the rest of the episodes were 'Top attractions and merchandise of Phrae', and then again came back at the end to somehow try to save the story again. It failed miserablyIt's a pity because both the story and the actors, particularly Tontae and Best, had good potential, which was plain wasted. You can watch to drool at Nankrai (Best), who is plain yummy, otherwise safe to give it a miss.
BL-needle score- 8. Reasonably high BL-ness
I hope Best gets noticed and get caste in good lead roles, because I would definitely want to see 'more' of him :D

Chaos, flaws… and my weakness
I feel like I need to justify giving this one such a high rating. If I’m being completely honest, it’s deeply, like deeeply flawed. There were moments I could barely get through, and yet… we had a real gem of a story here. This should have been a movie, with some polishing and attention to detail, the potential was THERE.The final episode won me over, it carried so much weight that I ended up rating the whole thing based on that. I don’t want to review just the last episode, but honestly, I’d rate it even higher than the whole drama.
The rest of the series was chaotic, extremely messy at times and the story-line often felt odd. I’ll admit, I lost focus here and there, so maybe some parts were more logical than I noticed… but my mind was wandering. Not even the abs nor some of the best shoulders I’ve ever seen (Hsia Te damn man, I need your workout routine) could keep me glued to the screen.
That said, the base of the story was decent, and the emotions somehow really shone through. So don’t judge me because I have such a soft spot for stories with even a spark of an idea, even if it’s not the most original one. I’m especially weak on sacrifice for love. That’s all I’ve got—make of it what you will. :)

Heartbreaking Masterpiece
I'm here to raise the overall score of this drama. A 6.8 overall is absolutely criminal! This is a masterpiece. Plain and simple.First off, the story itself. Yes, love triangles are messy. But they happen, and the way it's portrayed here is beautiful, respectful and real. I did NOT care for the ending and I will be traumatized forever, but we all survived MODC, and that was even worse, so I'll take this one even though I screamed UNFAIR! at the screen all through the final scene. The rest of the story is beautiful. Everything feels so genuine and real. The flirting, the loving, the waiting, the anticipation and the desillusion. The mix of Thai, Thenglish and Taiwan Mandarin takes a bit of getting used to, but enhances the story. This is how these holiday romances go, and I love that they chose not to have them all speak fluent Thai bc that would have been so unrealistic.
Second, the Scenery. There has never been a Thai drama that did not want to make me pack my bags and hop on the next plane to Phuket, Bangkok or Chiang Mai. But now I'm angry I was not born rich so I could see these amazing views for myself tomorrow. The village, the mountains, the cave, the museums, the restaurants. They were all filmed in a way that makes you feel nostalgic to places you´ve never been.
Third, the music. A good score makes any drama better. In this case the songs accompanying the scenes have been chosen perfectly. I have the OST on repeat, it´s so beautiful.
Last, the acting. Apart from the actress playing Somo (what the helly), the acting was on point. The right mood tones, looks and gestures.
Overall I was very impressed with this drama. Very different from the usual BL drama's we get from Thailand (not that there's anything wrong with those). I would love to see more of these atmospherical drama's that suck you into their mood and let you feel like you are actually there. But, I get it. The ending. The last episode that ruined it all. We ignored the very clear foreshadowing and did not see this coming. How could we? And however much I hate to admit it and think about it, there was no other logical way for the conclusion of this story. And even though it's tragic, tragedy is also part of life.
For the budget and resources the makers had (it is a solo indie production), this is an absolute masterpiece.

Was it the right choice?
It started with a nice simple feel to the story with a hint of the spirit world added for mystery. Fine. There was a close knit rural setting which felt like it was secluded from the outer world at times. It started off well enough with TK and Nan Krai (NK) as childhood best friends now into adulthood. NK harbors a romantic love for TK, who seems oblivious to it. On meeting Victor, TK immediately is smitten and its reciprocated. NK realizes this and although he confesses, TK sees it as a brotherly love confession. NK resolves to wait for him as he knows in his heart, only TK would make him happy. Victor returns home and TK grieves for him. Within that period, NK kisses him and TK gently rebuffs him. His heart has made the choice for him. So far so good. On receiving an invitation from Victor he happily travels to meet him. He arrives to find that Victor had passed away. Here is where a very sharp turn from credible occurs. He returns home and continues to grieve. After a few days, he goes in search NK after remembering NK's love for him, only to learn he too has died in an accident. Broken and distraught, he rushes to the cave and cries out in anger in his despair. He is given a reboot and returns to the day Victor first arrives. He meets him, with tears aflow, he wishes him well and goes to meet NK who comforts him.
My concerns in the story:
Rather than lose two, he settles for NK in the reboot. Does NK deserve to be a second choice?
After the reboot, why did he make the choice to walk away from Victor when he could have made a different choice and be with him since he knows the time of his demise?
His mother's love for him kept him from growing into a man making his own decisions until it was too late. His counterparts were already working. Why did he still need her permission ?
What was the purpose of the twin San Lian telling him to stay? He has read the diary. He is still a stranger to him. He was close to his brother so he invites his lover to stay? No time period given. A week? A month? Just stay. Really?
He welcomes his own death, and feels content in leaving both behind. In doing so, he still causes pain to NK alone and resolves his.
Is all of this a dream sequence to deal with the losses?
My concerns with the writing:
If this is not a dream:-
How can Victor meet him in the afterlife as someone he loved, for the reboot had occurred which prevented their love story from beginning?
Why on his return, no one told him of NK death? After his grieving had abated, he now remembers his friend? Why didn't he question his absence? Their relationship had been written as close friends, why wasn't he told? This felt like, ok since Victor is dead, let me turn to NK.
If he had settled for NK, didn't NK now have the right to meet him in the afterlife as NK was the one who loved him in both versions? Victor didnt know him as such in the reboot.
Why did the writer opt for the easy way out, rather than choosing a partner and sticking with it? It shows an unwillingness to resolve the situation and straddle the fence between. It didn't solve the situation, it erased it thus nullifying the reason for the whole story.
Why do writers create irritating desperate women as the spurned love? Is this a way to show that it's understandable to refuse her advances?
Why were the conversations at times extremely childish and immature? Poop on his shoes. TK touching Victor in the gallery.
Why wasn't a common language used and understood between TK and Victor? Wasn't this the reason for his hire? This felt truly odd.
Why was the humor not humorous and as for the spurned female, consistently outlandish? A woman can be warm, loving and beautiful and still be refused. Rather than making her a caricature.
Why was it necessary to show 2 nc fantasies? The script shouldn't require 2 as he was not the end game. The first could have been omitted. This created a deeper sense of loss to the viewer and more empathy for him than anyone else as he was the one to lose everything in both versions.
Honestly, there were times that were enjoyable as the 3 mls felt matched. The interractions felt natural. NK with TK and also TK with Victor. The writing overall needed to be better. The acting from some needs to be improved and the script, well...... Scenery was ok as it was basically a tour guide while falling in love. Though this could have shortened a bit to allow for the last episode to not feel crammed. I would have preferred a more realistic ending. Watchable, yes.

This drama was an absolute masterpiece. I genuinely can’t find a single fault in it. Everything—from the acting to the story to the cinematography—felt intentional, nuanced, and deeply moving.Tontae was my main reason for watching, having adored him in Venus in the Sky. And my god, he did not disappoint. His performance here was raw, layered, and heartbreakingly believable. Every glance, every pause, every emotional beat landed perfectly.
The story itself was rich with symbolism, each visual and dialogue choice adding deeper meaning to the central romance. And then there’s the most special part for me—the Hsia twins. I’ve known them since HIStory 3: Make Our Days Count, and seeing them here alongside Tontae felt like such a gift.
The slow burn romance was immaculate. It didn’t feel staged or exaggerated—it was like watching two real people slowly, quietly, inevitably fall for each other. The chemistry was understated yet magnetic, pulling you in without fanfare.
And then… the ending. I had a feeling it was coming, but when it hit, it still gutted me. I am a shameless sucker for sad endings, and this one was bittersweet perfection—lingering in my mind long after the credits rolled.
A rare BL that manages to be both poetic and emotionally devastating in the best way possible.

Last episode saved entire drama.
This was a weird drama. The story was very good and had so much potential, but the way the executed it was terrible.I liked the combination of Thai and Mandarin language. I love both languages and it gave something extra to this drama.
The acting of the men was not that bad, but can be improved. The acting of the women (except TK's mom) in this drama was very terrible...
The last episode had me crying so much, for me most part of that episode saved the entire drama. Exept the last 10 minutes, the way it ended was just so weird...
There were some weird things in this drama that bothered me.
In episode 2, at the end the shower scene. It felt like that was just a long scene to show of his body. It would have made sence if they made it like he was thinking of TK, just like the shower scene in ep. 1.
How did Victor die? Not a word about that. And was it his brother that send the money to TK? I don't like it when they do not make things clear.
The ending of the last episode, very weird and unnessasary. They just should have left it with him losing both men.
I won't watch this again.

“I Promise I Will Come Back” is a beautifully emotional BL series that tells a story about love, distance, and the quiet promises that hold people together even when life pulls them apart. What makes this series stand out is how simple yet powerful the storyline is. It doesn’t rely on heavy drama or complicated twists — instead, it focuses on the emotional connection between the two main characters and how deeply they care for one another.
The chemistry between the leads feels natural and sincere. From their first moments together, you can see the softness in the way they look at each other, the comfort in their conversations, and the trust they build over time. Their relationship grows in a gentle, realistic way that makes you want to root for them from the very beginning. Even when circumstances separate them, their bond never feels broken — only tested.
The pacing of the series is slow in the best way. It gives you time to sit with each moment, to feel the longing, the hope, and sometimes the sadness. The emotional scenes are handled with care, and nothing feels rushed or forced. The visuals and soundtrack add even more depth, with warm colours and soft music that match the mood perfectly. Every scene feels intentional, almost like a memory being replayed.
What truly makes “I Promise I Will Come Back” memorable is the message behind it: love can survive distance, silence, and uncertainty if the feelings are genuine. It reminds viewers that sometimes the most meaningful promises aren’t shouted — they’re whispered quietly and kept in the heart.
Overall, this series is touching, intimate, and unforgettable. If you enjoy BL stories filled with emotion, tenderness, and beautifully built relationships, this one is definitely worth watching.

Ending was a surprise but still deciding whether I like it or not
I watch this series over a few days and found it to be very entertaining I've watched several hundred BLS and this is one of the better ones I just wasn't ready for the ending the acting was great the music was great the storyline was really believable but that ending just got me. Probably should happen more often than bl's everything isn't all roses and wine. It reminded me of one of the history stories. Everything was all good until the very end and it stopped immediately with the death of the main character. I never could come to terms with what happened to the character so I finally quit looking and just went with it. I would suggest watching it so everybody can make up their own minds. I really like that we could review the history of Thailand and some of their cultural things that was a very interesting. It was just so believable that it caught me off guard . even the endingWas this review helpful to you?
