JUST WATCH IT
If you’re already into the omegaverse, this is a must-watch you’ll go feral in the best way. But even if you’re new to it, Desire offers a unique sci-fi twist that makes the world intriguing to step into, to the new ones It might get a little bizarre later (we all know what the genre holds 👀) but if you’re open mindu and looking for something different, you’ll probably end up just as hooked. It's a well-built omegaverse that finally feels true to its genre and immersive. With the added rare Enigma, tiying the dynamics to a DNA altering virus is creative, sci-fi-ish, and refreshing it makes it feel more realistic(?)
The main couple? Electric. Hua Yong is a literal orchid jade beauty! and when jealousy hits, the Enigma in him switch to a whole new personality. Sheng keeps falling for all his schemes, and honestly, same lol.
Even the kiss scenes felt sweet and natural no secondhand embarrassment here, just unexpected giggles. The side couple also brings chaos with an omega disguised as a beta, and I’m all in for that drama.
Gao Tu’s acting stood out the most so far, and while it’s still in worldbuilding mode, the pacing feels right. Only the two characters are in focus, which makes it easy to follow. Production quality? Surprisingly high. Those billionaire villas alone deserve a shoutout. You can tell they invested in detailed sets and styling. Nothing looks cheap or rushed, and even the camera work is smooth and solid.

The Chemistry? chemistrying and Censorship? Bet
The MLs dynamic is a kidnapped forced marriage lol, then enemies to "bromance" even when they're enemies they stand up and protect each other they have their own moments. Despite being short it's detailed and done well like any full length drama, even side characters have a nicely detailed style, acting and cast stands out the most they are brilliant and carried well.Plot is very serious a seek for revenge and the events are portrayed in a nice pace, there's a couple funny moments but most of it is angsty and the focus is the male leads, the side female character is a sister figure she's not portrayed terribly thankfully but rather a kind person who supports the people around, so if you're seeking a bromance focus it's doing that.

what's it like objectively +the end
The drama is off to an enjoyable and interesting start with fresh elements, a blend of emotional and funny scenes with a time-travel concept it might confuse you but it's very simple.Plot & Characters:
The second main lead Gu Shiwen is a stubborn character but portrayed in a good way—he fights back but accepts kindness from Shennan once things are explained to him without dragging, avoiding the usual tsundere trope that constantly fights back. Shennan and Shiwen have a natural chemistry and they shared soft heartwarming moments.
Production Quality:
The cinematography has that classic Chinese drama charm, with beautiful shots of rain and fields. The OST adds to the emotional moments it's my favourite part in this series too.
The Ending:
(no spoiler)
Some may see this as a sad ending, but to me, it feels more like an open ending one that could be interpreted as somewhat happy. I’d say the writing in the last episode left me wanting some explanations (not necessarily needing them). It was a bit disappointing, but not surprising-we can roll with it. Chinese drama endings are often unpredictable and, in many cases, can be sad, so this isn’t unusual.
(⚠️👇SPOILER)
The gem breaking at the end signified, to me, that the cycle of fate and time travel was over, finally freeing them from its grasp. which is the only reason I wouldn't consider this as a sad ending.

Unhinged Revenge Gone Wrong but Right!
My 10 years journey with Counterattack came to an end, a happy one. still remember the first time I came across this story the snakes, the adorable yet chaotic Wu Suowei, and the wild energy that stuck with me ever since. This revenge story with a mix of humor, light chaos, emotional tension and pain keeps you wanting more. The setup is wild but somehow works it leans into the drama without taking itself too seriously, and that’s what makes it entertaining. The actors are fitting for their roles and their chemistry feels natural they did amazing. The dynamic between Wu Suowei and the doctor is a highlight their unhinged ideas and friendship had me laughing more than once with their hit or miss revenge schemes. Every character here pulled me into their world and perspective of thinking.
Chi Cheng, this wild beast with the softest heart, you wouldn’t expect that from him. Guo Chengyu in this drama is breathtaking; his forest is greener than I imagined, especially in the way he treated Xiaoshuai just perfect. And my lovely Xiaoshuai, his part of the story is so underrated. It’s the most painful one, and I wish they had explored it more, but everything was wrapped up neatly, so we’re good.
It’s also refreshing to see a storyline that flips typical romance tropes. Instead of a straightforward love story, we’re getting an unusual revenge, unexpected feelings all wrapped up in a way that’s still fun to watch. Shortly a messy love triangle but you can mix and match anyone with anyone! Honestly, it feels like this is the kind of BL I’ve missed for a while Chinese BLs coming back with that old spark.
Note:
-This series is dubbed if you didn't know or found something off, all Chinese dramas are dubbed by the cast or professionally fyi but they good.
-Make sure to read the tags for trigger warning.

A beautifully crafted masterpiece every episode HITS
I started this drama not knowing what to expect, and it got me completely hooked. Every single episode has been so enjoyable it’s rare to find a show where every scene feels captivating to me with emotions on edge wondering what is coming next. The Legend of Zang Hai is that drama of this genre. This drama's story is focused on revenge with a cunning, smart ML. It keeps us engaged and emotionally invested, even with some villains in the plot. It does have some sweet and wholesome moments here and there that balance it out, the plot keeps unfolding in a way that just pulls my attention deeper. It's one of those shows where you press “next episode” without even thinking.
If you’re looking for a drama that is not boring about politics, corruption and revenge with smart leads -romance is a subplot then this is it. But If we had to nitpick, I'd say the pacing might feel a bit dense for those not used to political storytelling you really need to pay attention to keep up and have the nerves to handle the stressful events.
The lead:
Let’s talk about Zang Hai himself I’m in love with how he’s written and how Xiao Zhan plays him. He’s all brains, no martial arts, no brute strength just pure strategy, calm calculation, and a deep sense of humanity. Xiao Zhan is so good-looking that you can’t take your eyes off him, but beyond that, his acting is on another level. The way he embodies the role, the small expressions, every stare and smile it’s all so intentional and well-crafted. He brings a quiet power to the role that makes you believe in his character completely.
One thing I really appreciate is how even with all the scheming, Zanghai never loses his empathy for the weak and poor. It gives him such depth. He’s smart and manipulative, yes, but he never becomes heartless — and that balance makes his character even more righteous than what he looks and aims for.
The other characters:
I also love how they founded and built up small inner circle of allies. A group of people who don’t operate together but from distance all are working toward the same goal from different angles. They’re all intelligent and useful in their own ways, and seeing how they helped him and complement Zanghai’s plans is really satisfying. It gives off that feeling of found family without forcing it.
- Master GaoMing, Zanghai's master this old man is the backbone carrying every plan so perfectly he's a one man army.
- Xiang Antu a fascinating character, she’s made such a strong impression with her multiple fighting skills with whips, arrows and swords she’s strong and intelligent. Since Zanghai isn’t a martial artist, she makes a perfect pair for his quest for revenge completes what he clacks of wealth strength and connections and assist protecting him not your usual FL character that constantly needs saving and protection she's reliable. Their dynamic is really well-balanced.
A few things to note/ conclusion:
-romance is a subplot, if your only goal is watching romance this series is subtle with it and I honestly don't think a romance focus would've been a good idea for the plot but it was done nicely included just the right amount of it.
-Some characters get introduced quickly and without much background probably because they're support characters. But so far, not a single episode has bored me. I personally like intense-paced plots and genuinely looked forward to each episode, never felt the urge to skip or fast-forward. It’s been such an immersive watch a political drama with a brainy, layered lead, strong supporting characters.

Cleverly Directed and Humours!
Wasn't what I expected at all! right from the start, this mini series sets a fun and lighthearted tone, making it an easy and enjoyable watch. The way they incorporated inside jokes, like the sleeve-tearing moments, was really clever and added an extra layer of humour about the situation of MLs relationship. The direction stands out with smart choices in camera angles and visual design, which enhance both the humor and the story. The editing is particularly fun animated in a way that keeps the comedy fresh and entertaining. It is not necessarily romantic but overall, it’s a well-crafted and cleverly executed for a mini series! Was this review helpful to you?

Is it a must to watch?
The plot is simple and had some psychological elements, the cinematography and acting were the best cons.Time flew very quick watching it despite having many dialogues with ancient terminologies that might confuse some or requires double checking.
It was a good watch overall but wouldn't consider as a must to watch. if you like historical male-centered plots definitely give it a shot, but if you're looking for something very wholesome it probably isn't.

You get this type of emotionally captivating series rarely from time to time.At first the story seemed simple but throughout the series it gets deeper/complicated in a good way.

how it started- quick review
This seems to be shaping up as a love triangle... or maybe even a love square, considering the twins’ involvement. The show almost feels like a tourism ad, but there are no cringey product placements, which is a definite plus. One of the leads doesn’t speak Thai fluently and uses a mix of English and Thai—it worked better than expected. As for that one female character... she says the same two words 31 times (yes, I counted), and now they’re permanently stuck in my head.
The second episode seems more promising—there’s more drama, and it feels like the actual story is starting to unfold. Just don’t go in with super high expectations, and you’ll probably enjoy it more.

More people need to watch it!
The Time of Huannan is an emotional rollercoaster that’ll definitely make you cry. The story concept is intresting , it really feels like we’re experiencing everything with the main character as he's discovering his Father's past life and his friends group. The 90s setting adds a cool atmosphere, making it even more immersive. I’m still confused about Liu Yonghui and Chen Baodeng’s past connection, but that mystery adds to the film’s impact. The cast were amazing loved seeing them in this movie, and overall, this is easily one of the best Taiwanese movies I’ve seen. Definitely a must-watch!Was this review helpful to you?
