Norio Kano, a struggling short story writer in Tokyo, feels stuck in life when he receives the sudden news of his father's death. He returns to his family's café in Nagoya, "Jun Kissa Tsunagari", and takes over as temporary manager. However, despite the feelings of part-time employee Akina and regular customer Komiyama, Norio decides to close the café. In the meantime, he meets the café's customers: a young genius entrepreneur struggling with social media backlash, a housewife struggling with friendships with other mothers, a woman with dementia and her family, and a middle school student caught up in individualism. Gradually, Norio comes to realize the significance of "Jun Kissa Tsunagari" and the importance of his colleagues. From his mother, he learns about his late father, Yojiro's, early days, and comes to understand his deep feelings for the café. Facing his own feelings honestly, Tetsuo decides whether to pursue his dream of becoming a novelist or continue running the café.
