Thiu suffers one loss after another. First, his mother passes away. Then Nam-Oi, a buffalo who was like family, dies too. With both gone, Thiu is overwhelmed by grief and feels completely alone. But life slowly starts to shift. He takes on the care of Thui, Nam-Oi’s orphaned calf, and finds quiet strength in the guidance of a kind local monk. Slowly, Thiu begins to heal. Then he meets Nuengruethai, a warm and gentle woman whose kindness helps fill the emptiness in his life. As their connection grows, Nuengruethai’s jealous fiancé, Suradet, steals and sells Thui.
