Marie-Lou Fontaine, the director of the care facility "Garden of Freedom" in the suburbs of Paris, France, aims to provide humane care for residents, but is troubled by a shortage of staff and a lack of understanding from the staff. In the midst of all this, she meets a Japanese director named Morisaki Mari, and is inspired by her plays, which she writes while she is battling cancer. The two began to interact through the coincidence that they have the same name, but one day Mari "suddenly becomes ill".
