A young girl, Lek, lives in a small village in a remote region of Thailand with her loving mother and her horrible stepfather. When her schoolteacher asks what present she wants from Santa Claus, Lek wishes only for a happy family. But Christmas brings tragedy instead of happiness as Lek’s mother dies. The spirit of Lek’s mother returns to Lek and tells the young girl she must run far away and not stop running until she finds a new, loving home.
