There's the escaping bird again behind Manami

Loving all the analysis, commentary and response from everyone.

Just to say that I do not consider the escaping bird to be a symbol of freedom. It is a sticker of a bird of prey that people put on windows to stop little birds from flying into them and getting injured/killed.

So it is actually a symbol of threat, albeit created out of concern for protecting the vulnerable. I'm sure that the choice to have a fake predator/exaggerated danger/symbol of fear to discourage flight in the background just as Manami is considering whether or not to go to Taiga (and what that means for pursuing a relationship others frown upon)  was intentional. It's like the devil on her shoulder- the hovering hawk of fear that isn't real but is trying to keep her from flying in case she gets hurt.

Ooh thank you so much for that explanation! I love it
