In 1993, Shanghai, a teenage artist named Xuan drops out of school and crashes in an old Shikumen house. While cleaning up, he finds a forgotten diary written by someone named Lan when she was 18. He becomes kind of obsessed with her story. Later, he meets Lan in real life, but she’s now 36. Instead of telling her he found her diary, he starts copying little scenes from it in front of her, hoping she’ll notice. What starts as curiosity slowly turns into something deeper. Xuan starts falling for her, and Lan, watching this strange younger guy act out her past, finds old feelings waking up again. It’s awkward, bittersweet, and full of emotional tension between two people at totally different points in life - one looking forward, the other looking back.
