Powerhouse Cast + Sweet Story
This one is a gem! “As Brilliant as Fireworks” is a youth drama with a time-travel twist about growing up, learning to have empathy, and making up for regrets.Some aspects of the plot, including the happy ending, could have been more developed, but overall it’s a delightful watch with a standout cast. The two couples (played by Zhang Chi & Yu Yin and Wang Yi Lei & Li Ke Yi) have a great dynamic both as pairs and as a group, the production values are nice, and the story is fun and fanciful while still having emotional impact.
As a side note, I continue to be impressed with Zhang Chi’s versatility as an actor. He’s more than just a pretty face (though that’s hard to ignore). Here, he gives a fine performance as a moody but tender-hearted high-schooler, but he’s just as convincing in other types of roles, like his unhinged and obsessive but vulnerable character in “Helpless Without You”, or as a flirty college student in “Secret Love Is a Star Candy.” He seems to pick interesting scripts too. Definitely a talent to watch.

Our heroine travels back in time to stop her parents love-story!
Ah, this is a rare gem! Where a Maincharacter timetravels and meets her parents as 18-year olds. I mean, that would be a dream come true for me to watch my parents fall in love! I grew up watching Back To the Future Trilogy, so this is a plot dear to my heart. Watching the rich star cast was a balm to my soul, the Firework Squad had great chemistry with all of them together. I thought FL´s mother such a beautiful cutie and her father soooo cool! (i mean you can never go wrong with YiLei`s deathly swag) FL´s love interest is in the hot-tempered bad boy Jiang Yi. YuYin & Zhang Chi have so much chemistry and pulled off their characters struggles to perfection!Was this review helpful to you?
it's your loss if you don't watch this. a drama I can't imagine anyone not liking.
I never write reviews. This would be my very first one.I usually seek lighthearted, rom-com, interesting plot, hot leads, good chemistry.
This drama made me cry in the best way possible. Don't be alarmed, it's not heavy or moody. It's not overly preachy or too realistic/slice-of-life that leaves you feeling to exposed after watching, questioning your own life.
It's a fun yet truly meaningful story that perfectly balances the romantic plot, friendship development, aswell as wholesome and deeply meaningful messages about family and filial piety. It has plot though, there are moments of suspense and a well paced, well fleshed out arc.
I binged the entire thing in one sitting. No 2x or 3x haha. It felt like such an easy watch, natural and exiting.
I can truly feel how much the entire team (director, writer, actors, music, lighting, etc.) love and enjoyed working on this piece.

As someone whose watched over 200 dramas. I honestly don't think there is ever a "perfect" piece of work. In one sense, because art is subjective. In another sense, a drama could score 10/10 across cinematography and storytelling but you may not connect with it or really enjoy it. In this regard, I truly can't encourage you enough to watch this drama, because I hope you too feel the warm and joyous connection I felt in connection to this drama.
Lastly, I must highlight - Zhang Chi.
Wow. One of my fav actors in all of chinese dramaland forever now. I've seen mutliple of his works and can confidently say he takes acting seriously. He chooses and nicely delivers diverse and genuinly interesting scripts and characters. Great chemistry w his co-stars. He's a gorgeous person to look at and I am so hopeful for his future career.
