In a city of late nights, defector Dong Chi Seong works in the kitchen of a North Korean-style dumpling soup restaurant called Shin Nampho Dumplings, making dumplings and boiling broth. Late at night, when there aren’t many customers, a middle-aged woman named Kim Jeong Ran waits for her food while Chi Seong absentmindedly runs his hand through his hair. At that moment, a dump truck suddenly crashes into the restaurant, shattering the glass as it bursts in. In an instant, the restaurant is devastated. Chi Seong pulls a piece of glass embedded in himself and begins helping the injured people. He finds Choi Ji Uk, the head of the emergency room at Sitam Hospital, who had been eating a late dinner there, unconscious and with a severe head injury. Chi Seong retrieves a power drill from the kitchen and administers emergency aid by drilling into Ji Uk's skull to relieve cranial pressure. Thanks to Chi Seong’s quick and bold response, Ji Uk’s life is saved. After helping not only the restaurant owner, Min Bok I, but also other people, Chi Seong is transported to the hospital along with the others. At the hospital, Chi Seong meets Ji Uk again, the man whose life he saved. Ji Uk, who already knew about Chi Seong from a previous interview, asks him to work with him at the hospital.
