Dae Hyeok had survived the harsh winds of mass layoffs and was even selected as employee of the year, proving his loyalty and dedication to the company. Now, his main duty in the HR department is to deliver retirement notices—so-called “honorary retirements”—to others. But the bank becomes engulfed in turmoil due to a merger. Dae Hyeok dreams of being promoted to assistant manager, but the news that comes is like a bolt from the blue: “Honorable retirement!” He clings to every connection he has, begs desperately, and struggles to avoid being cast aside. In the end, he is allowed to stay—but only as a contract worker. Determined to win back a regular position, Dae Hyeok throws himself into his work, cutting down others who are targeted for layoffs even more ruthlessly than before.
