Etajima City is located in the Seto Inland Sea archipelago in western Hiroshima Prefecture. Born there and never having left the island, Shuji has always felt responsible for his father's sudden death in the family farm several years ago, and has lived a lackluster life ever since. One day, Shuji learns on television that his childhood friend Kazuya, who left Etajima to become a film director in Tokyo, is shooting a film set in his hometown of Etajima. Kazuya and Shuji's relationship was even more distant because, in high school, he was dating Yukie, a classmate whom Shuji had a crush on. At the time, Yukie was working at a snack bar in Kure City.
