Ridiculous and entertaining
A short vertical drama, where each episode only 2mins long, so things move fast and aren't necessarily explained. You just have to roll with it. The fast pace does make it easier to consume since I tend to watch at 1. 5x and fast forward a lot.Entertaining while it lasted. FL is smart, sassy, and fights back. ML is cute but not much presence. The Emperor was more fun as a character.
FL is a doctor who gets stabbed by an upset male patient, whose child she had suggested aborting in order to to save the mother/wife. FL wakes up on the execution ground and saves the sickly 6th prince, our ML, from a heart attack. In gratitude, he suggests she marry him. Ok, sure.
She even throws a bachelorette party with hunky buff guys. The show managed to play club music with Chinese instruments and have strobe lights using ancient bronze mirrors. 😂 Her future mother in law, the other concubine, and the empress were impressed with her novel ideas. Kidding, it was just the gyrating topless buff guys. FL taught them how to dance.
She catches the empress having an affair and schemes with ML and his mother to win him the position of Crown Prince and to expose the empress.
Plot twist, emperor was playing 4d chess and one step ahead to get everything to work out just how he wanted in the end. He already knew everyone's secrets which makes sense when he leads everyone to Kunning Palace to catch the adulterous empress.
The best part by far was FL implying ML had performance issues. Aya, the dignity of a man, let alone a royal prince. The empress doesn't believe it so she has ML drugged so she can have her momo check. This old momo lifts the ML's robes and watches for change while dancing girls rub up against our drugged ML. The momo was very excited for this job and at one point, even drools because she's so thirsty. I can't even.
Ending is a little open, they meet up in modern world, but doesn't seem like he knows who she is.
It was a fun little guilty pleasure. I'm unlikely to rewatch, but I don't regret watching it in the first place.
