By day, Arlo is a cool, aloof art teacher; by night, he’s a reckless gambler drowning in massive debt. Forced to sell himself to pay it off, he ends up under the “patronage” of Zane. Bound by a sugar arrangement, Arlo insists on keeping his day job, while the fastidious and controlling Zane warns him not to dirty himself, since he has a compulsive need for cleanliness. Arlo mocks Zane, telling him not to fall for him as he is “straight” and only in it for the money. Yet from then on, the two begin leading a double life: a campus-style romance by day, and a ruthless duo dominating the underground gambling scene by night. In the end, what began as an arrangement turns into real love. Casual encounters turn into intimacy, and Zane helps Arlo forcibly break free of his gambling addiction, ushering in a story of mutual redemption. (Source: iQIYI) Edit Translation

and you would do it too for a check
Why was this actually fire as fuck? I would give it an 8 out of 10, which is really high for a short drama. But I low-key ate this up. This shit was all types of addictive. Ok, so I’m gonna say what I liked and what I didn’t like. Spoiler time.Starting off with the thing that got me into the show immediately, the description on IQIYI. It was just so random, and I love it when they have like gambling problems and then they sell themselves to other guys. Like my show is onnnn. I also like how they portrayed the gambling addiction. I think that was like really realistic and I’m truly impressed that they did that. Also, the actors have this weird chemistry. I can’t really explain it, but it’s like low-key really good and the acting was like meh at best, but why did they have such good chemistry like what the fuck. Also the plot was so addictive it didn’t jump around a whole bunch which most short dramas do. Towards the end it kind of did but we’re gonna ignore that. I like how the plot was continuous in this weird twisted way. I think my last thing I have on my list is the dirty talk. I don’t know why I’m talking about this, but I feel like it was like a big plot point in the story and it has me gripping my pearls and shit and they were saying that shit with straight faces. I’m like oh my God there is no way. Yeah I don’t know. I lowkey fucked with Alo's character. I don’t know the way the character was written. I messed with a lot and I don’t know.
Onto what I didn’t like. Right off the bat it’s a damn shame this wasn’t 300 episodes and five seasons. I ATE THIS UPP. I think the fact that it was a short drama means it’s like lower production and overall that like significantly lowers the rating of this show. They had a toxic fucking relationship like it wasn’t as bad towards the start but towards the end, I’m like oh my God there’s no way we got back with him after that. Whoever wrote this had a field day with that I’m like what the fuck. So yeah, also maybe their whole dynamic. It was like this weird dynamic, but it was like kind of worse than that. I don’t really know. But yeah, of course it’s like a short drama, but I wish instead of flashing back to the same fucking scene, we’ve seen six goddamn times we could work on some character development and character work. I already know what’s happening why the fuck are we flashing back to the same fucking bullshit I’ve seen eight goddamn times. Him and his fucking dad with the golden feather fucking earrings. Do I need to see that again bitch I just saw this shit? I don’t need to fucking see it again. Also the side characters besides the friend that sold him in the modern day slavery we’re all ass. The fucking students bro like what the fuck kind of purpose did they serve like what are we fucking talking about right now. The dad was a bad character he showed up like four times and always said the same bullshit. He’s like by the way I’m not even your dad. What the fuck are you fucking talking about bro? And the whole thing with the fucking grandfather if you don’t shut your old ass up, nobody gives a damn. Also a thing I didn’t like I needed more lore. They drop me in here like I knew everything. I don’t know what goddamn thing they could’ve spaced in between their weird ass fucking sex scenes no offense those were great, but on God, we could’ve put some lore in there. Oh my God, I forgot about Kai. His whole character was fucking irrelevant, like who even is that what purpose did you fucking serve in? The final thing I can think of is the pet shit that got so fucking weird. I’m like there’s no way. His friend literally sold him into modern slavery. Why was there an auction going on? What the fuck are we even talking about you lost me at immediately that was all types of weird. The pet shit and him whipping him and shit. I’m like what are we fucking doing that got so weird and that’s why they’re fucking dynamic pissed me off like what are we doing right now. And thats all i can think of lmao. Also completely irrelevant, but I would change the title to for the love of the game instead of addiction of love because that low-key doesn’t make any sense grammatically like just reading that but yeah, my bad, English major era (despite me not being able to spell).
Would i recommend this for the love of the fucking game (see what I did there)? You know I would. This was gas had me smiling the entire time. If you’re looking for a good show with good morals and good character work this is not for you. If you’re not looking for that, watch this shit it’s low-key fire. Okay bye!
Plot hole Alarm
This might be the series with the highest amount of plot holes I ever watched and honestly, I don't even know how and why I finished it.If you plan to watch this one, here are a few warnings for you:
First of all, there's a lot of violence going on in this drama including guns, riding crops and golf clubs in various situations.
Second, there's also a lot of non-consensual sexual stuff happening throughout the whole series.
Third: music choices and timing. Awkward as hell.
The so called plot is basically about two destined people that meet each other by accident without knowing their actual background, and it is filled with almost every trope you can imagine. But especially the last 10 episodes had so many twists and turns that left me speechless- I'm still wondering what (probably illegal) stuff the author was consuming o.O
That being said, no one can blame the actors for not being able to give their all here. Over all, with a noticeably better script and maybe slightly longer episodes, this could have been easily a good show.
