In the fall of 1980, Xu Jing You, a Chinese-American entrepreneur, returns to China to find his son and bring him to America. Xu Ling Jun, has been working as a shepherd and hasn't seen his father in 30 years. Intimidated by this father he barely knows, scarred by the hardships he endured growing-up during the Cultural Revolution, Ling Jun recalls his past to make way for the future.
