The series went in a different direction than the original novel.
I watched GagaOOLala.I forgive the filmmakers for the opening episodes. They were very toxic and the main characters were “red flags” in themselves. James plays Jimmy so well that most viewers started to “hate” him. Kad’s Toh was so naive, innocent, blinded that you wanted to shake him and scream at him!
The last episodes were a big disappointment for me. They edited the original novel and did more harm than good. They put Toh and Freeze together. They both came out of that relationship as the two biggest idiots. Toh and Jimmy? Just whining, crying, drowning in alcohol, no proper communication, which led to more misunderstandings. Teek and Fah were good only as an addition to NC for the audience’s pleasure, their interference annoyed me. Happy ending thanks to matchmakers? All forgiven, jump into sex? What the hell is that!
I recommend reading the original novel, where Toh has wised up and matured. Where Jimmy will suffer, he will get a chance to change and win back his love without intimacy and kisses. If they had ended the series like this, the ratings would definitely have been higher

It’s never easy to start developing feelings for your best friend’s brother. That kind of situation is always complicated, filled with hesitation and unspoken emotions.
Watching the story unfold makes you wonder how everything will turn out in the end. Love rarely follows a simple path, especially when friendship and loyalty are involved.

Started out good, ended up flat or subpar.
it isn't a brilliant work but its an okay series. love is complicated kinda show. (the heart wants what it wants)the pilot ep was actually interesting and good, but rest of the show felt flat. (mehhh)
Summary:
I don't think there's a single one to blame here but all of them have their own flaws, i mean nobody's perfect although they're red flags and jerks here, can't deny it. I go to that later to shorten my summary.
I personally don't understand the hate of jim-toh.
I personally feel jim-toh's story more complex, intriguing and meet with scenarios that fit with people their age & reality. (school settings, we all see before rl school drama LIVE in your schools and gossips from the neighboring schools- all kinds of absurdity) The couple actually reflect some real life couples more if you think about it. Can't say that for older and more mature people, but if u focus on the school settings, many fluffy drama actually are fairytale, this is the kind of story that is always around campus somewhere. it might not be your life story but still possibly a friend's friend situation somewhere because i heard similar stories multiple times irl. fr. (or even someone once close to you)
The starting plot was actually really well done i think, i just felt the story started to go plain after, it was kinda draggy (ok sorry supporters of 2nd cp) it focuses on teh and fah which both had its fault, i can't get fah at all, is he trying to play hard to get or is he just playing with him. felt like their relationship was build on playful-body-compatibility instead, not that i have any opinions, it just lack complexity and no difference from FWB to LOVERS kinda couple, which other show provides. so i felt more lowly interested and wish to see more of the 1st CP/jim-toh. I also felt the redemption ark felt flat and was going real slow on the flow and mostly not much happening during the period other than new love interest /self destructive mode etc.
overall, i felt that some parts were really slow pacing, and could be shorten or cut, and some scenes are not long enough like the last episode finale. the start i would actually felt the story WAS a 7-7.5, BUT as i watch felt pretty FLAT like a 5-6/10 overall, nothing exciting. Okay series to watch to kill time or just for the nice NCs but thats all. skippable.

So, anyway
flaws, oh flaws. i have some rants.
I see some people saying how much they like the teh-fah couple, i mean they HAVE their GOOD points BUT!! I also want to point out the toxic traits too that people seems to oversee. Since everyone is already writing and we ALL KNOW the toxic of 1st CP jimmytoh I'll focus more on the 2nd CP Teh&Saifah. I would say ALL of them are toxic in different levels.
Like, Fah knew his love interest's friend is interested in him but show no consideration before starting out with Teh.
Teh hides that he is also getting interested in Fah. (no wonder these 2 toxics r friends) I can ignore the early parts but when they woke up and seemingly his attraction is stronger he still lied to his friend who was honest to him.
I have more to say but im tired for now, feel free to pm or comment if you want to rant with me xD i mean discuss HAHHAA
Also they are actually similar plot shows of this in hetro romance like SO MUCH of it, but people criticize this more harshly idk why haha . thats also the one of the reason i felt the show was pretty mehhh, as its recycled plot, just in BL instead of hetro haha but still comparing some of those executed them more intriguingly.

Compelling Start ...and then the plot lost itself.
I am gonna be honest..is it great? No! ...But is it non-watchable...Also no!You could definitely watch this to get your BL fix when nothing else seems interesting...The lighting and cinematography were really good.
Fair warning, though, you will feel like screaming at both the leads...sometimes the miscommunication is dragged..like one instance of Toh overhearing an incriminating sentence uttered by Jimmy would have been enough (after which the next sentence is undoing the first impression, but of course Toh is long gone by then, and did not hear the second half)...we did not need multiple such 'coincidences'.
Anyways...among the things I liked, at the top is definitely Plaifah and Ter's relationship. Though it started a bit racy and red-flaggish, it actually evolved to be the healthiest one by the end. They were sexy but also sweet; they communicated well, and both seemed to respect each other for their roles in the relationship. I stan!

There's too much hate for this series
I actually enjoyed this series! I do think that the acting could have been a little better and the NC scenes could have had more spice added to them, but I found it enjoyable. I've two complaints with the show though; I feel the wrong guy portrayed P'Toh and then the guys who portrayed P'Teh and P'Fah were subpar with their acting. Other than these things, I enjoyed it.Was this review helpful to you?
A warning I probably should have taken
I went into it expecting a messy but entertaining BL, and while the premise had potential, the execution never fully worked for me. Unfortunately, the drama never dives deep enough into those feelings, and the characters often feel stuck going in circles instead of actually growing. The romance lacked the emotional impact I was hoping for, and many conflicts felt dragged out or unnecessarily repetitive. There are a few moments where the chemistry between the leads shows glimpses of what the story could have been, but overall it never fully commits to its more complex themes about honesty, consequences, and real emotional change. In the end, it wasn’t terrible, just frustratingly average — the kind of show that had the ingredients for something much better but never quite managed to deliver. Was this review helpful to you?
“One Alert, A Thousand Emotions — Enter If You Dare. ?✨?
Alert Love isn’t simply a series — it’s a quiet heartbeat disguised as a story, a soft wind that brushes against memories you didn’t know were still alive. It speaks in the language of glances, in the tremble of unspoken words, in actions carried out in silence… the kind that only the heart notices.I pressed play because I knew James and Kad — but I stayed because the story held my soul with a tenderness I wasn’t expecting. From the sweetness promised by the title, I imagined a light, airy tale. Instead, I was carried through shadows and softness: I began with sadness, felt anger burn through me, and somehow bloomed into a smile shaped by healing.
In so few episodes, they managed to reveal the two faces of love — the gentle one and the one that leaves bruises. Friendship, betrayal, longing, the fear of being misunderstood, the courage to confront the truth, the painful beauty of self-realisation… each theme was handled with a delicacy that felt almost sacred.
James shone with a vulnerability so honest it didn’t feel like acting — it felt like witnessing someone breathe. Kad followed him with equal truth. Even the OST felt like a hand guiding your emotions, placing them exactly where they needed to be.
And TheFah… ah, my comfort sanctuary. Two hearts so soft and warm they felt like a cup of tea on a sad day. They made me smile without asking for anything in return.
I may not agree with every choice made at the beginning — but life isn’t neat, nor perfect. Sometimes love stumbles before it learns to stand. And that is what gave this story its realism, its warmth, its bruised beauty.
Alert Love is more than a narrative.
It is a refuge, a reminder, a mirror.
A whispered warning.
A gentle awakening.
A true love alert for all of us. 💗✨

I always found it irritating when people wrote "my honest review" in the past. Before I knew BL series, lol. I thought, who would write a dishonest review? Well, now I know. I have seen many 10s and 1s for series who clearly didn't deserve it.Love Alert was, I saw, not really well received, and I can understand why. Still, the question for me as reviewer has two be twofold: what did the creators aim for, and was I entertained? On a very basic level I have to answer to both: yes.
As to the details, it was a decent enough story. A red flag character breaks the heart of a green flag guy, with a surrounding cast. Now as a gay man I testify, people like Jimmy just exist - and I assume among straight people just as well. But then there were two important messages: first, we cannot command whom to love. That too I have seen, mostly ending bad. I have an ex who always fell in love with guys treating him bad with no happy ends. But is that life as it always is, and can stories not give us hope? Hope that bad people can change? And in grim times such as these, at least for my part it is a hope I do not wish to let go, call me naive. I never was in the shoes of these two, but I want to believe that a change can happen, and through what if not love? Jimmy did get his good share of suffering, and as the saying goes, mercy is given unearned, for if we have to earn it, it is not forgivance. And despite it all, my heart is not yet so hardend. As such I did overall enjoy the plot. For it gives me hope.
The acting was alright, it wasn't top acting or top looking actors, I am honest with that, though I think the bad guy turned good was good looking. Call the question of looks shallow, but in love stories made film I think that does matter. The changes of the behavior from all six people involved was interesting to see, and just because one was a red flag, I don't think it deserves to be hated as series, especially since I am usually relatively thin skinned to watch suffering, I did not feel it was so over the top. The kissing was a bit lacking, but then it often is, so I did not want to set the bar too high just for that. The NC was nice, not too much to be bored (I AM LOOKING AT YOU PEACH LOVER!), and sensitive enough to be nice. Each character was displayed with a clearly distinct character and a decent enough character development. Just from a gut feeling I had a good time with it, and ending with "Two- and a Half Couples" I felt well enough at the ending.
As such I give it
7.5/10
better than expected. 😉

save your time
I started watching this because it was recommended as a show that would be interesting, spoiler it wasn’t. I watched 2 episodes normally, giving it a chance but after the third one I had to put x2 to watch it. I wasted my precious time, the storyline was messy, everything happened too fast, emotions weren’t there. it was awful and even tho I watchied on x2 it still was too long. I would love to go back in time and never start this show. I had to push myself to finish it just because I started it and till the end I tried thinking that it would get better. personally this show was just too plain and the acting wasn’t the best also the music was so random just showing up at some random times. overall this show was a waste of my time and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyoneWas this review helpful to you?

never wanted to slap the male lead so much in my life
I feel bad for everyone in this show EXCEPT Jimmy, this guy needs to get a bloody grip. Every time I see him he manages to evoke an unspeakable rage within me. The whole plot is him basically throwing a tantrum because he's a player and the guy he wants to mess around with wants his friend instead and doesn't give a crap about his advances (love Fah for putting Jimmy in his place). I feel sympathy for Toh and how he's staying with Jimmy in the hopes to make him love him, it's equally cute and depressing. The best character in this show hands-down is Teh, freaking love that guy - but he needs to dump Jimmy ASAP. I hate how Jimmy convinces Teh that HE is the one being a bad friend because he got with Fah (Teh and Fah like each other, Jimmy needs to stop inserting himself between them!!) even though Jimmy's whole freaking plan was to manipulate Teh's brother so that he can get closer to Fah as they are friends. Just as Fah was beginning to work through his issues, Jimmy strikes again and it all goes to waste!! I wish that Teh would communicate with Fah with what is happening, this would solve literally all of their problems.Overall, this show is a good watch to kill time when you've got nothing else to do and a whole lot of rage to direct at fictional men doing stupid shit.

My view on the characters and story
The story is a bit cliché, but I don't think it is bad. I like that they show different characters who have different growth. I like that it talks about the bad things in relationships and not just fluffy everyone is always happy.I already had some longer discussions about the characters in the comment section (I am normally not that opinionated, but some things did bother me a bit).
About the characters (of course this is just my point of view and my opinion), this will have spoilers:
P'Toh: I want to start with him because I think he is the most complex, but also because I saw some comments that confused me the most. Some seem to think of him as simply annoying and that as the "older" (adult) person he should be more mature and not that "stupid", he should simply have listened to others and that at the end it's his own choice and fault for falling for Jimmy.
P'Toh is the embodiment of pure, untainted innocence, making him a primary target for exploitation. At an age where most have become cynical, he remains sheltered, naive and soft, viewing the world with a sincerity that lacks any natural defense mechanisms. He is a true victim, and the argument that he chose his suffering is a fundamental misunderstanding of the psychological trap he was in. P'Toh was systematically dismantled by love bombing, a flood of manufactured affection that blinded his judgment, followed by intermittent reinforcement. This later showen "push-pull dynamic" creates a powerful emotional situation, by the time Jimmys cruelty surfaced, P'Toh was already trauma-bonded, desperately trying to find the kind person he first met. He didn't choose to be hurt, he was methodically manipulated by a person he was never equipped to defend himself against. I am happy to see that he chose to walk away at the end, but am also sadly aware that he will most likely forgive Jimmy in the end...
Jimmy: Jimmy is far more dangerous than a simple "player". He is a predator who operates with a hollow ego and an extreme lack of empathy. While a player might be non-committed, a predator like Jimmy is intentional. He identified P'Tohs innocence as a vulnerability and strategically exploited it as a bridge to first reach P'Fah and later hurt Teh. Jimmy knows exactly how to flip the script, using Toh for physical gratification and then intentionally labeling him clingy or annoying to maintain total psychological dominance. His cruelty is absolute because it is calculated, he doesn't view Toh as a human being with feelings, but as a tool to be used and discarded once its utility is gone. He doesn't lack realization of his feelings (like some seem to say) he lacks the humanity to value others.
Teh: I think, Teh is more a player in the classic sense, he lacks the predatory calculation of Jimmy. He is a person driven by a flawed search for connection, repeatedly pursuing people in hopes of finding "the one," only to realize the spark is gone once the chase ends (creating a trail of (un)intentional hurt). Unlike Jimmy, he doesn't lie to his partners or lead them on once he realizes his heart isn't in it. He is a protective brother who cares deeply for P'Toh, often warning him about the dangers of the world. While he is flawed, espacially in his decision to hide his relationship with P'Fah out of fear of conflict, his actions are driven by a search for genuine connection rather than a desire to control or hurt others. He is a someone caught between his own fickle heart and his genuine loyalty to those he loves.
P'Fah: In my opinion P'Fah is the most socially intelligent member of the group, he is someone who knows his value and uses his high standards as a shield. He is far from innocent, he understands how the game of attraction works and isn't afraid to use strategy to protect his own heart. I clearly think his "only once" rule with Teh was a calculated tactic, a way to challenge Tehs pattern of getting bored and force him to actually invest emotionally. P'Fah serves as the check and balance of the story; he is the only one with the maturity to recognize Jimmy behavior from the start making him comletly uninterested. While he is a strategist, his intentions are protective, he uses his insight to help Teh grow and to provide the clarity needed to save P'Toh from Jimmys toxic web.

Love Alert — When the Cast Tries to Carry a Story That Doesn’t Understand Them
Love Alert had the potential to be a decent BL, at least on paper. The concept itself isn’t terrible: a playboy named Jimmy ends up discovering unexpected feelings for Toh, the older brother of the boy he originally tried to approach to get closer to his crush. It’s a simple setup that could have created a slow emotional shift from confusion to genuine love. But the execution never reaches that potential, and the biggest reason is how uneven the characters and cast feel.James Hayward Prescott clearly dominates the screen as Jimmy. He has a strong presence and the confidence of someone who knows how to attract the camera. The problem is that the story starts to revolve around him almost entirely, which makes the emotional balance of the relationship collapse. Jimmy becomes the center of every scene while the rest of the cast struggles to keep up. Kad Ploysupa as Toh suffers the most from that imbalance. The character is written as sensitive and emotional, but the way the script constantly pushes him into crying scenes becomes exhausting. Instead of feeling vulnerable or sympathetic, the repetition makes him look weak. And that’s frustrating, because with a stronger script Toh could have been the emotional counterweight to Jimmy’s personality. Instead, he often feels like he’s reacting rather than existing as his own person. David Matthew Roberts, playing Teh, still feels like a newcomer. You can see moments where he’s trying to find his footing as an actor. He’s not terrible but compared to more experienced BL actors you can sense the difference in confidence and emotional control.
The strange thing is that the cast itself isn’t necessarily the problem. The writing is. The screenplay by Bhumjai seems to misunderstand male-to-male relationships in a way that becomes noticeable across the episodes. Emotional vulnerability is reduced to constant tears instead of emotional complexity. In many scenes, the characters behave as if the drama is trying to remind the audience that they are gay rather than letting the relationship develop naturally. Ironically, the original creator Nottakorn has been involved in several BL projects that fans really appreciate, such as Tonhon Chonlatee and Ai Long Nhai. Knowing that background makes Love Alert feel even more disappointing, because the original concept clearly had potential. The problem lies in how the adaptation reshaped the story.
Another issue is how the series relies on sexual scenes to maintain attention. Those moments appear abruptly, without the emotional build-up that would make them meaningful. Instead of strengthening the connection between the characters, they highlight how shallow the relationship actually feels. In a way, Love Alert feels like a BL that belongs to another era of the genre. A formula that might have worked when BL storytelling was still developing but now feels outdated compared to the emotional complexity audiences expect today.
Final thought
The cast tries. James carries scenes with confidence, Kad shows flashes of potential, and even the newer actors occasionally find emotional moments. But the story never gives them the depth they need. And in the end, what remains is a drama that isn’t terrible… just frustrating, because you can clearly see how much better it could have been.
