Bamui Hyang

Set in the Joseon era, a time when women were oppressed. The story follows a woman, Seo Hong, who defies her fate and embraces her desires, and a man, Seo Jae Ha, who loves her but must accept his own fate and conceal his desires. Seo Jae Ha, the son of a butcher who grew up in a happy family, but whose life is shattered after his father’s death. He later takes on a new identity as the son of Seo Dong Won, the richest man in Hanyang. He develops complex feelings toward Seo Hong, whom he comes to know as his “sister.” Seo Hong is the only daughter of Hanyang's wealthiest family. Defying the restrictions placed on women in the Joseon era, she paves her own way. Seo Hong is a determined and shrewd character who, through her intelligence and initiative, builds a successful trading business.
