Iwao, a game enthusiast living in Kushiro, leads an unremarkable daily life. One day, he learns that his hometown, Kushiro, is being considered, alongside Shanghai and Busan, as a potential setting for the next installment of a globally popular game he was obsessed with in middle school. Living with his mother, who runs a stall at the market, Iwao decides to promote Kushiro’s potential as a port city, one that could become the “Singapore of the North” with the opening of Arctic shipping routes, through the game world, in hopes of attracting more tourists. Together with his childhood friends, including Akari, who has returned from Tokyo, he works to bring the game’s production to Kushiro.
